Another thing, said with a large smile and all possible courtesy: please stop making technical comments when you're not in grade to do them. Most of things I read here below are only funny and totally usefulness. The fact that you use words like "vibrato", "sostenuto", "tone problems" is the proof that you cannot understand that "singing" is an art and not Mathematics. Please, please, be kind: do not ruin the most beautiful Art in the world to give yourself airs of super experts. Be kind. Thanks
Can't comment about Italian Barocco or tone problems as I have nothing to compare with as I have not heard this before so I just enjoyed listening to the interpretation of Jose Carreras. Finding problems with this singer in relation to intonation, vibrato etc is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Don't bother, just listen and enjoy.
Commenting just for commenting is unfair. There are no problems with tempo and tone. That Romanza is from Italian Barocco and vibrato MUST be there as well as all the menismi you heard. As for the interpretation, believe me, is very good, giving Carreras the right musical meaning to every and each word. Vibrato MUST always be in perfect tone and not all the singers can do it. Vibrato is difficult, rare and precious. It cannot be mistaken with "tone problems".
From which opera is this aria?
