Its of individual like, you can't question any other peoples talent, people like those songs which makes them feel good. Everybody has his own style of composition and style of singing, If you don't like it leave it. And if you like a person's music you follow him, and don't make others to follow your choice, that shows your attitude. I personally like Kumar Sanu. His songs makes me feel good and that should not be same to all. That does not mean I do not like A.R rehman,but not upto sanu.

Beautiful Song. Kumar Sanu sung it beautifully. Its not an easy song. Kumar Sanu had his own class. He ruled whole 90s era and we still hear those melodious songs and miss him.. Now a days young voices and cheap singers have come who record their voice in less charges than old singers. Look at Sonu Nigam now, i love him but i find his song rarely in up coming songs. Just a song or two after many movies Sonu is doing now.

I HEART this song. lovely to see ARR and kSanu together (thought they never worked with each other). music is totally great hats off to ARR and is beautifully sung by alka and Ksanu-mashallah.

i kept thinking that originally its from film anjali (1990). but actually its from duet (1994) starred meenakshi shashdri. i prefer hindi version coz i dont understand tamil plus the hindi version has a better music. tamil one isnot bad but hindi one is far better. ARR has a done a better job in hindi one.

@nobinmudiyil: If he was such a super quality singer, then why didn't any established music composers used him again? I mean after the singers like Sonu, Hariharan and Sankar became well-known faces and showed the world their talent - why composers stopped hiring Kumar Sanu? Why didn't AR Rahman use him more than once? He is above all politics. He gives chances to new singers if they have real talent (example - Vijay Prakash). Because, people with real talent have come and his era was GONE !!!

for your information rahman wanted kumar sanu to sing all his songs in roza but k sanu did not given him time,again on othe song muqqabla muqqabla hoga of akshay kumar, they had tussle on them after that raman did not given any somgs to kumar sanu.

@nobinmudiyil: that is because at the early 90s, when Kumar Sanu won the filmfare best singer's award for 5 consecutive years, at that time, there was no singer in the industry like - sonu nigam, sankar mahadevan, Vijay Prakash etc. Only noteworthy competitors were: Abhijit (standard equal to Kumar Sanu) and Udit Narayan (definitely better than Sanu). Kumar Sanu basically played in an open field which had no defenders or strikers or goalkeepers - that's why he scored five goals. That's it.

On the contrary, Sanu is definitely better than HR and has an OK voice, not a completely "ugly" one, but his voice is definitely NOTHING when compared to Sankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Udit Narayan etc. They are the actual knowledgeable persons in the bollywood music industry - all of them have knowledge and years of 'riyaz' in Classical music - which is the foundation of any kind of songs.

Singers like Kumar Sanu & AbhijIt - represent an era of VERY LOW STANDARD TALENT. Nothing more.

i support srak85... only thing is, i won't say Kumar sanu has an "ugly voice".... I personally don't like Sanu's voice at all, because it is ridiculously nasal. I won't say "ugly" - that's the adjective that can describe only Himesh Reshamiya's voice. That guy has no talent whatsoever, no knowledge of Indian Classical Music and a total big-mouth fella !

kumar sanu is only singer who got five censecutive film fare awards and record 28 songs in a single day in 1993 he holds the guinness records for that even today no one can compete him

@anjumnaseer: kumar sanu is the most irritating singer..as if someone held his throat so tight that he was crapping in his pants..donald duck sounds much better..i think u r new to music my friend..compare his voice to manadey,hemant kumar,kishore kumar jagjit singh bhupen hazarika,pankaj udhas,roopkumar rathod..and in the new generation..look at kk,shaan,vijay prakash,mohit chauhan,...wat bout hariharan,shankar mahadevan,srinivas,sp balasubramaniam..ur so outdated dude..!!!

@srak85 You can say anything but i guess that you are new to Hindi Music, u can dislike K.S voice but its not fair to call him as ugly voice. From Jab Koyee Baat Bigar Jaye to Kahi Na Phir dair ho jaye he sung 14000 songs under composition of Top composers which nullify your saying of ugly voice. Producing singer of his caliber is near to impossible in current era he has his own class. Thanks

an interesting remake of Anjali tune .True " aguytr65" original is great but this is also a wonderful mixing by Rahman and the Hindi speaking audience would like that ..

The tune has been directly lifted from Rahman earlier film songs-the tamil song 'Anjali Anjali' from the movie Duet. Plz have a listen to that song. Much better than this one. Tho the lyrics are nice, the music is very simple and superficial..and sound pale in comparison to that ...
