annabelwell, dont generalise, you have seen many black africans but it dont mean its only muslim countries that practice this. ethiopians jews and kenyan christian masai also practice it, Islam does not allow female gential mutilation, the people that practice it are backward.
I have seen this among many, many Muslim African women at the clinic where I work. It is truly horrifying. This goes on in arond 30 countries. In some, 99% of women have been mutilated despite unenforced laws forbidding it.
This has to stop. EVERYONE is entitled to have a whole body and not have their society deem which part of their body they're entitled to have and the rest needs to be amputated.
