You should have gotten a kala its the sane look but if you play them side by side and the kala sound is so soothing .. and now I'm a kala guy so :) try it out
Saw your video response . That was AWESOME ! I wasn't having my best Geritol moment today and needed jst such as you video response .
For real though . My posts really were not intended to be rude . I just sort of used you mood and tone in yor vid to refute but hoped it would also been seen as jesting fellowship minded as two friends might fuss and issue and still be sharing the same boat and fishing hole .
to ragzdaddy! Went there. Subscribed, you got some good stuff there! I can't argue with one thing you said here. Well maybe the whinning part, it has worked wonders for my wife over the years! But have learned about set ups, you were right. The Lanikai now sounds, plays and feels terrific. It also stay in tune better than all my other ukuleles. Fine tuning machines on this little rascal. Only excuse I have is that it was my first ever uke & I was simply disappointed in the intonation. It's fixed
Please accept my invite to my Youtube site where I do a audio/vid to show the wonderful sound and intonation capabilities of the Lanikai LU 21 CE . I'd suggest you learn to do setups . I could have built one in over 30 hours . lol lol lol . But then again , if one stnad around whinning for 29 hours , it really drags the setup out beyond sanity . lol lol
Sorry . I disagree TOTALLY ! No matter what you buy nor what you pay for it . Quality of intonation is by all means a HUGE part of price point . Have you ever watched this video yourself . It would have been even funnier if you'd have an old braod with a barbed wire girdle whinning so much . GEE WHIZ MAN . Double your dose of Geritol . It will work wonders .
The LU 21CE is a well structured unit at a very low price that needs some setting up . PERIOD !
MY MY ME GOODNESS . You'd be better suited saving all the crying for an email to Lanikai . Seems like you got it taken care of . But folks would be better served if maybe you spent your time doing a video on how to deal with some possible problem rather than repeating the crying OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN .
OK ! .. YOU , YOURSELF obviously didn't inspect the instrument before you bought it . MINE IS AWESOME . You're just whinning about your own shortcomings .
You gotta bunk one . Mine is lovely . Although I did have to do a MAJOR setup on the thing . But this puppy sounds wondermously good and great intonation .
But let's face it . No matter what you pay for one , you stil gotta set it up . NO MATTER WHAT !
It's the Lanikai S-T. If it warps much more, I won't be able to adjust the bridge. I'm really pissed. My friends $49 Rogue mandolin had good intonation, stays in tune, and has not warped in spite of 8 x steel strings which impart a lot more tension to the neck.
Hey uncle! My Lanikai tenor...supposedly a step up from their bottom of the line, came with crappy intonation. I've had it about 9 months. It started holding tune from day to day about 6 months ago but the neck has been steadily warping. Initially a good thing because it warped away a hump around the 12th fret that made it buzzy. It also had a loose brace which seems to have fixed itself. I wrote inquiring about local warranty service. The did not bother to respond. My last Lanikai!
I once had a bad-intonation (slightly pricey) ukulele myself, but I wasn't aware enough to return it right away. I gave it away after I carefully explained its shortcomings to the recipient.
Thanks!
I love my Kala. It is in the shop for a "skewed" nut. I have an OS tenor,
but I do not like it, too big for me. I'm going to sell it soon. I do love
the case it came in though.
I have my eyes on a new uke from Moku, and have just ordered a new custom
built koa concert from Willie Wixom.
I have UAS....

Thanks for the review. I went with a Kala, and I wasn't wrong. It's not perfect, but I got my money's worth.

That was an informative little tale.
I once had a bad-intonation (slightly pricey) ukulele myself, but I wasn't aware enough to return it right away. I gave it away after I carefully explained its shortcomings to the recipient.
I hope I've learned my lesson.
