The comments on this video are combative, divisive, and inaccurate. As someone who knows Carson, I am offended by how little care you took to ge background on HIM before making such loaded comments on his education/privilege.
@SpillCity I didn't make any comments about him. He brought up his college education as a reason to talk about his views differently. All I said is that a college education changes nothing but his access to privilege. Recognizing someone's privilege, again, is not an insult. It's an observation. If I wanted to insult him, I'd call him names or something. So far, I'm the only person being called anything here.
Her video? My name is Carson and I'm a transmale. And I've been making videos on youtube since 2007. Please do not (poorly) deconstruct my video and my words, and misgender me in the process. My name is clearly visible on my channel.
@postgender Woah, I never misgendered you. I used your username or gender neutral pronouns, which I didn't see when I looked at your profile On my phone, it's not clearly stated anywhere. I don't have access to YouTube on my computer (it freezes every time). My phone isn't the best quality camera, and so sometimes words don't come out too clear. I can assure you I would never misgender you or anyone else.
@iradgray At 6:03, you say "her video." Not their video. And if you'd ever bothered to WATCH my videos, you would have known I am a transman. And if you'd ever looked at my channel page, you would have seen my name. How do you expect to be taken seriously if you can't be bothered to know who you are talking to? It's insanely impolite.
@postgender I know for a fact I said their. My microphone is shitty quality. I offered to re-make the video if you'd like. Identifying as a man is not indicative of using he/him/his pronouns. Again, on my phone, it doesn't show that information about you, and I have watched your videos.
I would prefer that you examine why my video rattled you so, and I'd like for you to examine your assumptions about me, because I'm guessing you have no idea who you are talking to. I've helped 200 people to transition as a psychologist. My dissertation was on feminist therapy.
@postgender I'm glad you've helped people, but I don't care about your degree, career, or dissertation. All that says to me is that you have more privilege than I do in that regard and that you were taught about feminism from a privileged perspective. But, yeah, I'm glad you've helped people with your privilege.
@iradgray You are very rude. I was raised by working class parents, and I supported my own way through school. I come from a background of mixed race and am a sexual trauma survivor. But, yeah, I went into psychology to PREACH PRIVILEGE.
@postgender Yes, sometimes privilege shifts. You can be both privileged and marginalized. I never said anything about your history or your race (in fact, I share a similar history). I simply noted that being a college graduate puts you in a place of privilege. It's not an insult nor is it rude to point out someone's privilege. But I'm glad you went to discuss privilege dynamics. That's rad.
@iradgray Without even knowing me, you reduced the message of my video to "Can't we just get along?" (way to be dismissive of Rodney King, by the way). I am actually VERY invested in the women and men in our community not ripping each other part for dogmatic purposes.
@Dweebiedo Coercively Gender Male at Birth. Not all trans* folks identify within a binary, and "trans*" was coined in an email thread in the 90s in an attempt to be more inclusive. I guess you could say that it's considered the new age umbrella term that "transgender" once was.
Is the link to the original video still up? I thought this was a very well spoken and kind message

@PapayaKaia Yes. I'll message it to you, since I don't think you can share links in comments.

Oh, dear. Lecturing Carson is not a good thing.

@Dweebiedo Not lecturing Carson but I'm also not going to assume what a viewer knows or does not know.

@postgender Oh okay see what part you mean. I definitely said "their" but if you'd like, I can remake the video.

@postgender Again, I agree that we need to learn to resolve our conflicts but not by way of dismissing the very valid feelings of CGMAB trans* folks.

@iradgray What the hell is "CGMAB trans* folks?"

@iradgray How silly of me. It's so obvious now that you've explained it.

@Dweebiedo Oops, I meant "Gendered" in that last comment.
I'm glad I could be helpful. I have a lot of moments like that myself.
