  • R.I.P grandad your funeral song fly high love you lots

  • Brilliant song Paul young is a talent fair play x

  • great track for nightshifts :)

  • Love this song. How did so many of the negative aspects of black culture become mainstream. The music of the 80's was so beautiful in comparison to todays and only appears to be getting worse, society seems to be declining in parallel to this. What will things be like 20 yrs from now I wonder. I feel for the children.

  • My dad asked me to luk up this song and i actually really like it! :)

  • i love this song

  • This was featured in the movie 'Ruthless People', right?

  • This is so my lucky day. This song has been in my mind since London, a mere 40 years ago and here it is, right here, as clear as it was then. I didn't even know it was Paul Young. Is this heaven? Yep, it's Wherever He Lays His Hat.

  • @AFP20100909

Ah. Wiki says WILMH was a #1 in 1983. Still, it feels like I've been without that song a lot longer than that. :)

  • @AFP20100909

If you didn't already know the original was 20 years before this one,,,

  • Touching song. Paul Young is not well known to this generation but is surely one of the best singers of his generation. Underated and timeless

  • wonderful song... one summer song which changed my life when i was 12

  • Pino Palladino on bass playing a fretless with a touch of octave pedal and perhaps a bit of chorus pedal to boot. Nice work, eh?

  • from previous poster,keep the faith..top,top tune!...1year on!

  • By the look of your tie I can tell you've ate a pie.....it's all over you.

  • @Seaventeares lol

  • Song of Marvin Gaye, it seems ?

  • @Krazukix1 How profound. I'd have to agree.

  • One of the best songs out here !

  • God i love this song!!

  • but then again, tests revealed benoit had the brain of an 80 year old with dementia... i mean i dont think he was right in the head, and he flipped out, killed his wife and son and then realised what he'd done... and tht was it, he done himself in too, i feel bad for the guy because i dont think he meant any harm, he was just taking too much drugs n tht...

  • @Brady2k10 he wasn't necessarily takin too many drugs, though steriods didn't help. He suffered too much head trauma, particularly to the back of his head, which is especially dangerous as he couldn't see the impact and ready his body. Some NFL stars have gone the same way after similar experiences. I read a fucked up article about it once.

  • this song always reminds me of wrestler chris benoit, silly i know but i was listening to this when, on my tv a news report showed Benoit in action and he was doing his flying headbutt move in slo mo and the camera lights were flashing n all that, it was a tribute to him, but a few days later they found out he murdered his wife and son too... and then killed himself, but yea, quite sad the guy fucked up like tht, but killing his own son and wife... thts unforgivable.

  • surely it does

  • I really like this song, when I was in College I was livig in Europe so I remember that this "single was a hit" on the middle od the 80's, I still do remember it!!!! Indeed this version sound so much better than the original one performed by "Marvin Gaye"(with all my respect) Paul Young made a great job on this song, with so much feeling and unforgettable....

  • The funniest lyrics ever!! I can't stop laughing every time I hear this song. I remember writing songs like this when I was a teenager and thought I was being deep and sounded like a mysterious loner.

It's not even set to any real melody. Lol!

  • Wot a tune!

  • Im getting a little bit tired about this discussion which is better. Marvin or Paul. Both songs are GREAT. Very different aswell. You cant really say this one is better or that one is better, they are both very good in their own way. 1 will say I like this one better and another will say this suits me better. Im happy they both made a song like this, even though Paul used the song from Marvin as a Base. That's "My" opinion

  • The music tempo here is better suited to the song than Marvin Gaye's upbeat original. Give Paul this one, Marvin had so many great songs.

  • Just an amazing tune....Oooohhhh :)

  • great song.

missing in this vid .... a mullet

  • Sorry, but the original can't be topped

  • im afraid it can. i usually side with the opinion that the original is better but this is an exception to the rule

  • @Siscly113 Maybe not, but Paul Young delivers his own, and very original interpretation with true feeling and soul. He slows down the pace from Gaye's version and lends a poignancy to the lyric in contrast to The original upbeat reggae feel. This is a remarkable performance in my opinion.

  • mellow tune with a cruel story

  • This is by far better than MG´s version... This is IMO Paul Youngs song...

  • look at the wilf turnbull site the poor confused internet legend has written to Paul about this song, bless him

  • A fantastic rendition of this song which suits Pauls vocal range perfectly - dare I say it better than the original!

  • At last i found it, this is frequently played on Magic fm , Love it !

  • This song has an epic baseline!

  • Laid down by the great Pino Palladino. One of the best bass guitarists around. Has played on so many top artists records.

  • Says like a constipated cat compared to the great Marvin Gaye.

  • :-( :-( :-( :-(

  • sad song

  • Did he sing it?

  • damn, i remember how long i searched for the extended version of this song.

    this is Pauls greatest ...

  • Great Magic Song 5*....gruß Olli-etg.
