They really need to get back together, despite having an original friend missing.
Alot older people are still going...cmon lush. Motivation, get back into our lives, youtube and internet have made you explode far bigger than you conceived back in the 90's.
SUPERB!! This is by FAR the best live Lush video on youtube, and this song is one of their 10 best. I was lucky enough to see them live in June, 1996, so this brings back great memories. So sad they didn't get to stay around and make much more music like this.
@raiderglory - absolutely right. The quality of this is stunning. And those harmony vocals are breathtaking ending on that glorious chord at 3.10. Lush were my all time fav band because they knew how music worked. Listen to how the melody modulates through several keys by employing semitonal intervals, it's just brilliant stuff. Such a loss...
The lyrics for this song are great . Emma could write really good lyrics , and great music as well * On a techincal note , there seemed to be some stage fright in Myki as it is kind of noticeable . But , the important thing is to enjoy this great song
Yes this Riviera 12 was built by the Nashville Gibson Custom Shop in 1993. All the reissue Rivieras made there that year had only 6 strings, except Miki's. It's one a kind, similar to the vintage ones made between 1965 and 1970 at Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This band proves that you don't have to be good at playing or singing to be geniuses at writing. These guys have always astounded me with their incredible songs and hooks.
She didn't try to sing like liz fraser. She always kept her own style, and started out as more of a punk vocalist so I think yr mistaken. Robin Guthrie swamped their sound and made it too similar to the Cocteaus, but at the same time Spooky was a fantastic album.
Split was awesome though. I was nearly the only person I knew that liked this band when I was 16 (1995) took me for fuckin ever to find other fans in the UK.
Fair play to you for sticking to your guns at that age and not choosing Bleur or Noasis with your mates. Sad Lush didn't go on longer, but like Spaced, maybe what we have is perfect. Good spot on the Guthrie production, too - I think he saw This Mortal Coil 2 when he produced Spooky.
This is just like most of their other songs; one listen and ya can't get it outta yer head. And yes, judging by the date of the vid, the end was about 2 months away. Miki we miss u and your sexy little overbite. Cutest face in pop history.
Sad story.....Lush was set to play at my college back in 96 or something. About 3 weeks before the show Chris Acland killed himself. I lost alot more then a chance to see one of my favorite bands that....I pretty much lost one of my favorite bands. Still have some great records and videos like this though. Thanks for posting it.
Wow. Thanks for posting - what an awesome video! This is absolutely by favorite Lush song. Loved them since they first came to the States in 1990!!! Saw them many times and was sad to hear they broke up. Their beautiful music lives on.
fantastic video that I can finally see Emma play some of her wonderful chordings and actually sing into the mike. How did the cameraman take his lens off of Miki?? Wheh!
great posting.... cheers!

@musicobsessive56 I don't have a bloody clue about what a semitonal interval is but you're right. Brilliant stuff indeed. I miss them so much.

Wow... this was filmed four weeks to the day before Chris Acland took his own life. Must have been one of the last ever gigs.

What kind of guitar did Miki use? I see it's a 12 string, but what kind?
Maximilian924 2 years ago
That is an Epiphone Riviera.

It's called a Gibson ES-335/12. I dont know much about guitars but I assume the 12 stands for 12 string.

Split is a great album that sort of disappeared (except for Hypocrite). I can listen from front to back and not feel any impulse to skip anything.

Poor girls seem scared as shit. Lovely song but I just want to give them a big hug and call it off. Studio version is the **it.

I love this song. I love the dreamy feeling it gives off.

Miki's voice improved over the years. It also helped that she stopped trying to sing like Liz Fraser as she did on Spooky and Gala.

No, it's from the album Split, and it's called "Lovelife". The album Lovelife does not feature the song "Lovelife" :)

It varies it seems. She looked way happier on the "Lit Up" video shot two years before at the same venue.
