no the adventure and tamer are 2 different universes, they each have there on set of gurdians and things, so what you see in series 3 of digimon and the first 2 are 2 completely different universes, thats why they can use the cards in this universe to power up and absorb the powers of fallen digimon, also may be why they have different names.

I think any digimon can stay in any form until they run out of the energy needed to stay in that form, such as through combat, and degenerate into lower forms. Partner digimon are kept in Rookie usually because they're smaller and need less energy to maintain, making them easy to hide. Plus, a rookie level digimon's maturity is closer to a child's than a champion or higher's, unless of course the digivice converts a special program or human emotion into energy. What size of dog would you prefer?

Whether or not a digimon can maintain a higher form depends on circumstances. Usually, if a digimon evolves on its own (without a help from a digivice) its usually able to do it.

My only guess for the Omnimon/Omegamon (they're the same digimon, people) is that they got strong enough to maintain the evolution and are a more permanent guardian to the digital gate/world now. Though if you really want to know, why don't you just wiki it? I'm sure someone's written an article on the movie to answer questions like that.

I have an idea: In digimon Adventure, the first chosen childrens have around 7 and 11 years, in digimon adventure 2 they have like 13/15 and 18/10, maybe in this time, they have already dead or they are not digimon tamers anymore. That's when omnimo/omegamon became a guardian of the digital world. The same happens with magnadramon and gallantamon/dukemon in digital monster X-evolution. They are all guardians of the digital world after they have no longer tamers

Mephistmon is the remains of apocalymon from digimon adventure. That's why the movie is called "adventure's battle". I guess their was data left behind when apocalymon died or watever and later on it reformed into Mephistomon(remember mephistomon has shape-shifting abilities thats why he looked like apocalymon) i guess mephistmon was chased all the way to the digimon tamers universe from omegamon. Digimon is a multiverse that stuff can happen.
