  • you sound so sweet :D we have a similar recipe in my country but without the fennel seeds. They probably taste and smell a 100 times better with the seeds in :)

    Can i also add butternut quash/pumkin to the mixture? i ask because in southafrica they make gulgula with mashed butternut squash to make gul gulas like a fritter

  • Manjula Aunty, if you dust powdered sugar on top of all the cooked gulgulas it will look very nice, especially to young children :-)

  • Wow Gulgulas, this is the first time I heard the recipe and reference from India. Mostly Fijians Indians make them. I grew up with my mom/grandma/aunties making gulgulas during Holi times, and for offering to Lord Ganeshji. But the recipe I have is different. Will try this. Thanks for lovely recipe.
