  • It's 2012 now technology is better usb3.0 is better make sure before you guys buy you guys think about that. And thumb this up if you guys think it's important enough for other people to know. And you can pm me for questions too. I know about some of this stuff

  • That's sick you have Woodie playing in the beginning! Great song! Woodie Wood!

  • thanks bro helped out alot i was gonna get the shuttle but all i have is a laptop so im going with the Hauppauge been trying to decide for awhile

  • I find it hard to take anyone serious that is still using internet explorer.

  • @ProGamingControllers You can buy an active USB extension repeater. After 15 ft the USB doesn't work so make sure it's a USB repeater

  • @paradizecityz I would still go with a Hauppauge HD PVR Gaming Edition.

  • If you record compressed do you still need a RAID setup?

  • hd pvr doesn't need to be plugged into your computer to record right ?

  • @ProGamingControllers

I own PVR & Intensity Pro, so I can tell you it needs to be connected to your PC and it has 3-5 seconds delay. So you would want to play it on your TV.

  • @JTeKuProjects im asking, how long is the component wire ?

  • @ProGamingControllers

The component wire that comes with is the usual about 6 feet.

  • @JTeKuProjects i have a big problem then, cause my pc and my ps3, are in different rooms, about 6m away from each other, what can i do. ( its a desktop )

  • @ProGamingControllers

Well, obvious the best way is to just move your PS3 closer to your PC cause the other choice is to buy longer cables if it still doesn't reach use adapters connect the components but the longer the cables it may cause to distort of some sort.

  • @JTeKuProjects i can't move either one though

  • As of now (2012) can I record 1080p @60fps with the Shuttle?

  • @TheGamersHud not with the Shuttle

  • @paradizecityz if you cant with the Shuttle, what about the HD PVR?

  • @AlexRedShock nope

  • @paradizecityz em... so wich is better then? i gonna buy one, but i dont know wich one

  • @AlexRedShock better would be blackmagic product but you have to decide if you can afford the pc upgrade as well

  • @paradizecityz PC Upgrade? like what? video card? ram? mine has 1gb video, 4gb ram, and AMD Phenom Black Edition X4

  • @AlexRedShock

If you are looking for 1080p @ 60 fps, there is Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt for $239 or the Blackmagic Intensity Extreme $300 on their website.

If you are willing to spend extra money on upgrade, cables + raid HDDs go Blackmagic it is the best quality capture. If you want simple works outta the box HD PVR is worth the money. I owned both but Blackmagic will cost you tons even though they're same price mostly buying expensive HDDs, HD PVR don't requires fast HDD.

  • @paradizecityz what chu mean pc upgrade -_- my pc was bought in 12-18-2010 but this computer work fine to be with adobe after affect , photoshop , all kind of program -_-

  • so my laptop specs are:

    i7 2670QM (2.2 ~ 3.1 ghz)

    8GB Ram

    750GB HDD

    Geforce GT 555M 1GB

    2x USB 3.0

    1x USB 2.0

Would the shuttle run fine on my laptop?

  • I use HDMI, X-Box 360 black 250 GB Hard Drive, and my computer is about a year old. What do I get????? :(

  • The cost is about 200 for both

  • Thanks for your review, one of the best and most complete reviews or comparisons i`ve ever seen.

I think i`m going for Hauppauge Gaming Edition as i just want it to record xbox games.

  • whats the cost of theses except pvr?

  • do they all work with make ?

  • @TRUEKOMBAT52 nvm i asked this before watching lol

  • I record with the hd pvr and think the quality is better.

If you want to see the quality visit my channel:

  • Is the intenisity shuttle able to able to capture in 1080p now or will we have to wait for another deisgn?

  • @iMpAcTxGamingD still not yet and I don't think they will update this to be able to

  • would my computer be able to run the black magic intensity pro?

intel core i5 quad core @ 3.00 ghz

    12gb ddr3 133,hz Ram

    500gb 7200 rpm hard drive

    ??

  • @CynicalGrunt it didint sound good better usin hdpvr but yes it will work

  • @CynicalGrunt yea

  • @CynicalGrunt yes

  • @CynicalGrunt The processor is not that great, but yes, it will be able to run it, but buy a separate hard drive to record with.

  • @EnhancedExhaust processor not that great? wtf are you talking about?

  • @CynicalGrunt 3.00 Ghz or what it was isn't that fast. Now days you can get 4.5 Ghz, but it will be able to work just fine with the Black Magic.

  • @EnhancedExhaust i know but its quad core intel. intel allows for more processes per second. but who cares i could run the black magic on my old pentium i just didnt know about the hard drive

  • @CynicalGrunt I was just pointing it out, but whatever.

  • If your looking for a capture card that doesn't need a computer look for. Avermedia game capture HD. You will have it for aproximately 280$.

  • Sorry 180$

  • Anything that has Black magic in it must have been make by gypsy's

im just going to get a PVR for Christmas

  • can you give me an example of a laptop that would be compatible with the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle?

  • @NintendoWizardHD No, USB 2.0 bandwidth is to slow. USB 3.0 is about 10x faster than 2.0.

  • My main hardrive is 1T, 845gt free - good for Intensity Pro?

  • I'm a noob with this stuff... can any of them record without being hooked up to a computer? I guess I'm asking if they have a hard drive.

  • @paradizecityz Are you famliar with any that do not require to be hooked up to a computer?

  • @paradizecityz I have a PS3, you're saying in the description I can't use either Blackmagic product with my PS3 to record in HDMI?

  • @xTheAceGamer You can you just can't have it hooked up directly to either recorder through HDMI, PS3 has HDCP build in which prevents recording directly from HDMI.

  • @godsinferno Know any simple ways around it?

  • @xTheAceGamer I think the Shuttle has component outputs so you should be able to record through component on the PS3, I don't know anyway around the HDMI restriction though you might want to look that up.

  • @redsoxloverjeff all the ones that gamers use or that i know of, all require a computer connection to record

  • @paradizecityz Ok, thanks. Is there something you can buy for the card to make it possible? (I'm really sorry for all these questions)

  • @redsoxloverjeff i doubt it becuz they all require some sort of software to be able to record

  • @paradizecityz Ok then, thanks for the help. No recording for me... :(

  • Okay sooo please help me :) ... i need good advice, i want to start recording, i have finally got some money to buy one, i play xbox 360 ps3 and wii... just i dont want to waste money, the happauge seems a little to costly but i dont really know... what should i do? or buy?

  • @MRNAYNAY128 You get sound out of your computer

  • All these people complaining about 720p don't realize that most console games render at 720p or below; Running the console at 1080p lowers the image quality by resampling. The idea behind setting the output to 1080p is that the console's resampling will be better than most TV resamplers.

In a perfect world, the game would run at the native resolution of the TV, so no resampling gets done at all and you get a clean picture. In this case, if you're recording, you definitely want it set to 720p.

  • Seems so much cheaper just to get a PVR.

  • Does HD PVR work for macbooks?

  • @TheCubsfamily Yes :)

  • Hey paradize, sorry if you've answered this already, but: Does the shuttle record in 1080p, 60fps, yet?

Also, I have two video cards that I could use. I'll keep one and get rid of the other. ONE of them has an HDMI Slot. I assume that I need a video card with an HDMI slot, right? (my motherboard doesn't have HDMI)

I understand that I could be awesome and look it up myself. However, that would be awesome if you could answer. Thank you.

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy Not yet...at least I dont know of. Not sure why you're talking about HDMI on your video card?

  • @paradizecityz Yeah.... I don't, either. I don't know what I was thinking.

  • where to find wich usb i have (where to find usb 3.0 in my pc)

  • I think I'm going for the Blackmagic Intensity Pro.

My PC can handle it, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 1GB video card, still need a Full HD monitor, now I use a HD Ready one.

Also easier using HDMI instead of component cables.

I play on PS3, will it record in 1080p 60fps? If not then 1080i 60fps is ok too.

  • im still going to go with the PVR.

Im gonna guess and say most of the vids of gaming on youtube are done by laptops. not PC's.

Not to mention most laptops dont even have 3.0 usb.. pvr wins again.

and pvr is just easier to use.

sure it uses component, but just buy the right hd component cables and youll see no difference.

ill be getting an HD PVR to record my gears 3 gameplay wen its out i have already seen footage of the pvr at work in the gears 3 beta.. crystal clear hd.

  • @ItachiXio I'm totally not arguing, here. I'd just like to say, though, that I cannot play/record Xbox 360 with component cables on 1080p. There is an annoying lag on the TV screen. Do you play on a PS3? I do think that the HD PVR is the best solution for PS3 users.

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy Well thats why most use 720p lol. No, I have a PS3 but.. no games for it. PVR is best for any system in my op.. cant wait to get mine.. hope its still on sale when i have the money.

  • @ItachiXio My bad. I didn't see this comment. I'm just being picky - I don't want to play in 720p haha. Hopefully you get your games and get recording as soon as you can.

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy dude, im still on HDMI right now, i cant even tell the difference between 1080 and 720, most games dont even go up to 1080.

  • @ItachiXio I actually can tell the difference. I had my cousin right next to me playing in 1080p, while I played in 720p. There is a slight difference. I already have the shuttle, though, so no turning back. I just want to know if I have to buy another HDMI cord or not.

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy well im glad i cant see it lol. it also depends how far or close you sit to the tv. i used to sit real close but now i dont. yeah once i get all ym gears 3 shit, ill be broke. cant get the PVR till like Oct. Another HDMI cord for what?

  • @ItachiXio Yeah, if you can't see the difference, don't bother lol.

Since the Shuttle has an HDMI in/out, I'll need one to go from Xbox to shuttle, then another from shuttle to computer (I assume.)

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy yeah i'd assume, one for tv to xbox, another to shuttle, to pc.. or something i dunno lol.

what game are you buying the shuttle for?

  • @ItachiXio NBA 2K and Call of Duty. I meant TV, not computer. I actually just answered my own question. I'll need an HDMI cord, but it's not to be plugged into the computer. I don't know what I was thinking.

Xbox to Shuttle; Shuttle to TV. Shuttle connects to computer via USB 3.0. - All good.

  • @aWeirdCreeperGuy also, HD component cables not regular cables

  • @ItachiXio By "regular cables" you mean "composite cables"? If so, then yeah, I know. You're point? (not getting nasty, just curious.)

  • @ItachiXio uhh laptops aren't made for converting/editing video, anyone with a bit of sense uses a desktop for that.

Anyway I think I'll go with the Hauppauge because I won't take the risk of choppy video's because my hard drives are too slow.

  • you make it seem like hd pvr was bad but when you were talking about it, there is nothing you have to buy for making it work, you dont have to upgrade anything, its prob cheaper, its external so you can move it to your basement if you need to or your friends house. and xbox is only 720p anyway, why do you need to record in 1080p? so what its only 1080i, its more than what the xbox can handle, and i heard youtubes hd can only go to 1080i not even 1080p, i have the hd pvr and i recommend it!

  • You forgot the Hauppauge Colossus

  • do you rally think it can record without the pc on, without pc, no hdd, no hdd, no video becuz u cant store it anywhere

  • i have the hd pvr and bmi and they all just as good as each over even though you bmi record 60 fps when in 1080i but the pvr is so easy to use and doesn't require much

  • Does the HP Envy 15 with i7 Processor actually work with the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle? if not do you know of a laptop that will?

  • HP PVR is the best due to the fact that it isn't a memory whore and it has much more powerful software.

  • @Xylogeist Yeah But it is a cable whore..

  • @Gunadd1ct No, it isn't. You can't record HDMI anyways because USB isn't fast enough for that type of data transfer.

  • besides the hdpvr does any of those work for ps3?

  • @DarkraiDudeEX yes, but i believe the blackmagic needs additional hardware though

  • @paradizecityz ok so first of all my "r" key is a little sketchy so forgive me if I miss an r. Ok so i have a mac laptop. I only record on this so that eliminates the intensity pro i think. I dont have component cables available on my tv unless i buy the part (IDK why but there is not an avi or the green red blue thing. I am very confused with this topic i can make a private video if you would like to help me further and i would send you a link

  • @KVB41x96 not sure what you question is? if it's what to get, you need to get the hauppauge hd pvr since the blackmagic is eliminated because you use a laptop. you just need to get a converter such as component-->"whatever connection" you have

  • Does the shuttle work with Mac?!

  • why u use IE? ://

  • @Jetstr34m i think they are cheaper but are harder to install

  • will i be able to play in HD with any of these capture cards ? thats my main question. i had a dazzle hd and it allowed me to record in hd but i was able to play in HD.

  • @RacMyCoon Im sorry i meant i had a dazzle hd and it allowed me to record in HD but i could *NOT* play in HD.

  • @RacMyCoon that dazzle doesnt record in HD either. it records in SD, but the software it comes with can render it in HD. which is pointless cause it was still recorded in sd lol

  • I have a laptop i got for christmas at the end of last year. Which of these products would you recommend? I did a tiny bit of research on the BlackMagic and it looks incredible, but i've heard really good things about Hauppauge HD PVRs as well. As far as i can tell, a BlackMagic is not an option for me. Thanks

  • @Squishlemonking i would say go with the hauppauge

  • And can you record at 1080P 60 fps? now. because if you can i want it

  • @MrGamingxglitcher no it cannot

  • 3.0 usb. thats the bleu one right because i have that.

  • @MrGamingxglitcher yup yup

  • I have a toshiba laptop running on AMD turion x2, bought in 2008 i think, which device can my computer best handle? I had a lot of problems with the simple roxio so i'm a bit concerned

  • Digital isn't necessarily better than Analog.

Listen to Thriller on a vinyl and a good vacuum tube amp and speaker system and then then listen to it on an iPod.

You'll find the record sounds better.

  • @commodore256 but thats audio?

  • @azmanic Yeah, bet If can get HD video without DRM, I'll do it.

But that's hard to do with HDMI due to HDCP. I want something like a VCR, but HD.

But, that setup will cost me $250+around $10 per month

    Hauppauge HD PVR:$200

HDMI to Component Adapter that supports HDCP: $50

A HD Box from my Cable Company: around $10 per month

Analog's other advantage with video is you can have VGA at higher resolutions than HDMI. (depending on the monitor)

  • Who really needs 1080p youtube videos? super large files. 720p exporting is finee. only reason is cause hdmi is much simpler than a pvr

  • I have a Pvr and i would just like to say it has great quality and probably the same with the blackmagic so just stop flaming over a pointless arguement

  • @OBEAN0o there's a difference between the Hauppauge "great" quality and the Blackmagic's uncompressed so unless you know what you are talking about, stop making yourself look stupid

  • Blackmagic Intensity Pro

You can record 1080i 59.95 FPS without issue from Xbox 360. Just make sure your console is set to 1080.

  • The big thing is using a SATA HDD that is directly connected to PC not through USB.

  • Does Pvr work with laptop then?

  • @SMGClanx laptop, use fraps!! much eaiser to record

  • @EmreSkater and its hd!

  • HD PVR is better! nuff said.

  • @Trent074 ever seen uncompressed footage from a Intensity Pro? smashes the HD PVR

  • @GTAfreAk112 NO WAY

  • im building a computer soon and almost got all my gear and your wrong about it having be a top of aline motherboard to have 3.0 usb i mean maybe bk then when u made this video but ive got a bundle for only $380 and has a motherboard and a HDD and a i5 2nd gen and a 2x 2gb ram sticks and so on and so forth i still gotta buy the power and tower and video card seprete but gunna cost up to $900 but it be worth it anyways why am i talkin about this well the motherboard alone is only $100 and its 3.0

  • @batty251 i dont think i said anywhere that it had to be top of the line...i was saying had to be the like p55 or x58 motherboard which is on the higher end back then as well

  • @paradizecityz well at least you can do is say a message on your video before it starts saying you dnt have to go looking for a p55 or x58 motherboard you can just buy any motherboard these days but check closely to see if its positive it has USB 3.0 usually its the blue usb port on the motherboard

  • @batty251 3.0 USB and 2x pci express 1x and 1x pci express 2.2 16x and its got one other slot i forgot but u get what i mean and i saw another motherboard for only $70 and has same slots and usb 3.0

  • Most games don't even support 1080p. Almost ALL games play at 1080i 59.97/60 FPS so you can't really say that's a con for using the Shuttle for the 360.

  • Please respond.. I want to buy one of these. But really, I don't have a USB 3.0 for the black magic intensity. And I want it. I just ordered a brand new laptop that I hope will meet the black magics standards. And I think they have add on ports that are 3.0 for your computer. Now if I can't get it, I want the PVR, but do you need an HD TV for the PVR? Please help. Thanks!

  • Very well done. Very informative.

  • The thing is, there are no xbox games that renders in full 1080p. It's just upscaled. Meaning that recording in 1080p wont do shit.

  • when you say hdmi is better than component your saying it from the persective of a machine, that anolouge is worse and other crap, and not commenting on what the human eye can see, stop thinking you know more than us cause if your treating us like robots your gonna look like a dick, it would have been easier for everyone including you for you to say hdmi is better but not by much we can see, instead of being a bias bitch towards a type of cable

  • @ObservedFIREFLY thought I just said/posted that overall, HDMI is better. This video isn't about why HDMI is better then components, it's about these devices and most of the time, the viewer are not interested in why...if they are, they would ask or would google it to find out. but basically you saw this video about these capture cards that I talked about but you only took in the part where I said HDMI is better? nice...

  • Does A Asus Notebook G73Sw Series Laptop w/ Intel Core i7 Processor work with the BM Intensity Shuttle?

  • @CrimsonEntertainment Blackmagic Intensity will not work with a laptop.

  • Does it capture in HDMI? If not, I could just record in av or component and connect it to my monitor to play using HDMI out right?

  • Does the hauppauge work with a vaio 64 bit e series laptop with dual proccesers?

  • @paradizecityz :D but not the blackmagic's correct?

  • @xIdiosincrasy negative

  • @paradizecityz Ok so just buy a hauppauge?

  • @xIdiosincrasy that would be best for ya! :)

  • @paradizecityz :) So basically get $150 and sell my dazzle?

  • I am getting an HD external capture cards but I don't know which one I have three on my list right now Hauppauge HD PVR or AVerMedia darkcrystal hd capture card external or Blackmagic intensity shuttle please give some advice I want the one that would be the easiest to use and I would like to know if the cards come with all the wires and stuff

  • Is there any other laptops that work? what about other USB 3.0 cards? And does it have to have the i7 processor?

  • Only cool people with usb 3.0 get to use the shuttle because were cool.

  • FUCK! Black Magic Pro doesn't fit it, Shuttle uses 3.0 USB, HD PVR only has Component, no HDMI. AVer HD DVR is apparently shit according to ratings. WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO DAMMIT!!! >.>

  • wait im confused does the black magic shuttle work on a laptop?

  • Will a hdpvr work with a macbook pro laptop???

  • @SiLenTGam1ng yea works with mac and pc

  • would the BLACKMAGIC DESIGN INTENSITY SHUTTLE work with a laptop ?

  • @KondratK9 shuttle would if u have usb 3.0 not pro

  • Hey, can i run the black magic intensity pro on a Sony Vaio F Series laptop. It has usb 3.0. With quadcore intel core i7. Runs on a acpi x64.

  • @TheVaioGear No

  • @paradizecityz seriously?

  • @TheVaioGear U cant run a internal pci card in a laptop

  • @paradizecityz Opps i just realized i said pro. LOL i meant the shuttle

  • @TheVaioGear why not get the intensity shuttle?

  • @OGYOSHI0007 i am planning to, the comment u saw was a typo. I meant to say shuttle but i said pro =p
