hi! i was wondering if you've ever used a warmer? I think i'm totally spoiled by that thing... I'm still training, and we haven't used the pureflow (hopefully that is tomorrow)
how are things going for you nearly 4 years later?
I actually use the warmer quite a bit. I prefer the pureflow, though (until the built in heater goes out though). I actually am doing good 4 years later, and my kidney is starting to work again!
Thanks for showing. We are thinkng of this for myhusband but I feel like it might be to overwhelming. I'm sure there's a lot more to learn about it than just the set up part. Nervous
To Rena, usually once a patients CGF is 15 they start dialysis. Of course this can differwith everyone & with every doctor. Excersise doesn't exactly make the kidenys better but it can help with high BP and that it turn can help your kidneys. With end stage though, the only option is dialysis or transplant. Ecersis is great in al cases but especially to help prevent you from kidney diasease.
In the US, the patient doesn't have to pay for the machine. We sort of "lease" the machine and it's paid for by our insurance. The actual purchase cost for this machine is around $20,000
This is a great educational video. Do you exercise also to keep your own kidneys functioning. I often wonder what is the GFR kidney dialysis patients.
I don't exercise as often as I should, but I'm trying to do it more. When I started dialysis two and a half years ago, my GFR was 12, now it's zero. I have absolutely no kidney function remaining.
The machine is made by NxStage Medical and is called the System One. Right now it's approved only for short-daily dialysis (six days/wk-two to three hr), but it will eventually be approved for nocturnal treatments as well.
Hi Adam! I was watching your vids and I think it is great that you share your experience with everyone! I also have been reading your access problems on kidney-friends net and I hope the best for you. I have done PD and HD. Both have their pros and cons. You have to do what is best for you. Good luck! Thx for sharing the vids :) - Angie
Home Hemo is absolutely amazing. For those of you who are losing your kidney function, learn about peritoneal dialysis as well. It can be done at home also. I applaud you for doing this video and will be following your progress. Have you ever done PD? If so, do you feel better on home hemo? I know many people on peritoneal dialysis that love it and are very active doing activities like cheerleading, basketball, tennis, golf, etc. Good luck with your dialysis.
I've never done PD, but I've been having some problems with my hemo access, and if I can't get a good functioning fistula or graft (two failed fistulas and one dying graft), I plan to try PD.

Thank you for your video! I learned more from your video than the one given to me from NxStage. Thanks again.
