  • Yo--sanjuz---love your "Deep Space Projectile" metaphor. Nunk!

  • Deep Space Projectile

  • aaaaaaaaaa u kiillllll meeeeeeee verry nice remumber this ! thk

  • Hooked on Nunk!

  • WOW

  • Had to come back for another hit of "Nunk." Killer!

  • Under the radar, you got it! The producers of Warp 9 pushed the boundaries and made it possible for others to have much success. Sometimes the real innovators are unsung. But with a little research, you find out who is behind the big movements in music.

  • YEAH NUNK!

  • major contribution to future hip hop. great track.

  • Warp 9 rocks. Remember the Funhouse!

  • Came back for more--rocks you to the core. Hard electro.

  • classic! .. love it since heared it on "AFN-Berlin 88FM"

  • This my shit in 83...Lincoln U. Philly!

  • one of the best grooves...ever!

  • I'm getting hooked on "Nunk." I'm looking for the instrumental dub on vinyl.

  • Groundbreaking track.

  • Seminal Warp 9, by electro funk master producer/writers Lotti Goden & Richard Scher.

  • Many of those who follow music identify 1982 as the year that spawned hip hop. Technically, rap goes further back, to the Last Poets, however hip hop styled rap, or modern rap, owes a huge debt to Planet Rock, Nunk, & Al Naafiysh just to name a few groundbreaking records released in 1982. BTW, the synth line in Nunk's fade is awesome!

  • Classic electro! The year that changed music 1982. Great song, track.

  • Yes to synchronoise71's comment: "proper electro-funk." That's right, and not mass produced--creative and experimental. Progressive electro hip hop that influenced the later 80's from Janet Jackson to Prince and beyond.

  • The real deal!

  • classic track! I still have the 12'" inch

  • A mega classic.

  • Any one who digs "Nunk" should check out a lesser known, but great Warp 9 jam called "Beat Wave." It's here on YouTube, and the sound quality it top-notch. I just listening and wanted to let y'all know. Enjoy! (Meanwhile I'm listening to break-down on "Nunk" --bass & drums. So good.)

  • Classic electro. Kudos to writer/producers Lotti Golden and RIchard Scher who dreamed this up and made it reality!

  • I still have this vinyl in it's original sleeve... I thought I was the only one!

  • Great recording! Killer groove.

  • Oh yeah!

  • Warp 9's "Nunk" is is one of the greatest early electro hip hop songs of all time. Released in 1982 it ranks right up there with "Planet Rock" and "Al-Naafiysh", agreed. The groove is monumental.

  • Nunk me out! This rocks! Hard!

  • manhill--that's very right on :-) --Warp 9 did kind of look like an electro funk version of Shalamar. Especially because there was a female in the band.

  • Oh, forgot to mention another great Warp 9 song, but not as well known as Nunk is called Beatwave. You can find it on YouTube. Peace.

  • "Nunk" is a perfect representation of early electro funk hip hop. Came out a little after "Plant Rock" the seminal track that changed the course of music. Many of the producers of electro like Arthur Baker, John Robie, Lotti Golden and Richard Scher (Nunk) collaborated on other projects and played their tracks at "The Funhouse." Those were great days!

  • Thats right MrRossogood--and Madlib sampled from one of Golden's tracks on that '69 "Motor-Cycle" LP on his "Beat Konducta Vol 1–2: Movie Scenes" album, called it "Gold Jungle Tribe."

  • One of the producers on Warp 9's iconic "Nunk" is a woman--Lotti Golden. Ms. Golden also recorded a groundbreaking rock (jazz, soul, R&B) album on Atlantic records in 1969, "Motor-Cycle."

  • Nunk, Planet Rock, Al-Naafiysh all early electro funk that defined the genre. Producers: RIchard Scher & Lotti Golden, Jellybean, Arthur Baker & John Robie, and Hashim. Visionaries all.

  • If you enjoy this vocal version of Nunk, I suggest checking out the instrumental mix posted on YouTube by 0x51d. Both are killer. Enjoy!

  • One of the most iconic of early electro hip hop. 1982 and the production sounds tremendous all these years later.

  • kbp5060--hope you revist, 'cause you can by this on iTunes. The album is "Beat Wave" and Nunk is on the CD. I'm not sure if it is exactly this version though--there are so many mixes, but I think this one may be on the album. Hope it helps.

  • Serious ultimate electro. Influenced many artists. A shout-out to producer/writers Richard Scher and Lotti Golden. Yo!

  • Yo man been lookn for dis DA MFin JAM THANKS tor this, please RECONIIIZE OLD SKOOL HIP/HOP once again!!!

  • YES SIR!!!

  • The bomb!

  • ima start gettin into breakdancing. it was my all time favorite style bcuz of its inhuman and gravity defying twists and turns!!!

  • DAMN, PERFECT!! ANOTHER MILESTONE FROM BACK OF THOSE DAYS!

  • proper electrofunk and not mass-produced bullshit for kids! amazing trackage!

  • I love this. where can you buy this?

  • i remember hearing this around november or december of 1982 in LA, it wasnt played on KDAY, i only heard it on KGFJ, AM 1230 i believe

  • Lovely bass sound on this.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • "NUNK" stands the test of time, still sounds amazing. One of the top electro jams.

  • The bomb. Nothing else like "NUNK"!

NUNK and Planet Rock are the best electro jams--of course, there were so many good ones, it's hard to choose, but I'll stick with these at the top of my list...

BTW, Lotti Golden & Richard Scher produced this with Jellybean.

  • Sounds killer! Just like I remember it! The best of electro!

  • I remember this one well always used to play it along with stuff like: Jonzun Crew - Space is the Place, C.O.D. - In the Bottle, Planet Rock - Afrika Bambaataa, Man Parrish - Hip Hop Be Bop (Don't Stop), Newcleus - Jam on Revenge (Wikki-Wikki Song) & loads of others.

  • @richwicz true. awsome music back in those days. makes me wanna cry... nah, not really ;)

  • @manhill Sure was, I had the Warp 9 album too, Beatwave. They looked like an electrofunk version of Shalamar on the front cover.

  • nice synth action , this was before my time

  • Glad you liked it : )

  • Dont recall this one, but being a Jellybean production, and 1982 release year, and good song,, another 5 * s!!!!!

  • Much thanks !! : )

  • @intromix yeh most def under the radar....there were so many jams out there at the time...
