That does look like a real nice road.
And I don't think that car was entirely unapropiate, it does have a very comfy cruise, which I reckon stood you in good stead on that surface. :)

Obviously I've heard the song before, but never considered that it might be inspired by the fact that Route 66 is indeed one hell of a nice drive.

It was written by a guy who lived by Route 66 before he went to WWII, and was performed by Nat King Cole, if memory serves me well.
