  • Wonderful!

Two people just missed the LIKE button ;o)

  • I think I'm in love! ;o) He's form Québec!!! Ah ben j'ai mon voyage!!!! Lucky me! ;o)

  • cant believe he sold this guitar :( WE WILL MISS ELORA! :( the new guy that has it better not fuck it up ill kill him.

  • My personal favorite by Erik, cant stop listening!

  • Just Awesome! Simply Awesome...

  • this is music

  • I forgot to notice they have the same name ;-)

  • The song is very special inspirational...... Theme reminds me a bit on a song from Eric Garner: Susy, as it is a continuation course in a positive.

  • how can you sit like that

  • so beautiful elegant technical tragic unique conflate fetching Halcyon felicity and always efflorescence. erik sir, god bless your hands!

  • What I don't get is why the video switches to Equilibrium (a completely different song) from 3:22 - 3:40 :S

  • @bourky93 My apologies about that. I didn't edit this video, myself. Actually I don't own this video at all, so I shouldn't have posted it in the first place, really. But so many people have favourited it by now that they could lose it if I took it down.... Conundrum!!

  • @barrywalsh789 I'm not complaining by any means... Just questioning that one thing is all :p I love this song so much :D If you take it down I will probably hurt you ;D

  • it is pure brilliance, in it's sound, but (coming from someone who understands music ALOT) its simplicity in how a number of elements go together.

break it down with the music theory--what chords sound nice together (G, C, Em, D and Am is a good easy one), and thats a nice ear-appealing song right there. countless country and rock songs are in G....

now he's made it SOUND more complicated with the added slapping/tapping with offbeats (sujjesting drum lessons to understand that much). simple

  • Who would win in a Canadian brawl between Erik Mongrain and Georges "Rush" St. Pierre? Erik gets to bring his acoustic in the ring though to even it out...

  • This is one of my favorites eric, your style is very inspirational!

  • reminds me of that picasso painting ,,, i have that tattoo 1/4 sleeve right forearm

    your the shi erik!!!

  • prize to whoever can find the mistake in the video. and also give the correct answer to the mistake

  • @benjamincastleberry He just misses the harmonics on the 7th fret just after the 3 minute mark. That's only one mistake though, very impressive. I font think I've vet gotten this song 100% right, your left hand is always moving..... So what's my prize? :D

  • @barrywalsh789

psshhh. you know way more about this song then I. Kudos to you. There is an editing error at the end that goes to Equilibrium. As far as I know Erik nailed this song.

  • @barrywalsh789 i agree

  • @barrywalsh789 WRONG! the actual mistake is that hes supposed to be asian:D

  • @barrywalsh789 but its not about getting a 100% right is it, its art and should alter depending on who you are, your feelings, and how you want to express them

  • @logician008 Not at all. I'd rather hear a tiny mistake if the song is played with emotion, instead of it being 100% correct with no feeling behind it. Besides, any tiny slips like that just make it seem more real to me

  • @benjamincastleberry You talking about the editing mistake around 3:30 where it cuts to him playing Equilibrium? Solution: Hire a better editor?

  • @benjamincastleberry You talking about the editing mistake around 3:30 where it cuts to him playing Equilibrium? Solution: Hire a better editor?

  • @beerfullofbelly

Spot On! Just seemed like on odd mistake

  • @benjamincastleberry i wonder what the prize is that you received for being a perfect guitar player...i mean you must be the absolute best to point out and criticize other peoples mistakes...

haha but seriously, up yours lol.

  • @HometownHonky

It has nothing to do with Erik's guitar ability, but the editing of the video. So before you draw conclusions find out what I am talking about!

  • @benjamincastleberry

What if Erik meant for it to be this way?

  • @benjamincastleberry Who cares if he makes mistakes? I don't care how good anyone claims to be, everyone makes mistakes. If you just play over it and not worry about it (which he did) then it doesn't matter and THAT is what shows he is a professional. Besides, it's pretty hard to get harmonics 100% spot on each and every time so I don't know what the big deal is.

  • @bourky93 He actually didn't make a mistake as far as I could. The editor of the video sure did though lol. you can't just cut in footage from an other song.

  • @NewDjango There was one harmonic that he muffled a bit late in the song but like I said, it really doesn't matter much :P And I pointed out the video mistake a few days ago lol.

  • @benjamincastleberry 3:22 to 3:45 is footage from Equilibrium.

  • before listening to this music you need to close your eyes because the technique he use can make you a little deaf while he's playing...

  • Everybody that says that you will never be able to be as good as Erik. That is because you haven't found your own voice in music yet. Which you will one day. Every great musician has and you will too. Just got to strive for it.

  • Thats exactly my music taste. And you're the one who can play it!

  • This guy could go to any party in the world, pull out his guitar and have any girl there within 5 minutes. What a beautiful masterpiece.

  • 2 guys with no sense for good, genius-made music...

  • Anybody who thinks Erik is using loops is dead wrong. I've seen him play most of his repertoire acoustically, meaning not plugged in, and there you hear it : everything done there with his fingers. There lies the magic of his craft. He dwells in polyphony, interspersed with rhythm. He is a great composer. Not a subproduct of Michael Hedges, but a sublimation of him, something altogether new, with a touch and vision all his own. Don't even try to think badly of him. You don't even come close.

  • I know Eric rocks and is just one of the finest guitarists around, but I've got to say about this video "what a cool guitar he's playing"!

  • Simply superb.

  • I cant believe that i cant find a single one of his songs on i-mesh. I have to come here just to listen to him it sux...... Awesome music though. 5 minutes and he can make you completely zone out.

  • I so much love this song, but that's Erik's worst live song to him... I saw him a few months ago and it was awesome

  • sure, but he will need to contact his tounge on my nuts first

  • HAHAHA !

  • Hearing Erik Mongrain's music, and knowing, as a guitarist, i could never, ever be able to create anything anywhere close to its brilliance... it is painful

  • @BruceLeDouche yeah... every time I hear this I think: jesus, this is just beautiful but on the other side I think: I will kill myself, cause I know I will never play like him...

  • @BruceLeDouche wow, can you have any less faith in yourself? lol..."whether you think you can or you can't, you're right"

  • @BruceLeDouche There ain't no way you can feel pain after hearing something like that.

  • @BruceLeDouche agree with you. It really hurts!

  • genious.

  • does anyone know the tuning?

  • EGDF#AC#. It's in the description.

  • @barrywalsh789

That is one of the weirdest tunings I've ever seen. Particularly because of the C#. He must be using different gauges.

  • @Oithissucks

Erik uses Elixir strings medium gauge all over

  • @Nicklasjohanzzon Elixer, really? Man. My guitar must need to be intonated, cuz I had elixers on there not too long ago, and I was breakin strings left and right trying this song.

  • @Nicklasjohanzzon He actually uses Light gauge quite a lot too.

  • @bjeffrobn hur hur. PWNED! D:

  • Memo to self " sort you're space bar out fool" lol "disrespectfulto do so"

  • ya i posted this ages ago when they were one full video on his website and not on youtube, but erik's posted it himself too since then

haha i noticed that too. era it's not as bad as those people who take the time to cApItAlIzE eVeRy SeCoNd LeTtEr FoR nO gOoD rEaSoN, it makes it really difficult to read!!

  • I'm so. strait but f***... do I love this guy and his playing. He's globally famous yet isn't.A double edged sword,to be a household name which you would want for him against losing the intimacy of his gigs.(Tricky one huh?)Thanks for posting the vid Barry even though I have seen it 1000's of times it never fails to lift ya.What I find funny is,even if i'm busy and have it playing theres no way i can close the vid, feels really disrespectfulto do so.

  • one of his best plays

  • Why have you edited in video footage from Equilibrium around 3:22 to 3:44?

  • I didn't. I noticed that as well. All I did was download the video off his website and cut them into separate songs and put them up on YouTube before they were posted on Erik Mongrain's page. He has them up too, if you look at his video of Muse you'll see it had parts of Equilibrium in there too

  • That's pretty weird, huh? Well regardless, thanks for uploading it.. really helps when trying to work it all out :)

  • Yeah haha. You can figure out most of the song from the first half of this video. The very end wih the harmonics can be figured out from his live video on Reunion Island :)

  • my favorite song

  • fucking epic

  • Wow il est fou!!! Meilleur Guitariste que j'ai vu dans ma vie!!!

  • this is by far his best song in my opinion!

  • i love his style absolutley incredible

  • It's amazing that he never really took lessons other than highschool music class after starting guitar at the age of 14. The way he plays is enchanting and for him to play so well without decades of practice is truly a talent. : )

  • i Need to know the tuning..

    do you know it?

  • Tuning: EGDF#AC#.

  • Thanks, sorry, I must of not seen it in the description!

  • this is hot

  • what guitar is it ?

  • It's a kingslight K-38 model, custom made, I think.

  • amazing

  • thx barry to upload great songs

  • ah.... im not erik mongrain XD i just saw nobody put these videos up yet so i did.

heh, well ill be posting more covers of his songs soon hopefully if that interests ya, haha

  • do it man would be great :)

  • super super ERIk

  • I just have to say that one of my little pleasures is waiting until you have new vids. You're amazing...
