  • Wow,you have Let The Right One In,that's so cool ^^ You read a lot of great books,I recommend you to read the novel Angelology by Danielle Trussoni,it's a very well written book ^^

  • I wish I had the money to buy all that. :(

    Thank god for libraries. <3

  • I would have loved to heard what you had to say about the books though I understand that would have been long

  • I love Matilda and and the Witches. I used to listen to Matilda on book on tape all the time cause I love the voices in it. I like all of Roald Dahl books but those two especially.

  • Wow; you have like 2 dozen books that i want to get. :)

  • I'm not sure if you'll like the books or the author, but you should check out Flowers in the Attic. Also, I think you should check out Generation Dead by Daniel Waters. I'm not sure if you'll like them, but I figured I'd give you suggestions.

  • Yeah I agree with you. Blood and Chocolate is one of the best supernatural romance books out there. It actually has some effort put into it, it's not some boring trilogy, the main character isn't overly emo and enjoys becoming a werewolf, and there's actually a lesson to be learned in the end.

  • Jeez, I am so jealous of your book collection o_o You lucky duck lol

I miss my Ramses the Damned book... D:

  • OMG!!!!! Kick Ass is a new edition to my book collection. Also Dr. Horrible but ZOMG your collection of books is fantastic. You had a lot of good reads. Love your nice collection of zombie books. Very nice. Although I would have liked to se your manga collection. Keep on READING! ;)

  • w00t just got back from a used bookstore. Galatic North, Revelation Space and Chasm City, by Alastair Reynolds, and Childhood's End, The City and the Stars, 2001 a Space Odyssey and the Fountains of Paradise by Arthur Clarke. quite a good haul for $30. w00t and next weekend my library is having a used book sale. added to the SF and nonfiction books i inherited from my grampa i have a good lila collection going :)

  • also since i shamed you by pointing out your lack of classic and modern great SF i will do myself, i never read The Giver, or Harry Potter(to be fair i hate how Rowling is with numbers, and found Potter a very generic character). I also figured out i have the Grapes of Wrath(seems stolen from mo HS library) and haven't read it. i also am not a Lovecraft fan. now i am shamed too :(

  • @Drmofothegreat I have Harry Potter, I didn't show it...I have the Giver as well. <3

  • @MelinaPendulum

yes i was just pointing out i have never read those(popular and well regarded books), cause i also pointed out your seeming lack of Arthur C. Clarke(well known and regarded), Alastair Reynolds and China Meiville(somewhat well known but well regarded). really you need some good SF start with what i recommended.

  • @Drmofothegreat I am just not a big SF reader. Just watcher.

  • @MelinaPendulum

how do you feel about steampunk? Terminal World is very much inspired by steampunk(hoorah for airships!). and how about cyberpunk(hoorah for cybernetic implants and surgery making you a demigod!)?

i am not really into fantasy myself, but strangely i love dungeon crawler games which all i have played have been fantasy. i wanna make a SF dungeon crawler, with instead of a tower or dungeon an ancient space habitat, also the everpresent horror of nothing lurking so near.

  • though i am unable to present my fear of life terminating nothing in a way that is as true as it is. hell the scariest story i read was "The Nothing Equation" and that wasn't meant to be horror, i think anyway. Steven King stories can't even come close. for weeks afterwards i was afraid our magnetosphere would give way and solar winds would destroy our atmosphere. the night sky has never been so terrifying.

  • @Drmofothegreat what do you mean how Rowling is with numbers??

  • @TheBlondiesNr1

the discrepancies of how many people are in hogwarts in each grade, the games they had, which have huge amounts of wizards, and a otherthings about stuff like that mostly. especially with the wizard games they held, and number of students compared to total wizard kids.

  • @Drmofothegreat i never noticed of that, not even once. And i've never heard anyone else mention it .

  • @TheBlondiesNr1

most(all?) who noticed it and other discrepancies in the number of students in the books are nerds probably with ocd of somesort, who are also fans of hard sf fans(nerds). so consider yourself lucky ;)

not bashing her, they are good stories, just that has always bothered me.

it's why i prefer the movies over the books, though they do tend to leave a lot out of them. i love the set pieces though.

  • @Drmofothegreat You haven't read The Giver?! Go NOW to your library and get it!

  • but yes what is with changing of book covers? i use the library mostly so i have a surprisingly small bookshelf, just Reynolds and other books not found at the library(i need to find a used book store to get Clarke), they did order Let the Right One in for me. paperback you had i prefer the older hardcover look before the movie was released. i never read the books you were talking about so don't know how the cover changes look.

  • C'mon no Arthur C. Clarke(best author and best Arthur)? Rendezvous with Rama(ignore the rest of Rama series) has one of my fav covers. Alastair Reynolds is also great Diamond Dogs/Turquoise Days, Chasm City, and Terminal World should be there atleast, and his upcoming series Poseidon's Children if you wanna hop on that series at the beginning. and A.E. Van Vogt's(lighter than previous two) Voyage of the Space Beagle(first part inspired Alien), Empire of Isher, Anarchistic Colossus, and Null-A.

  • No china Meiville either 'The City and the City' is a good new one. no Petshop of Horrors mangas? have you heard of Despara? a manga of that followed by an anime made by the same people that made Lain(watch it it's great cyberpunk) is in the works ABe is my fav manga artist.

for a taste of Reynolds go to infinityplus website, Spirey and the Queen made me first like stories in first person. A Spy In Europa is a good short to be found there. Propagation of Light in a Vacuum(not reynolds) is cute

  • just have a quick question have you ever read a book by Diane Hoh she writes pretty good, and the best book i have ever read by her was "Dont Let Me Die" and it has both an awesome plot and a great message to it.

  • Whats the longest book youve ever read?

  • Holly Black! YAY!

I recommend Laurie Halse Anderson's books(especially Speak), Wake by Lisa McMann, and the Hell series by Rosemary Clement-Moore. Also Shannon Hale's (esp. The Goose Girl), whose new covers are worse than the Artemis Fowl ones.

  • You have a lot of books. But my Dad has like 10 times as many. Have you read all of those?

  • Hey Melina. I saw this vid and was pretty inspired like you were to show off my book shelf. But everytime I do it it goes way over the time limit. How do you edit your videos? Is it easy? =/

  • @PuffyAmiYumi Oh heck no. This video was 30 min long unedited >.<

Basically I only showed you the titles and cut out all the discussion. If you want you can have the book and then say what you would rate it to give people an idea of how you felt for it. :3

  • Like some other commenters have said, if you haven't read Markus Zusak's books, i highly recommend them. The Book Thief was AMAZING and so was I Am the Messenger.

What do you think about Going Bovine? I'm about half way through and I think it's pretty interesting.

  • SANDMAN!!!!!! :D

  • Wow...you need to do your manga books! I'd love to see what you got! I have quite a few 'Naruto' is demoniting my shelf mostly but I have a few others. I dont nearly have as many as you do though. Oh and have you ever read the book "SunShine" it's really good by Robin McKinley. Read my Junior year of school. Love it, I just randomly wondered if you have. If not you should, I'd bet you'd like it. ^_~ Awesome collection!

  • a part of me was hoping you'd whip out Captain Underpants :(

  • @Cuddlebunzzz lol I have Captain underpants

  • I wish there were people like you in my high school! We'd get along so well!

  • Have you ever read "The Book Thief" by Markus Zuzak? If so, what do you think about it? Of not, I can highly recommend it!

  • Is that Chiibi Vampire (Karin) I see? Or just something with a similar back cover?

  • I wish my bookshelf was as awesome as yours. I'm so mad because I was in the middle of the Historian but I had to return it because someone else was waiting for it x(

  • @KikyoChanXD lol. Ik I edited it out because pretty much everyone has at least one potter book.

Its years of money, sweat and tears. :3

  • World War Z is one of the best books I've ever read in life.. Youshould check out Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter its also by Seth Grahame-Smith.. And Skulduggery Pleasant has similar humor to Artemis Fowl.. And I'm gonna stop b4 I make a long list of book recommendations.. Lol

  • You have Matilda! One of my all-time favorite books!

  • Blood and Chocolate sounds like an interesting book.

  • Wow, what a great collection you've got! You have so many great classics and I was real happy to see many of my favourites on your bookshelf too :) A Little Princess is also one of my all-time favourites ;)

I must say my #1 favourite story of all time is the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (which the Return of the King is the third part of). I was really excited to see you have it! If you haven't already read the first two parts, I highly recommend them!

Thanks very much for the tour :-)

  • No Watchmen? D=

  • This reminds me of my own bookshelf. The disorganization, the piles of books, and the random genres scattered all about. :) Barnes & Nobles classics are made of <3.

  • I kept laughing at the parts that you would start to go into a conversation and then it would cut off. lol

  • Blood and Chocolate <3!!

  • Great collection!

    Bat earrings? Very cute ^^

  • I love seeing piles of books on bookshelves. <3

  • Wow...Your shelf reminds me of my best friend's. I can't afford that many books. I usually buy secondhand or the cheap Penguin Classics books. I currently have about 1/8 of your collection. XD

  • This video makes me want to go to the book store. :D

  • This makes me want to do this. :/

  • Well, I've only read around 6 of the books you've shown in this video, so if I ever need a good read, I know which video to watch =]

  • I liked the old Artemis Fowl covers, too, even though I didn't like anything published after the third book.

I surprised you don't have the Legend of the Seeker books.

  • Okay now I feel like doing one of these videos lol, I totally agree that the amount of books you have is an indication of how much you've spent! AND I'm not even finished yet!

  • Reading the Atlantic Complex! I was so excited to get it, hope you enjoy it! :)

  • OMG you got a book signed by Tamora Pierce that is awesome! So your favorite books by her are the immoratals, that's cool my favorite is the song of the lioness XD

  • I have that same Betty and Veronica! XD

Not that I ever read them, but I have a couple kicking around.

None the less, great collection. Never would have thought you'd have quite so many vampire books.

  • You got books signed by Tamora Pierce and Holly Black? Lucky! I like Blood and Chocolate, but I think Vivian's attitude and how quickly she fell in love with Aiden puts people off. And I'm a Triss fan too! I had this horrible nightmare that I lost my copy of Let the Right One In. By the way, are you going to check out Rick Riodarn's new series? It's supposed to feature characters from PJ series.

  • That is one hell of a collection you got there, Melina!

I quite liked Blood and Chocolate. Didn't dig the writing style, but I loved how original and realistic it was about the situation.

    LIBBA BRAY FTW!

  • Why did you take down the Good Sue vs Bad Sue vid? I favorited that video. That was epic.

  • @GimmeBooks I'm going to reupload it after I make a few changes on my other account. I'll send it to you when I do.

  • @MelinaPendulum Ok thank you :)

  • Now I got to do this! XD

  • @MelinaPendulum you should read Mistborn by brandon sanderson. also nightside by Simon R. Green

  • "the empress" has a very similar cover to "Across the nightingale floor"

  • You've read Lolita? I could never get through it.

  • Nice

You look good in purple by the way.

  • Huh. I got the same version of Carrie you do!

  • definitely gonna write some of these down on my list of things to buy!

  • edited twilight out? (A)

  • Awesome book shelf collection. I have to read The Zombie Survival Guide and I Am Legend- and speaking of brain~scaring, I tried reading Wicked (the wizard of oz one) when I was ten or eleven. I made it halfway through, too- but yeah. Anyway, I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat when you pulled out the Artemis Fowl Series. Besides that, it was awesome to see Roald Dahl get some love- his books are my childhood favorites.

  • Bravo, bravo!Amazing taste in books.:).I'm also writing down some titles I would like to check out.:).Am I going to be noisy if I ask can we see your DVD collection as well some day?:P.Thank you in advance.

  • I noticed you only had one Kelly Armstrong book.. have you read the rest of the Women of the Otherworld series? I've read up to Broken, and I like them all. Well, Dimestore Magic was ok.

  • ok i like your collection..but no HP?

  • @kelseyhm I have HP, its on the topshelf, but it got edited out

  • @MelinaPendulum o...:P ok

  • Holy crap..

  • What an awesome collection! I'm already writing down a few titles I want to read =D Makes me mat to make a video of all the books in my bookcase, maybe I will, I'll just clean up my room first~ so no one notices what a mess I always make XDD

  • You should check out the Ghost Girl series by Tonya Hurley, I really enjoyed reading that series!

  • You have a nice collection but no HP.... I guess it isn't your cup of tea

  • @mavsguru41 I have HP its at the top I didn't show it because it was too heavy.

  • Wow. O.O I have a lot of the books you do, although I'm surprised you don't have The Book Thief.
