Then why doesn't Malone get 100 points per season, he stands in front of the net. It's harder than you think to stand in front of the net, you got to get position on the defensemen who is pushing you around constantly, and I guess you never look at Crosby highlights. Lets see you get at least 70-80 assists per season, how many players in the league do that and get 100 points? Oh, only one more, Evgeni Malkin. And don't say he gets all his assists from Geno, they are on SEPERATE lines.
And if Crosby only stands in front of the net to get points, then there would be more than 3 people (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin) hitting the 100 point mark. Crosby was a big factor they won the cup, he was a big factor in the Washington series, him and Ovechkin challenged each other, and they both performed to their expectations, they both had 13 points in the series if I remember correctly, and 31 points is amazing in the playoffs, first time someone had over 30 points in over 10 years. The Pens PP sucked during the regular season. they were 20th in the league, so there is no way he got 100 points on the PP.

I like both Sidney and Alex. They both are EXTREMLY different players. They are amazingly skilled players, however I think Sid has the better team. In my opinion Malkin, Crosby and Ovechkin are the three greatest players in the NHL right now. And 2 out of the three are on the Penguins. But Ovechkin pulls the numbers without a Malkin on his line. But as I said before they are both amazing players and are so different I dont think you could say who is better than the other.

Then why doesn't Malone get 100 points per season, he stands in front of the net. It's harder than you think to stand in front of the net, you got to get position on the defensemen who is pushing you around constantly, and I guess you never look at Crosby highlights. Lets see you get at least 70-80 assists per season, how many players in the league do that and get 100 points? Oh, only one more, Evgeni Malkin. And don't say he gets all his assists from Geno, they are on SEPERATE lines.

And if Crosby only stands in front of the net to get points, then there would be more than 3 people (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin) hitting the 100 point mark. Crosby is one of the best passers in the league. I'm not saying Crosby is the greatest, and I wasn't saying you hate Ovechkin, I was using a reference. People, including you, have to give Crosby, and Ovechkin, and Malkin (which ever one you hate the most) credit for 100 points, its not that easy to do anymore, and they do it like it's nothing

And you can't compare them, Ovechkin is a sniper, Crosby is a playmaker, and Malkin is kinda like both. Crosby was a big factor they won the cup, he was a big factor in the Washington series, him and Ovechkin challenged each other, and they both performed to their expectations, they both had 13 points in the series if I remember correctly, and 31 points is amazing in the playoffs, first time someone had over 30 points in over 10 years. That says something.
The Pens PP sucked during the regular season. they were 20th in the league, so there is no way he got 100 points on the PP.

So arguably Crosby had 40 points with Malkin, but they were changing up the PP lines so much last year it's hard to say.

Well first of all the first russian to be taken in the first round was Alex Kovalev which was about 20 years ago now and who is still in the NHL.
Considering that was about 20 years ago It's difficult to talk about longevity since that's the length of a single players career.
Pavel Bure had serious injury problems but Ovechkin is built like a horse and I doubt he'll have massive injury problems.

Ovechkin is a great individual player, but Crosby is a great leader. If Ovechkin ever learns to pass like Sid and defend the puck like Sid, he will be the greatest in the world. But, as for now, my money is on Sid. He may not be quite as flashy as Ovechkin and he may not score as many points, but he does two things very well; lead and win.
