I remember our Irish Step Dancing teacher trying to introduce us to Moxy Fruvous and we all (11 years old) thought he was an asshole. Oh how I would love to thank him. THANKS MATT!! YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE!!
I'd really love to find the live version of this that came out on the pre-Bargainville cassette tape, before they were popular enough to make a CD. It was the first version that I heard and the first time I heard this version (Bargainville) it seemed inferior. It's been 15 years since I heard that version so this one has, of course, grown on me as the best version available to me. I'm not really a fan of the Live Noise version. An amazing song and dripping with the author's emotion LOVE IT!
This and "The Gulf War Song" are the best Moxy Fruvous songs, so much meaning out of a song. Anyone I know that die's by alcohol, I'll make sure that this song is sung.
Every time I lose a friend to alcoholism (and there have been a few) I think of this song. Nearly hometown bards, Here's a glass to Moxy Fruvous. RIP, old friends.
we sang this song at a friend of mines memorial at his request. he had had it all planned out that when he died he wanted this song sung. he died after having fun at a club, he'd been drinking that night. though i don't think he was drunk when he drove home. i miss him so much, it has been 4 years since his passing.
keysers0z3, this song is about the guy and his friend drinking. He couldn't deny his friend a drink, so they both drank and had fun times. They got so drunk they were "standing up, falling down", and waged a campaign against themselves armed with alcohol. Ultimately, his friend passed out from alcohol poisoning and the singer couldn't help him because he was so drunk himself. The ambulance came but it was too late, his friend was already dead. The singer never drank again.
October 6th, 1999. I took a nice girl to their concert for her 19th birthday at our campus bar. She listened to them a lot in high school. I bought one of the band a double scotch and they sang her happy birthday.
Some of the best times of my life. This is a beautiful song and it means a lot to me.
This song makes me think of freshmen year of college. Such great lyrics and melody. Thank God I've never lost anyone to alcohol, but still makes me think of people I've lost to various other aspects of life.
me and my buddy used to listen to this song. and sadly, ironically and unbelievably he hit a tree head on coming home from a party. he was 17. RIP tyler

This is... such a beautiful song... So chilling and sweet, so grim and yet so happy in it's sorrow.
I almost cry every single time it graces my ears.
Come back to us, Moxy.
