Today i helped a friend get the thing working on mac. We got the launcher working using Wineskin for mac (intel only) but i still do not know if t will run with the graphic requirements. Bottom line: Consoles would ruin it, and mac might not handle it. On a mac? Get a PC if you want to play this.

Yeah, I know someone who was in the beta.. he's a long time mmo player and Kotor fan since the original was released way back in the day. He told me it's the perfect blend of mmo and kotor rpg. The bg pvp is fast paced and epic
O_O man this is going to be good. i never played wow but i know about 3 guys that did. they said the game became ruined for some reasons by the company and i forget them but they all said they are so glad swtor is coming out. the only reason why people are so defencive about most mmorpgs is because they don't want to have the feeling that they are spending time building a character in an mmo that isnt worth doing. im just glad they were able to quit at like level 80 something lol

@Eslates I know that BW probably the best RPG studio out there, but so many games got called the "WoW-Killer" and they turned out to be shit. The only real WoW-Killer, is WoW itself...
@KITTYCLUSTERFUCK When Wow was first released in 2004 it was filled with bugs, and barely any testing prior to the release. BW is making sure they release a fine polished game when they are ready. (it is rumoured to be out october 4th a leaker has said)
@Eslates It took 12 years to develope Duken Nukem Forever.... and the game can't even touch the previous ones. I'll stay skeptical till the game releases. As mentioned before, Aion was called the new WoW aswell, but it turned out to be rubbish. There always be bugs.

If want a fair comparison, look at this. WoW was a great game & Blizzard known as a great developer for games (Vanilla, WC3, Diablo, Starcraft) and look at today!

@GunerzPGBC Consoles can't handle thousands of players on one server, the consoles would make the graphics and fps worse since they will have to specialize for them aswell. Many more bugs since consoles don't have OS. It's mostly stuff like that, consoles and PC/Mac are really different.

@GunerzPGBC Speaking non-biased since I play my ps3 more then on a pc. Yes, the pc version for any MMO would be better than console. Why? cause every year pc's are getting upgraded for better games, while the xbox stays the same, which is why graphics and gameplay are always cut down when they get transfered to a console version. 2nd

But you don't believe me that a console couldn't had handled thousands of thousands on a real time server? The most real time I have seen with players on a console is Mag for PS3 which can have about 60 players. With only 60 players on each server you could might aswell go singleplayer. @ZeeJayStudios Well you could had easily had Kotor 3 on 360, but I really doubt that Tor360 would be a success because you are really gonna be lacking buttons to press. I would easily own you on a PC in a warzone or arena against you if you were going to use a 360 controller (same with theother consoles). That you hate playing on consoles is your own opinion, I like to play on everything mostly, but with MMO's it's PC. Just like with kinect/move games it would only be on consoles for me.

Its a necessity, just like how people complain about youtube having ads, they have to have a way to make money so they can make the overall experience better. People who apparently say they hate MMO's are confused. KotOR 1 and 2 were EXTREMELY similar to an MMO. The only difference was that it wasn't online. You still kill monsters, you still collect loot, and you level up your character through the story with experience. That is exactly like the old republic except the worlds are GIANT and there are 17 so far! and they will keep adding content. That's better then kotor3. pay monthly and stop whining. They are going to keep adding content for years.

@erbgorre Of course the cinematic looks better than the game, I mean come on let's use our heads. Also, since when has MMO games had to look good? Need I remind you that World of Warcraft is probably the most cartoonish looking game out there, still uses it's 7 YEAR OLD engine and millions of people play it?
Also, how can you say the game has 0 atmosphere if you haven't even played it yet. Who knows whatkind of connection you can build with the game once you play it by yourself.
@Deathshuck its not so much about the graphics itself. but it just feels silly to have thousands of main characters running around a city composed of 30 npcs all the time. thats what kills the atmosphere.
and the fights feel totally wrong as well cause with so many people potentially chipping away at the same target it forces ev erything to have rediculously high health for balance sake and then you find yourself or entire parties hitting the same thing for minutes oO just doesnt work as an rpg
@erbgorre I don't know how much you've played MMO games, but personally I think games like WoW have had much more atmosphere than many singleplayer rpg's. I mean, for example, just chilling in one of the game's capitals and chatting away with your friends while people run around on their errands and shopping in the city makes the game and the world feel truly alive, and it is. The world is not completely filled with npc's like in singleplayer rpg's, but real people, doing real things.
@erbgorre Also, the other arguments you made against MMO's aren't entirely rational. Like the fact how people beat up on a single enemy. There are reasons why things are done the way they are. MMORPG's don't try to be like traditional RPG's, it's an entirely different genre, and if they tried to make it like a singleplayer RPG, it wouldn't work out. These games are designed entirely for massive amounts of players in mind.

@fortheownage Ah I don't know, it was fun and exciting on the first playthrough, but the second playhrough felt like I was forcing myself to play it and see what happens if I'd do things differently.. :/
@fortheownage I really don't know how anyone could say that. If that game required any less input from the player it would of completely played it self. Honestly that game was like being stuck in a rail wagon as a passenger while you got shuttled around countryside taking in the sights.
@erbgorre The thing is, MMO's are supposed to be able to run on all computers. If you want to give it Mass Effect 2 Graphics, they can, but it sacrifices the huge amounts of gamers that don't have good computers and don't have the money to buy one that runs the game. For example, if World of Warcraft's graphics are much better (Looking more like Guild Wars Graphics) they would lose probably around 1-4 Million Users. Only because those users don't the Hardware on their computer to run a game with

@doraff02 i already clarified that when i say ingame looks bad im not talking about the graphics per se. im not complaining about faces not being detailed enough or stuff like that. the graphics dont have to be top of the line for an rpg to have great atmosphere. that was actually a big let down for me when playing GW cause it felt to me like they focused only on the graphics and forgot to tell a story. doesnt work.
im saying the game mechanics make movement look wrong, fights look stupid..
@erbgorre ME2 is really story-based, if it had multiplayer, the graphics would be turned way down. Only because it would have to constantly have to transmit high graphic movement to a bunch of different computers. It would probably be really laggy, and thus not enjoyable.
What WOW stats really say it that the game sucks, and 11 million people are addicted to it.
@doraff02 ME2 is story based but its not a true rpg because theres virtually no character customization, item-hunting, skill-development etc.. it lives off its great cinematic display alone and thus depends massively on its graphics of course so losing it would instantly kill the game.
but great rpgs like baldurs gate, kotor, diablo, dragon age and so on never needed top of the line graphics to work.
@erbgorre Umm...have you ever played Mass Effect 2? The Armor is Customizable, and your face is more customizable then most games allow you to customize your whole character. There is actually, tons of Skill Development, and in most parts of the game, it can save your life. Yes, there is Item-Hunting. Multiple crew members ask for certain items, and you have to go to different places to acquire them. Also, you have to do certain missions to get certain weapons, thus more item hunting.
@doraff02 haha yes i have played mass effect 2 for quite some time. and all the tings you just listed are there in ME2 yes but only so rudimentary like i have never seen in any other rpg. character customization is not just about adjusting the cheekbone or the depth of the forehead. for starters how many rpgs are there where you dont get to play different races? and you get a set of 8 skills to choose from for your main character - 4 for any companion. you cant even call that a skill-tree lol
@doraff02 and yeah theres a total of like 10 additional guns you can pick up during missions. and some armor pieces and change their color wow. and you can barely miss any of these anyhow. you honestly call that item-hunting? oO
when rpg games usually have thousands and more pieces of equipment to look for and you will probably never find them all. ME2 cuts down massively on some of the most important gameplay elements of classic rpg which is why i dont really consider it to be one
@doraff02 now i dont mean to criticize ME2. i think its a fantastic game with great atmosphere. it does things different but it works.
BUT for that reason it relies heavily on its cinematic display more so than classic rpgs.
i actually started playing it on lower res to be sure not to have any lag but that just killed it for me. i almost instantly put everything to maximum and rather missed a sniper shot or two now and then lol. i never felt like doing that in other rpgs ive played.
@erbgorre KOTOR is an amazing game, I own it and I've played through it multiple times. But, when the game came out, the graphics that it had were top of the line. Considering it came out in 2003. Diablo, is an RPG, but it's more of a fusion of Dragon Age and Starcraft...but it's awesome. Dragon Age is a different RPG in itself. If you ever played Mass Effect 2, you would instantly get sucked into the story. No matter what the graphics looked like. Not to mention, a majority of Bioware's games
this is something that really annoys me when people who like star wars criticize anything star wars that george lucas is making now ok i liked star wars episodes 1,2, and 3 sure maybe not as much as the original trilogy but they were still pretty great and this game looks like it's going 2 be awesome 2 even tho star wars is star wars so just deal with it and i even think jar-jar is a great character

Its a necessity, just like how people complain about youtube having ads, they have to have a way to make money so they can make the overall experience better. People who apparently say they hate MMO's are confused. KotOR 1 and 2 were EXTREMELY similar to an MMO. The only difference was that it wasn't online. You still kill monsters, you still collect loot, and you level up your character through the story with experience. That is exactly like the old republic except the worlds are GIANT and there are 17 so far! and they will keep adding content. That's better then kotor3. pay monthly and stop whining. They are going to keep adding content for years.

I locked forward to this game, but whe i started watching the timeline series and i soon relised that something was wrong. the madalorians were once again in dissaray. and Revan had been made into a PUPPET! so i'm just gona sit back and ignore the existanse of this blasphemy of a game. waiting for KotOR 3

Need I remind you that World of Warcraft is probably the most cartoonish looking game out there, still uses it's 7 YEAR OLD engine and millions of people play it?
Also, how can you say the game has 0 atmosphere if you haven't even played it yet. Who knows whatkind of connection you can build with the game once you play it by yourself.

@Deathshuck its not so much about the graphics itself. but it just feels silly to have thousands of main characters running around a city composed of 30 npcs all the time. thats what kills the atmosphere.
and the fights feel totally wrong as well cause with so many people potentially chipping away at the same target it forces ev erything to have rediculously high health for balance sake and then you find yourself or entire parties hitting the same thing for minutes oO just doesnt work as an rpg

@erbgorre I don't know how much you've played MMO games, but personally I think games like WoW have had much more atmosphere than many singleplayer rpg's. I mean, for example, just chilling in one of the game's capitals and chatting away with your friends while people run around on their errands and shopping in the city makes the game and the world feel truly alive, and it is. The world is not completely filled with npc's like in singleplayer rpg's, but real people, doing real things.

@erbgorre Also, the other arguments you made against MMO's aren't entirely rational. Like the fact how people beat up on a single enemy. There are reasons why things are done the way they are. MMORPG's don't try to be like traditional RPG's, it's an entirely different genre, and if they tried to make it like a singleplayer RPG, it wouldn't work out. These games are designed entirely for massive amounts of players in mind.

@erbgorre The thing is, MMO's are supposed to be able to run on all computers. If you want to give it Mass Effect 2 Graphics, they can, but it sacrifices the huge amounts of gamers that don't have good computers and don't have the money to buy one that runs the game. For example, if World of Warcraft's graphics are much better (Looking more like Guild Wars Graphics) they would lose probably around 1-4 Million Users. Only because those users don't the Hardware on their computer to run a game with

@doraff02 i already clarified that when i say ingame looks bad im not talking about the graphics per se. im not complaining about faces not being detailed enough or stuff like that. the graphics dont have to be top of the line for an rpg to have great atmosphere. that was actually a big let down for me when playing GW cause it felt to me like they focused only on the graphics and forgot to tell a story. doesnt work.
im saying the game mechanics make movement look wrong, fights look stupid..

@erbgorre ME2 is really story-based, if it had multiplayer, the graphics would be turned way down. Only because it would have to constantly have to transmit high graphic movement to a bunch of different computers. It would probably be really laggy, and thus not enjoyable.
What WOW stats really say it that the game sucks, and 11 million people are addicted to it.

@doraff02 ME2 is story based but its not a true rpg because theres virtually no character customization, item-hunting, skill-development etc.. it lives off its great cinematic display alone and thus depends massively on its graphics of course so losing it would instantly kill the game.
but great rpgs like baldurs gate, kotor, diablo, dragon age and so on never needed top of the line graphics to work.

@erbgorre Umm...have you ever played Mass Effect 2? The Armor is Customizable, and your face is more customizable then most games allow you to customize your whole character. There is actually, tons of Skill Development, and in most parts of the game, it can save your life. Yes, there is Item-Hunting. Multiple crew members ask for certain items, and you have to go to different places to acquire them. Also, you have to do certain missions to get certain weapons, thus more item hunting.

@doraff02 haha yes i have played mass effect 2 for quite some time. and all the tings you just listed are there in ME2 yes but only so rudimentary like i have never seen in any other rpg. character customization is not just about adjusting the cheekbone or the depth of the forehead. for starters how many rpgs are there where you dont get to play different races? and you get a set of 8 skills to choose from for your main character - 4 for any companion. you cant even call that a skill-tree lol

@doraff02 and yeah theres a total of like 10 additional guns you can pick up during missions. and some armor pieces and change their color wow. and you can barely miss any of these anyhow. you honestly call that item-hunting? oO
when rpg games usually have thousands and more pieces of equipment to look for and you will probably never find them all. ME2 cuts down massively on some of the most important gameplay elements of classic rpg which is why i dont really consider it to be one

@doraff02 now i dont mean to criticize ME2. i think its a fantastic game with great atmosphere. it does things different but it works.
BUT for that reason it relies heavily on its cinematic display more so than classic rpgs.
i actually started playing it on lower res to be sure not to have any lag but that just killed it for me. i almost instantly put everything to maximum and rather missed a sniper shot or two now and then lol. i never felt like doing that in other rpgs ive played.

@erbgorre KOTOR is an amazing game, I own it and I've played through it multiple times. But, when the game came out, the graphics that it had were top of the line. Considering it came out in 2003. Diablo, is an RPG, but it's more of a fusion of Dragon Age and Starcraft...but it's awesome. Dragon Age is a different RPG in itself. If you ever played Mass Effect 2, you would instantly get sucked into the story. No matter what the graphics looked like. Not to mention, a majority of Bioware's games

this is something that really annoys me when people who like star wars criticize anything star wars that george lucas is making now ok i liked star wars episodes 1,2, and 3 sure maybe not as much as the original trilogy but they were still pretty great and this game looks like it's going 2 be awesome 2 even tho star wars is star wars so just deal with it and i even think jar-jar is a great character
