Kids & Contact Lenses: How Young Is Too Young?

I got contacts today and i`m 13 and their comfortable. But when i put them on they irritate a lot but then they go to back to normal and stop hurting in jst a couple mins nd when i take them off they kinda hurt but they go bak to normal in like a minute

Contact use , especially colored contacts ment for fashion only and not everyday use can cause pupil damage, or even retna detachment ! That's bad news, my dad had eye problems for a long time and his retna fell off in his eye, he had to get a crazy surgery where they sew your retna back to your eyeball :0

It depends where you get the lense from. Some are more comfortable than others. I got 2 pairs from different places one was purple and the other green, and the gren ones were perfect. The purple ones hurt my eye though.

Man I've had contacts for a while now (got them at 15), and they are bitches to get in. I've cut my eye like 3 times now.... Itches like crap. Word of advice, take your time, be careful and don't cut your eye.. Hurts like hell.

I got them wen I was 14, the doctor said tats the youngest age to wear contacts.

It affects the development of eyes.

Children have to wait til eyes r fully developed.

You can get use to putting them on (: Im 11 and I got clear contacts (because I dont want my eyes to cause attention). In the contact lens room with such bright light and a mirror just like that, it took a long time for me to remove them and put it in. I got it last wednesday and I was able to put them on easier on saturday! And my mom helped me more on removing them. I just love contacts! It gave me a couple headaches but I'll get use to the contacts

I was At the eye doctors and I had a heck of a time getting them out! Then I couldn't get them back in so we came to get my mom cuz she wears contacts and she got a call from the lady who was helping me and says hey you don't have to come dr keener will order smaller ones for Luke. It is crazy how younger and younger kids are doing these days, yes I can see like infants may wear contacts but they no choose to wear glasses or whatever, now kids like this wear them just because different color eye? Be thankful for the color eye, skin, and hair color you have... now I see teenagers at 13-14 having babies, 15-16 year olds getting married, 9-12 year olds (and younger) smoking and doing drugs... it is a shame..This world is messed up.

I'm 14 and I know I'm ready for contact lenses. I brought a pair of non-prescribed contacts so I can see if I'm ready for them (to see how hard/easy it would be to get them in). The only thing stopping me from getting contacts right now is me not being able to put them in. I heard there are tools that help you get them in, though. I'll have to look that up. :)

I'm much older and it took me about a week to master using contacts, I don't wear them every day tho. I think it's great for kids to wear contacts mainly because it gives them more of an opportunity to get involved in sports. I have seen that babies with eye cataracts having to use contacts as well so there are many more benefits with contacts than glasses.

I just got my contacts on Monday and there so kool I got clear contacts so they help me see better they feel so kool and like when I first put it on it felt like something was in my eye like dust or like when something gets in yur eye and when I put it on yesterday and today my eyes started like to make tears fall out will any watz I love so much my contacts no more glasses for mee I swear who ever came up with the invention of contacts is really smart and a life saver lol

Got mine today ;) I'm 16, its a bit awkward at first because your not really used to touching your eye, which means your eye lids start to flutter. but after a while you will adjust to it and you will have no problem popping them in and out in seconds.

Yeah i agree with ya, theapaiapuding. But some kids are just more talented then others. She looks about 7 or 8 huh? Well i got mine at about 10 but i didnt get colored cause they are harded to put in. So people who are saying kids arent ready just give kids some slack some have no fear of touching their eyes (unlike me) but some can just deal with it to get the best vision possible (like me).
