  • It's a loan! as in 'they will have to pay the money back'. And then you're gonna say: "yeah, but not if they go bankrupt", but then I'll reply that; it's the same deal with all the other loans the government gives. For example indirectly to US citizens... If they don't pay back, the tax dollars are also gone...

  • It's an investment, just like when the government gives loans to banks and other car companies.

  • I understand what a loan is. I work in the financial industry. I know how this stuff works and if the Cash for Clunkers fiasco is any indication as to how efficient they are (2 rounds of funding, fund went broke, dealers not paid, an additional #24K spent of tax payer money PER CAR etc), then I do not have any confidence in anything Gov backed.

  • This car looks badass, and I am all for new technology, and I would buy stock in a company like this. Glad I don't own any GM stock right now with tier Gov backed loans! Ford is the only co that didn't take any fed money and they posted a profit this last quarter.

  • I think the car is great and all don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and seems luxurious and everything but it does not sound like a driver's car. I'll wait for the reviews later this year of course but..0-60 in 5.8 ?? Top speed 125 ?? If you only care about getting from point A to point B, then it's perfect, but for a true driving enthusiast like myself, I'm sorry but it just doesn't grab me. Then again mayb I'm being too harsh, it is a sedan after all..

  • True drivers cars are too harsh for daily driving. That's why you get a Karma for a DD and a Lotus or Atom for the sunshine.

    I hope you're not trying to say the RR in the video in your profile is a driver's car...

  • Actually that's not exactly what I meant.Of course I wouldn't suggest that this car be compared to the atom. That would be ridiculous. But this car accelerates from 0-60 in 7 seconds in normal mode and 5.8 in sport mode. That's just not very impressive..and for an enthusiast like myself wouldn't be very exciting especially for an almost $100,000 car. That's what I meant. But hey like I said it is just a sedan..regardless other sedans with low emissions in that price range top those numbers

  • GM is not going anywhere, GM is a sold quality company post-bankrupcy. Fisker will soon go all-electric with in a decade as the technology develops.

  • Well... all very interesting, however... What I wanted to hear about, and I'm sure most of the gear heads are with me, is the power train!!! How does it work? What's the HP / TQ? Weight? 0-60? 1/4 mile? Range? Maybe I missed this on another episode? I did find the conversation interesting but 'the suit" needs to remember who his audience is and ask the gear head questions as well! Instead, he comes off as an autocross minded business man that balks at the thought of a wrench and a little grease

  • Matt, I wouldn't act as a skeptic of Fisker after Henrik Fisker himself granted an interview. Now yes it was a PR thing he was at and you can do whatever you want, but I wouldn't do anything that might even hint at straining a potential relationship with a man like that.

  • My job isn't to kiss automotive exec's asses. Sure, Henrik Fisker has had some runaway successes, including the Aston Martin DB9, but he's also had some colossal failures (Fisker Tramonto & Latigo). I'm not saying the car isn't beautiful; it is. I'm saying that Fisker is a new, unproven company, and 15,000 cars a year is an enormous amount for a new company, especially with a $87,000 price tag. I highly doubt they will make that figure. But God bless them, I hope they do.

  • First of all, our relationships with car manufacturers right now is fine, and we have no risk of burning any bridges. Secondly, and I'm repeating myself here, our job is not to kiss ass just so we get cars first. Many of you guys watch our show to hear my opinions on cars, and so that's what I give you. The Karma is a beautiful car, and I'm sure it drives great. Throwing in some thoughts from the other side of the equation isn't the worst thing in the world, and it won't make Henrik not like me.

  • It's a beautiful car but it's not intended for the masses. It's intended for the people who spend $100K+ for S-Class or 7-Series who want to stand out even more. Someone driving a Honda or Toyota will not buy this car, no matter how expensive gas may become. I'm sure BMW and Mercedes sell more than 15,000 units of each car every year. His sales pitch is a little weak and very typical, hoping for a small percentage of a very large customer segment.

  • That fisker looks like something actually desirable but all this "green" bs is really irritating. ANY form of transport causes pollution one way or another. Electric cars cause pollution when they are produced and gas powered and diesel cars cause pollution coming out of the exhaust. That said... the cars in the world right now dont cause nearly as much pollution as factories and large jets and etc etc. Can they please leave the beloved car alone already? It has given us so much.

  • The head on view reminds me of the BMW Z8. Well done, it is one of the best looking cars in its projected segment in my opinion.

  • Another ostenataious barge with nice lines, priced well above what any sane working man or woman would drive. Eighty percent of Americans don't need a Four or more seat vehicle on a daily basis. They might need one on the weekends for soccer practice. But most people only really need large vehicles for towing ski-doos or going on vacation in, and for that the Fisker comes up short also.
