Hi laila, I have just my discus laying eggs for the 1st time and wanna ask you that if they feed on their parents' body, will it make the parents lose their beauty like biting the skin off and broken fin etc.? thanks.
whould other adults discus eat those babies if you put it in there?cuz they said discus are not agresive.or it diffense what kind of discus?pls reply, thanks.
when you breed discuss do you put a female and a male in a tank by them selves or with others and when the eggs hatch how do you feed them cheers mate
hi,i just bought two (fuji red) in my 30gal tank ten days ago.when i bought them from the store they will come up or come close to greet you.now that they are in my tank, they seems tobe afraid and and hide behind the sponge.even when i feed them they wont eat unless you leave them alone.also sometimes when someone just walk by the tank they would panic and start jumping all over,im afraid they might hurt them selves and die.any idea whats wrong with them?pls help.thanks.
is it hard to look after discus? and what fish would you recommend keeping them with? i really love them but i love them that much i wouldn't want to kill one due to my lack of knowledge
Discus are one of the more difficult fish. They need very soft water which can cause a lot of acidity fluctuations unless you pay careful attention to the environment.
no I think you are right ... the father is a cobalt blue.. all the babies was only eating at his body the first week, until they finally saw the light colour mother :)
Cool video.......note to posters, BEFORE you get a fish, any fish..research. Discus do not do well alone, unless of course they have babies like the video above.............Please people RESEARCH!
I'm sorry, I'm new to this fish and I'm planning to get one, but, one does mS stand for/mean. I know pH is the acidity of the tank but I can't find anything about mS. Please help. BTW, thanks, and really cool discus. I'm planning on getting an albino butterfly one. :)
hey, dont worry about ms, i have discus and i never worry about them, all i do is check ph, and water temp, i also declorinize the water of course, just go do some research and youll be fine

I wouldnt recommend doing it. Discus is sensitive to get transferred to other water.

Discus are one of the more difficult fish. They need very soft water which can cause a lot of acidity fluctuations unless you pay careful attention to the environment.
Grak70 2 years ago
lot of water changes and good food.. Hard / soft water so what.... I keep mine in pH 7.8 . My Discus babies are made in soft water 5.5-6.5
laila1972 2 years ago
That was my point. Maintaining soft water requires more tank maintenance to prevent things from going out of whack.
Grak70 2 years ago
What size is your breeding tank?

Great discus. Understand that Pigeon Blood has little slime-coat for the babies. Not true? May be not true, as all these babies are well-fed.
