Reminds me of a time I lived in Éire in 1987/88 and had an orgy of G.M. two-strokes, with MG-class Bus Éireann coaches all over the roads and E.M.D.- powered locos. all over the rails; utterly glorious and memorable! Only the 071s left now in national service, with the 201-class interest well down the list owing to the "Euro-bore" standards on exhaust noise having been applied. D.Ds. nearly gone in U.K. but a few lifeboats left with twin 6V-92TAs; fantastic din!
Ah!! Brilliant!! How I miss that sound!! One thing to be said for the K-Class, they certainly had a lot of character. I used to love the KDs. Give me the old green 84 anyday!!
this is great I'm off to show my Dad & father in law this now as they both worked building these.Spent a few summers going to the beach on company trips on these buses.
Ben, please read the original text for this video, it says right in it that it is a V730 transmission.
Anyways, BEAUTIFUL Sounding engine and I had no idea anything over seas had 6V71N engines especially with V730's. VERY NICE VIDEO! Thanks for sharing! Very Classic!
This bus sounds exactly like the jimmies that I rode in Timmins when I was a kid.

That was certainly one thing to be said about CIE buses back then. They certainly had character.

Wow, just listen to that roaring off into the distance. What do they use now? Boring Volvos?

Best engine sound ever. Brings back memories of the old KD double-deckers.

What kind of transmission do these buses have (presumably Allison MT-644)?

Looks very similar to the GAC Citybus that Dublin Bus had back in the day.

Would they happen to have any GAC buses with the Cummins L10 and Voith D863.3?? If so, I would like to request a video of that.

The KC citybus with Cummins L10 was mated to Voith D851. I will upload soon.
