THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU at long last I've found you.A buddy of mine had this album way back in the 80's and by that time it was long out of circulation.I had hunted and hunted for it all to no avail. No one had even seemed to hear of these guys and I had given up ever finding it years ago.Since I'd been finding all this old hard find stuff on here I decided for the hell of it to give it a shot not expecting to find anything but low and behold.I fell in love with this tune the moment I heard
Those who purchased a few LP's 35-45 years ago were buying a piece of a Musical Renaissance. As profound as the Great Art of the 16th Century and the Great Classical Music of the 18th Century. Hundreds of years from now this music will be viewed exactly that same way. We complain how the music of the present weakly imitates and has no substance. A fool's folly! The best Artists of the 20th Century Music Renaissance can not duplicated any more easily than Mozart or the Sistine Chapel.
One of the greatest and most underrated metal ballads of all time. When I bring this song up to people, so people know what I mean. Thanx for posting, because they don't know what their ears are missing. Truly breathtaking!
It took me four years to get this on a CD finally about 15 years ago. I like the album quality better, just not the same on CD. I also like the song "Basking In The White Of The Midnight Sun" which slips into "Brother Ego". But "Silver Tightrope" is in the catagory of what I would call "songs that I know that are killer but no one else has even heard before". But all that matters is that I know it exists and I like it...
Oh man...Great album. Technics stacked stereo system, 4 speakers in the bedroom taking bong hits before suiting up and hitting the dirt on my YZ250. My album collection was stolen some years back and I truly miss this one...
I am 45, I found this vinyl in a pile of stuff by the side of the road when i was 18 ...someone got evicted from the apartments....man was i lucky, among my top 5 albums of all time
And I also remember the " good times had by all" at N. East Preserves, every weekend, or on Sundays! Great friends, great beers, and ? ( well yu fill in this) xo

Well I myself will be 52 on june 4. I now have this album on cd. Truely a classic album. To bad they only made 1 album, Keith Relf died b4 they could get another one made. I loved this album back when it came out and I love it now!
Thanks for putting this on here. It has been a long time since I heard it and have been looking for it. Not on iTunes, not on e-music. What an awesome song, thanks again.
Interesting trivia: The last time Relf and Page ever talked to each other was during the recording of this album. Physical Graffiti was being recorded in the room next to them.
Oh yeah...........I still have this LP. The album cover is posted.........I'll never get rid of it. The album might be a tad bit warped but who cares ? It's like having a Schiwnn stingray............5 speed.
Isn't it great getting old.............? We all have memories of those days and can see them clear as mud. Someone transport me back please...............I wanna hang on just one more day..........btw...........4:42 kicks but !
Oh this brings back GREAT memories. Our favorite highway to speed down was 1604 around San Antonio in the 70s. Budweiser and if lucky enough some smoke. I will be 60 in 2012 and this song still gets the goosebumps up. Thanks Joe Anthony for all.
I'll be 26 by then; I suppose I'm lucky my old man had good enough taste to show this album to me. After he died I found he still had the vinyl tucked away with some other old records. Needless to say, I'm not givin' up that vinyl. :D
@ivtommys yeah if it werent for Joe Anthony all us in SA TX would be listening to the bangles or gaga bitch whatever!!@!@!! CHRIS JEWETT SA TX ROCK ON BABYS ROCK ON!!!
@ivtommys right f**king on !!!!I too did the loop cruise many times in my z-28 getting lost in this song...i am a true san antonion wouldnt trade it for the world.... well maybe for Caren Cobb!!! luv U gurl!!!!! Cj
I too remember speeding along at 43 MPH down Route 60 in Glassgow WV behind coal trucks listening to this song on 8-track at full volume in my 63 Ford Falcon in 1977 waiting for a place to pass and get up to 48 MPH !!
All the best music was written and played between 67 and 72( or thereabouts) by people in their early twenties. I think it has something to do with the precociousness of youth.
Listen to this on a good set of headphones- No drugs required. When the drums kick in your cerebral cortex will melt. What a great lost underground classic.
Had a 70 fastback mustang in 75 listening to this song in houston back in the day.something about the cars and the music were all good then.50 is on the way.Great song and album.Thanx for the post!
I turn 50 in a few weeks and I never heard this song until yesterday thanks to Deep Tracks on Sirius Satellite Radio. What an unbelievable song. It's in 44 time but the fourth bar is played on the AND of the note and makes it fell suddenly in odd time. I grew up with Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Genesis, UK and others on FM radio and don't understand how I missed this band. Kieth Relph has such a haunting voice. It is never too late to connect with great music. Paul
@ppechak I also heard this song on Deep Tracks 2 weeks ago, probabably the same time you did, I was sitting in my car waiting to pick my wife up from work, I had completely forgotten about this song, it was great to hear this classic again. Thats what I love about Deep Tracks on XM/Sirus, resurrects these lost classics that would never be played on any commercial "classic" radio station, I'll never listen to regular radio again.
I hear ya. Just wish the music of today was progressing like that of the 60's and 70's. I think we are in music stagnation. or maybe those bands were so far ahead of there time that we have not caught up yet. I don't know, can't quite figure it out.
Bobby Caldwell's brilliance is everywhere evident in this song. Although I love 70's era music, not all of it was nearly this good. At 63, I'm happy to say that this song still sounds good to me. Furthermore, I still have the album on vinyl as well as the original Captain Beyond album. Great stuff, great times, never to be repeated.
What is it about this song and speeding along at 100 mph? I turn 50 in a few days and remember flying down I-94 at 100+ mph in my 74 Road Runner when I was 19 years old listening to this incredible album. Full volume of course.
response to wayclips, paul stanley is a punk, and martin pugh had more talent in his limp penis then that ugly cher look alike had on his best gig,if kiss ever had one, stanley cant sing cant write and should have never picked up a guitar EVER. he should sell surf boards for a living.
Damn man, that's a shame. The only reason I have it is 'cause, bless his heart, my father had a vinyl of it stored away with his other records and I inherited it and the others after he passed.
Indeed, I can remember flying along at 100+ mph in my 67' Chevelle SuperSport in the early A.M. hours after a weekend of partying on Padre Island Texas, listening to this tune. Awesome times. A point in time, never to be repeated. Thanks for putting this tune up.
in my '70 chevelle with my friends smoking joints drinking brew and listening to this...............best times of my life thanks for the post great!!!!
Why did everyone seem to write such way cooler songs in this era (the 70s) than now? I'm 37, so I'm too young to remember when this came out. I wasn't even interested yet, but now I hear how great it is! Current bands suck-and its not just the drugs. People in bands still trip and smoke pot. This is just beautiful no matter how you slice it. Thanks!
This is mostly true, but not ALL current bands suck. There is a band, for example..Porcupine Tree. They are amazing and write totally amazing music. I even convinced my dad, who grew up in CA in the 50's, 60's, and 70's that one of their songs was a song from the late 60's/early 70s
@m9mdc Agreed! I just learned about Porcupine Tree from, get this, my Arthritis doctor. He is a Prog Rock fan of the first order. I may be 50 years old and my back is a mess but my ears are still fine. Porcupine Tree is a fresh, hard to define, kick ass band. Give them a listen and they are on tour right now. I will be seeing them here in Detroit May 2nd.
@spanfreckl why...we had just dicovered drugs, we were in a real shitty war, and most of us were searching for humanity and leadership. Also music was pure guitars and percussion. The folks at Gibson and Fender knew this and left the art to the musician but created such wonderful toys. Welcome to my era!
