North Americans are obsessed with magic pills, potions, lotions, superfoods and diets to prolong their lives. The only effect this has had on them over the past 35 years is to SHORTEN their life.
Food and diet is only a SMALL part of the equation. The most important thing about these older folks in Europe is that they led very HAPPY lives with little to no stress and they WALKED daily instead of jumping in the car to go to the beer store. Moderate exercise and NO stress is the key!
When you hot press a vegetable, it produces heat and becomes rancid. This make the oil produced smell bad, and they have to deodorize the oil to cover it up.
She also smoked all her lfe.The reason she lived so long is that she came from the upper middle class and ate well and had good care.I don't think she had any kids also which makes one's life less fraught with worry.I.e.,good mental health. Those aren't exclusive reasons but I bet they had more to do with it than olive oil.LOL.Good vid.
A lot of olive oil have other oils added to them because pure olive oil is expensive.
The best olive oil money can buy is Bariani olive oil. They have the harvest date on the bottles and the bottling date. Whenever I open the bottle it smells like an olive tree. pure 100% olive oil... The website is barianioliveoil
Your motivated well, but true nutritionist or people who have true nutrition knowledge do not say to "stay away from all fats". Poly Un-Saturated fats are sopposedly the best followed by Mono-Un Saturated. Certain Saturated fats (which are many) but definitly not all are considered bad, with no known examples of the benifits of Tran Saturated Fats. You would have a pretty hard time find a true nutritionist who thinks olives are bad for you. I would say cooked food r much different then raw fo
Poly Unsaturated fats are extremely unstable and over processed, this results in oxidization (that they then often cover up with deodorizers), which is a source of free-radicals. Also, these fats are way out of balance when it comes to omega-3 to omega-6 ratio (way too much omega-6), which promotes depression and other problems. Read "The Mood Cure" by Julia Ross and "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon.
Coconut oil is amazing stuff! Revs the metabolism, supports immune function, and lots of other benefits. Use organic, cold-pressed coconut oil only! Learn more in "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon and also her book with Mary Enig, "Eat Fat, Lose Fat."
Is it the Olive Oil or the fact that she lives in France that is the biggest factor in her longevity?
I agree that Olive oil is good for many people but to assume that it is a major factor in her longevity is a pretty MASSIVE assumption.
Like olive oil, don't like the science that this this video is based on...sorry.

Makes perfect sense .. human beings need fat to survive, our body NEEDS it .. and we are being told no fat all the time ..
Since I've been eating fat again, good fats that it .. I feel and look much better and didn't take on weight at all.

hmmm...I don't know about that

Cooking above "medium" heat makes the oil unstable and creates free-radicals. Good recommendation.
