I think Bai Ling brings the character of CoCo to life as she really can act. In fact, she has that intensity in her that another actress like Zhang ZiYi is lacking if she takes on the role. Despite her wild and often eccentric persona, Bai Ling is a professional actress.

This movie it's based on a book writed for a CHINESE WRITER and yes the book it's much more complex that what it's show in the trailer, so i just recommend u people read a little more before makes such ignorants comments about racism and prejudice...cuz all that shit it's just inside your head. If you guys read the book, you'd know it's not really his race that drew her in. Tian Tian was physically or mentally incapable of performing sex, so even if Tian Tian had been white, Coco wouldn't have been faithful.The movie makes it seem like Coco is a whore, but she's actually pretty intelligent.

I'm an Asian girl, and I see a couple of Asian girls saying that they prefer white guys, but don't lump us all in the same category. And Asian guys aren't innocent in degrading themselves. I saw this book at the Ohio State Univ. bookstore and sat down to read it...ended up missing two classes to finish it. Great book but I was a little unnerved at the stereotypical demasculation of asian men (Tian Tian of course) and Coco's overwhelming desire for the dominant white man...and I'm a white guy that dates asian girls, lol. Bai Ling is incredible though. Gotta find the movie

Ok, movie sucked. They movie didnt show all the beggars, the overcrowded places, the pollution, and the movie makes it seem as if everyone can speak English. Sorry, Shanghai is just another big city. Its not an international beautiful city. If you want that, you gotta go to beijing. Waste of effort trying to find this movie

I really think Bai Ling isn't pretty enough to play the role of Coco. I don't know, maybe she was chosen because of her acting skills [haven't watched the film yet] but she isn't pretty enough.

I like Tiantian, though.

there's a part in the movie about a soccer tournament and luke goss has to shoot a penalty.....i'm the goalkeeper ^^ they shot the scene at an old soocer-pitch in shanghai and asked the german school shanghai it it was possible to provide a soccerteam...guess we were lucky
