Cobus needs to re-record this one in my opinion. It's an absolutely fantastic track but I feel he has improved as a drummer so much since this recording and the standard of software he uses to record has also. Would love to see a 2012 version, it'd be incredible!

Dude, you're good, there's no doubt about that. But one of the best things about Switchfoot is their simplicity. In my personal opinion, you did WAY too much in this cover. But like I said, you're a dang good drummer. Keep it up.

@kodfish I agree that he's showcasing his drumming abilities, like I said in my previous comment, he's a dang good drummer, but he just picked the wrong song here. I've watched a bunch of his other videos, covering songs with more complex drum tracks. THOSE are the songs that he can throw in more ellaborate fills(and he does a dang good job of it), not this one. To me it ruins the song. The former drummer in the band that I'm in did the same thing, and he lost them some BOTB's because of it.

You can definitely see the Travis Barker in his style here. From the ultra-high crash on the right to the HUGE accents in the chorus', I'm glad he evolved out of it though...not that Barker is a bad thing, but I think enough people have copied him, I'm glad Cobus found his own personal style.

@masterbeat04 people put too much emphasis on "top of the line" stuff, i think. I have a Sabian B8 crash cymbal, horrible by other cymbal's standards, but it sounds great with my kit...fast decay, sharp and snappy on the bell and riding....a cymbal is a cymbal. it can be played well or not played well, but dressing your kit up with all sorts of bells and whistles doesnt always make things better automatically.
