I appreciate what you are saying and respect your view but I am still fascinated by his work (reason or no reason). His love for film comes through very clearly in "Histoire du cinema" and I am looking forward to repeated viewing of it.(I have seen it years ago and just ordered it on DVD).I too have spent lifetime looking at,reading about, thinking of films and will continue to do so. But some people like Godard or David Lynch just take you on the trip and sometimes that´s all I want.
You should spend a little more time and effort caring about the airplane, the fuel cost, the pollution damage and the destination. Godard is despised by the French who have just started to realize that the so-called "New Wave" (as explained by Godard and Truffaut) was a sham and that they almost destroyed their real and precious (pre-Godard) filmic heritage while those idiots ran the show. Don't ever forget that.
And considering half the subtitles are missing, his nonsense is particularly nonsensical. Do you have to be French-speaking like me to understand this is complete bullshit?
I have no rage against Varda, Rohmer and Chabrol. They are great creators. Only Godard is contemptible. Truffaut is mediocre and Rivette is a non-entity.
I take Godard idiocy over most people imntelligence any day. You have to see the whole thing- it´s unfair to judge it out of context. Even then, obviously, it´s not for everyone.
I have spent a lifetime appreciating cinema and ***trying*** to decipher Godard. He leaves absolutely no room for reason. His "histories of cinema" are obviously disorganized and, in my humble opinion, totally useless except as a glimpse into a very sick mind. And he repeats countless times that "you don't have to see the whole thing". That is one of his only clearly formulated messages (as idiotic as it sounds).
@baracine, "Rivette is a non-entity, Truffaut is mediocre"... could you explain this? I don't understand...

How can you "respect the view" of such a poorly informed, aggressive numb-brain who is dead to this obviously brillaint, moving, wise film?

Initially I thought him a film lover with an opinion he was entitled to however wrong
I thought it to be and tried to reason with him.
However in his third comment baracine started to wonder off the subject and really talking nonsense.....

If "wandering off subject and talking nonsense" was a crime, you wouldn't be watching this. Obviously.

ever wonder why you have all this rage about Godard, Truffaut, Rivette, Rohmer, Varda, Chabrol, ESPECIALLY Godard?
Your rage overwhelms any argument you offer.

The usual Godard idiocy, i.e. a total inability to communicate his meaning clearly (if any).
