E' con immenso piacere che ascolto la Brian Auger family Band...visti a Forlì in una bellissima serata al Naima ... io c'ero ! ...PER SEMPRE >>>BUONA VITA<<<<<<<
I can't get enough of Brian Auger's music. I still drive around with early recordings of his CDs in my car, even after all these years. I saw him perform at the Tulagi's night club in Boulder, CO way back in the early 1970s and it was one of the best performances I ever saw. I really hope he tours here in southern California soon.
I have seen Brian Auger and his awesome band a few times and I hope they come around to Sacramento, CA again very soon! I just love this music and the great performance!
To my great surprise, I got to see my favorite long standing groove master Brian Auger one summer night in La Jolla, Ca, I believe Paul Rekow and Singing vocals was the fantastic Alex Ligertrwood... Brian, Been listening to you since Rod The Mod was your back-up singer.
Attention Earth!...Any dislikes or negative comments about this music or the artists performing it are to be completely disregarded...REPEAT...disregarded!
What an amazing song and the band is simply awesome!
Wow! That familiy rocks! It is still fantastic to hear and see (yeah!) Brian with his B3 machine. Saw this band in 2006 in Hannover and was surprised that the impressing voice belongs to his daughter and the real good drummer is his son. Hope to meet them again.
im not surprised mainstream america doesn't pay attention to the master of the B-3 (only us old timers remember and appreciate him), but why isnt today's media all over Karma? She is the complete package; talent, beauty, and a vibrant personality.
here is my take on the truth of tellng in 2011, go ahead, but I promise it will sound like your a "two faced liar" as some people can't "handle the truth" I quote Jack Nicolson. I can't stand people who preach "hating the two faced" when they can't see it for what it is.
Nice of Karma to post this, but the DVD is actually sharper and the sound even better! In other words, get the CD and DVD (both together for a great price!), "Live at The Baked Potato"! I can't imagine Karma would mind me saying that it's better!
@atlaskick It does! I Love Brian Auger and Jeff Beck, in fact I believe Brian was supposed to play in The Jeff Beck group around the time "Situation" from "Rough and Ready" was out, according to the biography about Jeff Beck by Annette Carson! Even the riff is pretty much the same! Wonder if Brian and Jeff and the band were jamming on the twq chord groove, and one of them made up the riff, then bridge, parted ways, for whatever reason, and then each one simply took ownership?
Karma, refreshing to hear your Dad playing the songs, same way he used to without changing them up so that you don't recognize them anymore. He still has that drive, energy, style that is uniquely his. His children are Oblivion Express now. How remarkable! I saw your Dad live years ago in San Diego and upon my suggestion the producer for that particular show, not really knowing much about your Dad booked him anyway. Glad I was able to experience it! The 70's were special because of your Dad.
Brian Auger has been producing competent jazz/blues of this caliber since the late 1960s. My brother and I bought some of his vinyl back then, when none of our friends had heard of him. Long gone, sadly.
Tri-board. oh, how expensive looking that outfit. Rick Wakemen would stack his up because they didn't cator to such technology. On that chic, I was going to say "reminds me of Stevie Nicks" but how cliche, she's probably better.
What do you mean by "The so called "vocalist" perhaps you prefer britney spears or Marie France? This singer is on a different level..a natural and yet seems so young....I d love to hear her sing Road to Cairo etc
Even if this music sounds a little bit "cliché", as we say in France, I have been loving it (the music, Savannah was not even born...), since the 70's.
I have been a fan of Brian Auger since his blue album "Oblivian Express" yes being in America I have heard a few organist, but he is my pick. the man is just phonominal. The most amazing thing about his playing is he funks big time even in the sixties he funked; It's just in him. and he desrves his due here in America also in Europe as one of the few greatest organist.
There use to be a clip from this same gig with BA playing Happiness is Just round the Bend...where did it go? If anyone has it would you please post it.
Brian Auger has that ultra cool sound on the organ that makes you wanna hear more. he's just one of the very very few who the one RIGHT on that instrument.
YEP! I like the efortlessness of his playing. Its like listening to someone rolling down a hill with the brakes off, but without need of putting a foot to the peddle. That's skill huh? To make it seem so easy (when it ain't). Brakes off!
Well, that's what you couild call the family spirit of 69...I opened for Brian in Brussels in 69, I think and Julie was still around...however Julie was great, Savanah is doing just fine on her own and has nothing to envy to anybody else. This is a great tune executed ( if you can call it that ) with a mastery all around. Brian will never cease to amaze me. I just barely have mastered his staccatto technique with the right hand after 40 years of trying. Just watching him makes me dizzy. Man.....
but if you like it, then you better go running listening to the original (album titled sec ond wind, of course with oblivion express), & by that time with the amazing alex ligertwood on vocals. nothing to compare with this poor version.
@hallometjohn Actually, it's the opening track from Brian Auger's Oblivion Express's "Second Wind" album...I think I prefer this very version, though. Cheers!
Wow! These guys are tight. Amazing sound overall. I just heard of Brian Auger today for the first time (Sorry!) and I can see what all the hype is about. But it's not hype, it's the real thing.
Brian has the greatest cover on the Album Steinway to Heaven - Its amazing Wish I was there at the Baked Patato for this event. BTW they really do serve Baked Potatoes there.
Saw this band last night! This band is AWESOME! And that girl right there had me standing up everytime she took to the microphone! That girl can SANG! LOL! Really, really enjoyed myself.
Brian Auger has been a favorite of mine for a good while now and the band is super tight and everyone sounds wonderful. However, I would like to submit that this video is all about the B-3 with this white diamond sparkle wrap! Love that!!
...wow, Karma, the drumming so locks in with the organ and e.p....just awesome style... nice tight sounding kit as well... really enjoyed this and the other OE numbers... thanks for this..
Whats it like being you dude? Never mind, it is a blessed life I know. Currently I am stuck in the trendy gentrified section of Echo Park and am still trying to migrate to the valley and play the Baked Potato. I first went there at age 16 in '84 and am glad to see it is still vibrant and hosting greats like your father. There are also Jazzbo's in the valley still thak god.
Just saw Brian & the group today @ Glendale AZ jazz fest (4/05/09)...the ol' B-3 broke after the second song (Truth)....oh, well......shit happens...he finished the show on the electric piano.......
The power generator was not strong enough. Nothing wrong with the organ. You should have stuck around, we got the crew to run an ac line from a nearby building halfway through the set just for the organ and dad played the rest of the show with all guns blazing! The organ rocked Indian Rope Man, Bumpin' On Sunset, Second Wind, Whenever You're Ready, Light My Fire, Compared to What...
Karma, nice of you to respond...I assumed it was the tone generator, as that is a usual culprit. I did get to see the trio. Very impressive ! Terrific job on the DW's, by the way !! Next time the OE rolls through town, I'll be there......Been a fan of your Dad since the late 60's....Thanks again !!!!
Actually the "usual culprit" at festivals is the power generator providing power to the stage. The problem is not the voltage but the cycles per second which are shifting when the power generator is working to hard. In America we have 110v @ 60cps. In Europe we have 220v @ 50cps. You cannot bring an American organ to Europe and just use a step down transformer. The organ runs flat almost half a tone and vise versa it runs sharp because the organ has a motor. It does not affect any other gear.
The crew, God bless 'em didn't believe me beacause of course nothing else was having problems. So there was a lot of lollygagging around. Next time maybe we should leave the stage until we get it fixed properly. Maybe that will put some spring in their step and speed things up!! In the end The Audience suffers both ways and I'm still on the fence about which is better. One thing I know is that I cannot be in 2 places at once!!!
That's a tough call to make...You effect the audience either way...but, maybe the crew would have taken it a bit more seriously if you had left the stage. I would have at least hung for a bit to see if it could be fixed. It appeared to us that it was broke and not able to be repaired. Anyway, we enjoyed what we did hear.
@kda001 I'm two years late to this parade, but have to chime in...
You're absolutely right about the power supply, Karma. The first time I came across this was at a club on the south side of Chicago in 1974. Old place, and we quickly found out that something was amiss; my B was flat by a full tone. I looked at our slide guitar player and shouted that they were playing in the wrong key...which of course they weren't. I had to play the entire 2 sets transposing on the fly!
After watching this clip 30 times I finally got the 70 Oblivion Express album out of my attic collection -fired up the old turntable and enjoyed the talent of Brian Auger all over again.
Awesome! My older brother turned me on to Brian Auger back in the 70's and I wore out the Closer To It album. Nice to see he's still making great music. Thanks for posting this!
the more i watch this, the more impressed i am. brian is still incredible, but his kids are also very talented. savannah is an excellent jazz singer, and apparently karma is the driving force that keeps the current express rollin. thanx for posting this.
I am from Akron & NorthEast Ohio has always had a big Brian Auger following (But not quite as big as the Michael Stanley Band fan base! LOL)! Ok...Ok I was joking! LOL
Incredible stylist never really got the recognition he deserved. The man is a legend and is loved my many who truly appreciate his genius. Thanks Brian for staying on top of your game for so many years. You're the best! RRoder
I was fortunate enough to see Brian Auger' Oblivion Express after my senior year in 1981 at the CLEVELAND AGORA. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....TRUTH...........!!!!!!!
I`m from Canton. I miss the old "Cleveland Agora". The Agora was Ian Hunter`s inspiration to write:"Cleveland Rocks". A lot of great bands got their start at the "Cleveland Agora". The bands loved the crowd and the crowd loved the bands.
I saw Brian Augers Oblivion Express at the College of Wooster, and the Civic Theater in Akron. Both great concerts.
WMMS late night in the 1970's turned me on to brian auger. oblivion express was very popular in cleveland in those days, as were awb, jeff beck (blow by blow/wired), herbie hancock, chick corea, al demiola, etc.. i dont know if cleve still rocks, but it was a great place for music back in the day when i was comin up. go browns!
Brian Auger he's the man! I found his music in a college record store back in the 70's. Bought the album because it had a cool cover. I had no idea how cool the music was. He's at the top of the heap for keyboard playing. I missed the band when it came to Denver, CO. Please come back.
I have been a long time fan of this great B-3 artist. he has gone thru musical transitions, but his daughter is on vocals & son on drums, with a revolving bass player. Most of his older and new are available on cd from his web site. A great man and band
can you imagine growing up in a house full of augers music.i had the honor of working for brian years ago.i had always been impressed by his musicianship but was even more impressed by brian and his family as people.
Brian's still got great chops! Hadn't heard any new material of his for (ahem!) at least 30 years. Had a flashback and thought I'd check him out on YouTube. Thanks for posting this. He can still lay down some serious grooves.
Once when I saw Brian Auger perform, I invited him to sit down at a table with us. For over an hour, he told stories, made us laugh and signed over 48 items I had with me. He told the story of the hand-knit sweaters on the Reinforcements LP cover, and loads more. What a fantastic guy! You've got to see them live!
i'm here to tell you that Brian Auger is AWESOME as a person, and a musician. Lead vocals are by the lovely Savannah Grace Auger and son Karma on drums. I've seen them perform three times and they always give it 110%.
This cut is from "Second Wind", which might just be the best Oblivion Express album. What a great musician Auger is. I have over 30 albums of his music.
Great keyboard work, with both instruments at the same time. I take it that must be his daughter on vocals. I am curious to find out if there are new songs, too. Amazing to find this.
Brian transmits on-stage happiness all around. You just can't help get happy on this stuff. Saw OS at The Jazz Cafe about five years ago. Did first half accoustic because a truckload of gear was late. Wahey!!!
It's great to see Auger still performing! I bought all the Oblivion Express albums when they came out. I was serious fan! He still sounds great! Rock on!
I saw Brian Auger at the Belle Starr in Buffalo 30 years ago and got to standright next to the B. This is great and I'm glad he's alive and kickin', dammit!
Met Alex Ligertwood outsiade a hotel at Namm 2001, that was akick!
Missed him at cancelled Brighton gig. this november, but saw him in london last year.: last time before that was 35 years ago at Ronnie Scots in Soho .I drove 100 miles each way every night for 2 weeks to hear his last ever gigs in Uk before he left for USofA That was with Julie Driscol,{Why did they splitup?]Vinyl is one thing but you just have to see the enthusiasm of them live. "the season of the witch", that driving Hammond, cannot be beaten
Caught Mr. Auger and family last month in a small venue in Riverside County, of all places. Sat right in front stage, close to the B3. Great sounds, excellent performance. Some good things...never change. Best B3 man this side of the Universe. Savannah and Karma weren't so bad either.
this is fantastic. What a great career this man has had. And what a talented family also. He did one of the best versios of back at the chicken shack i've ever heard. This is a classic example of getting better with age. Think i'll go back to 1970 and throw those Oblivion Express tunes on the Hi-Fi. Thanks Brian.
Didn't he record a song title Freedom Jazz Dance? I'd completely forgotten about him until recently. Funny how a melody can bring back memories and take you back many years.

One thing I know is that I cannot be in 2 places at once!!!
kda001 2 years ago 3

Actually he only played several songs on the electric. Utimately the organ received dedicated power and the show went on!

Wow!!! He's almost as good as Robert Walter! Wish I'd heard of this guy earlier

lol... "as good as Robert Walter".... indeed ;-)

Who the hell is Robert Walter? Brian Auger is one of Hammond organ's icons. He started in about the 60s and is still working. Excellent player!

Top class jazz/rock/blues fusion. I, shame, discover this artist now. Thanx for posting.

Really cool song, I really like it. Both the musical and sung part are great!
Don't kill me, but I'd see that pretty well as a house remix!

the more i watch this, the more impressed i am. brian is still incredible, but his kids are also very talented. savannah is an excellent jazz singer, and apparently karma is the driving force that keeps the current express rollin. thanx for posting this.

I was fortunate enough to see Brian Auger' Oblivion Express after my senior year in 1981 at the CLEVELAND AGORA. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....TRUTH...........!!!!!!!
lightdweller 3 years ago
I`m from Canton. I miss the old "Cleveland Agora". The Agora was Ian Hunter`s inspiration to write:"Cleveland Rocks". A lot of great bands got their start at the "Cleveland Agora". The bands loved the crowd and the crowd loved the bands.
I saw Brian Augers Oblivion Express at the College of Wooster, and the Civic Theater in Akron. Both great concerts.
North East Ohio Rocks Baby.

I saw the Auger familiy in a small club in Switzerland. He's still the man.

All right. It's "truth". I'm sorry.

I think that the singer may be Brian Auger's daughter and the drummer may be his son. Does anyone know?

Yes they are -- check out the 'Happiness is just round the bend' clip for info. Great to see these.

I saw Brian Aguer's Oblivion Express last night in Dayton. They kicked some booty. They really got off.

Brian's still got great chops! Hadn't heard any new material of his for (ahem!) at least 30 years. Had a flashback and thought I'd check him out on YouTube. Thanks for posting this. He can still lay down some serious grooves.
garyji 4 years ago
I can't wait to see him in concert in a couple of weeks.
RLW1967 4 years ago
Once when I saw Brian Auger perform, I invited him to sit down at a table with us. For over an hour, he told stories, made us laugh and signed over 48 items I had with me. He told the story of the hand-knit sweaters on the Reinforcements LP cover, and loads more. What a fantastic guy! You've got to see them live!
jazzyjas 4 years ago
i'm here to tell you that Brian Auger is AWESOME as a person, and a musician. Lead vocals are by the lovely Savannah Grace Auger and son Karma on drums. I've seen them perform three times and they always give it 110%.

I have alot of his records. Brings back great memories for me in Detroit MI. it is great that he still tours. geri

This cut is from "Second Wind", which might just be the best Oblivion Express album. What a great musician Auger is. I have over 30 albums of his music.

Hot! Seeing this video has convinced me to catch the band on their North American tour this summer. Hoping for a date in Detroit or Chicago.

Wahey!!!

Funny how a melody can bring back memories and take you back many years.
webstercat 4 years ago
yes he did as a matter of fact that's probably my favorite lp of his. It featured Alex Ligertwood on vocals who sang this tune(Truth)on the same lp.
