  • I think rfoshaug knows that this isn't the first time that i give a comment here on this cover.

It is so an addiction... The variation between Equinoxe 7 and the little tunes of Arpegiator did it.

Great cover rfpshaug, you are the best ! ;p

Can you do it for Chronologie 4 or oxygene 8 ? ;))

  • @rfoshaug your great at these.... i want to learn lol. i want to start piano lessons but what kind though? what kind of genre is yours? dj piano? lol or something else? because if i want to look for a place to play a piano like yours and still do these amazing effects what do i look for? because this type of music is what i love. Voyager and earthrise were amazing.. all of them are! :)

  • Parabéns,timbres muito similares aos originais.Muito bom

  • jean michel jarre has favorited this! I like it.

  • @SoundInterfaceDriver I know, I know!! Isn't that cool?? :-)

  • @rfoshaug The actual JMJ has favourited this video?

That is incredible, you must be on cloud 9... well done!

  • @rfoshaug

    Pretty cool cover. Great job.

I have to admit. I almost prefer your version than Jarre.

But gotta give the main credit to Jean Michel.

I really believe Jarre is the Mozart of our modern era.

We don't have many great creative composer these days.

    Keep the nice work.

  • Wow. Very good rendition.

  • all your work is 5 stars...it is just fantastic...do you ever record onto cd or mp3's...this is great cover..you have much talent...i very much enjoy all of the videos you show here....amazing... i love this...

  • nice one mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • - i have just sent a comment and a link to this video to my Facebook-profile so me friends can see yer potential, hope yer dont mind that.

  • No problem at all. :-)

  • - Ohhh yea every time i hear this version of EQ 7 it makes me in such a good mood, and in my opinion its still the best cover there are made of JMJs music to this date.

  • Thank you, danske. ;-)

  • Exelent, this came out in 76 i think, i was just 5 years old and remember my farther listening to it. Since then i have had his compleat collectin but unfortuenatly it got stolen, thank goodness for youtube!!.

Again well done a very good cover.

  • Well done!

Did you transpose the lower part of your Keyboard? You play a scale in Am and the rest of the song is in Cm. ;)

  • Indeed I did, well spotted. :-)

I transposed the lower part to make those "sweeps" possible to play without using the black keys, just gliding my fingers across the keyboard (and stopping at just the right note of course).

  • This is one of my favourite tracks. Great version.

I recorded this on my home-made PAiA 9700s modular, but the whole thing fell out of tune at the end, so it's not (yet) for public consumption.

    This is great though.

  • très bon travail ! ! Franchement je revis complètement ces premiers moment où je commençais seulement a découvrir et à aimer.

Jean michel jarre nous a laisser de très belle mélodie pour pouvoir rêver. Merci de me re transmettre cette douce sensation (le rêve)..

  • Great version. My compliments!

  • woooooooooow! That's wonderful, congratulations!

  • I love it!!!

  • amazing! 5/5

  • Great stuff Rune! 5*! But I wish we seen you play the bass line, that's the best bit :)

  • awesome!

  • It always maked me happy

  • Excellent remix ! Tout y est :) Très bon boulot ! Continue. J'ai hâte de voir et surtout d'écouter d'autres remixes et/ou musiques de ta composition. Musicalement vôtre.

  • I have no words, except thank you!

    5*

  • AAWESOMEE! GREAT JOB !!!!!!

  • I can't stop listen this cover! it's a perfect job! can I ask for more?

Try to find in internet CD of Polish electronic magician: Marek Biliński: E = mc2 or Ogród Króla Świtu (The Garden of the King of the Dawn). Maybe you will find some inspiration in his music.

    Regards!

    Stanley

  • I can´t get enough of this equinoxe cover*****

  • Excelente.

  • approvo

    yes

  • You're the best, man. Excellent 5***** Jarre debería estar orgulloso

  • Very fantastic. !!congratulations :)

    Jarre basic

  • fucking fantastic! the transition to arpegiator was seamless. genius stuff!

  • you're a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! This is great!!! Fantastic improvisation!!! I love this kind of music. Thank you for sharing it.

  • fantastic......

  • Well i can play part of it lol..

Gotta say this version is as good as Jean Michel's It's Stunningly mesmorising.

What a beautiful bit of kit too, i wish i had axcess to sythn's like that.

  • This is absolutly the best version ever. even my version sounds like crap compared to this one. again a very great job recreating this awesome piece of music. everytime i enjoy this version when i listen to it.

  • Thank you, StudioF! Coming from an excellent musician as yourself, your comment means a lot to me. :-)

  • Brilliant, but it would have been cool 2 see u playing the bassline intro cuz that practically made this song legendary :)

  • It's an awesome cover and variation of Equinoxe 7 and Arpegiator. I could listen to it 24/7.

  • Really good and authentic sounding version :) Love it! Keep up the great work!

  • Great! Fantastic cover. No, it's not a simple cover. It's a recriation! Amazing!

  • That is just so sweet and on the nose. I'm unfamilar with the synths you have there, but you have obviously pushed them to the limit. and Jean Michel quite rightly acknowledged it. I'm thrilled for you!...

  • Stunning cover - JMJ also thinks so!

Can't stop listening to this - get the MP3 its brilliant.

  • Fantastic cover. 5/5

  • your covers are the best i have ever heard.

i can listen this all the time. good work mate. keep going!!!

  • This is awesome man!

Currently I'm in the mood for re-discovering Jarre's classics. Listening to covers like this helps a lot!

I also love the great way you blended the main elements of Equinoxe VII and l'Arpeggiateur, without violating these compositions. With my eyes closed, I imagen this is Jarre on his latest tour, doing a totally new, yet very recognizable remix of his own classics.

  • Genius Cover !!!!!!!!!! :D gz ;]

  • SUPERBE !! bien jouer ;)

  • Hey man, did you noticed that your video is in the JMJ favourites list? :-D Go to his profile and check yourself :-)

  • what's his profile

  • / user / jeanmicheljarre

  • Oh, and if you check the description, there is a link to a blog post by the man himself

  • any time I come here and listen to your play,,,the more I appreciate!

  • Cool Sound and Tunes . more please

    Greatings

    DM2

  • Sorry, GREAT showmanship (I mean that) but there is NO WAY your left hand is playing that glissando! He he, I admire your performance though, and the sound is great.

  • I take it back - I see you have transposed the keyboard up a semitone and it would be impossible to play otherwise. Very, very good, I never thought about the structure of this piece before, it's really beautiful. Thanks.

  • Hehe... :-) The left part of the keyboard is transposed 3 semitones up. This lets me play the part in A minor instead of C minor. And in A minor, this glissando is white keys only.

Just gliding the fingers across the keys, trying to reach the correct destination note on time. :-)

It's not 100% exactly the same as the original's glissando, but close enough I think, especially since I can then play it live.

Which, by the way, I actually do. ;-)

    Thanks for your comments!

  • A minor with a flattened 7th - isn't that called a natural minor or something? I never realised this run could be done on white notes, you must have really looked closely at the music since it's not a normal minor scale. I'm adding this perf to my faves. Aaron Hart

  • you're working with the m3's sequencer for bassline? what part does the radias (it is a radias, err?) up there take?

thanks for NOT wrecking up harmonies (like many other do) and keeping jarres styles and arrangements. very nice equinoxish-extension, slightly facing to magnetic fields "live" and the unbeaten "arpegiator".

could you send me the sequencer-data for the m3? :)

  • Amazing work! I love this, this is almost authentic Jarre. Great skills you have.

  • Fantastic job!

  • hi there... amazing work... gotta question for u! someone upload a video/composition" called; Equinox live in your living room ...it was great cover, compeletly in new style...was that U????? last time i played it on Youtube was last week.. since then that video is disappppppeard or removed...

  • Hi and thanks for your comment. I haven't had any videos removed for months, and the Equinoxe video you're talking about wasn't mine.

  • I'd like to ask about the Background: Is this a MIDI file or something more complicated? And do you use a sequencer or something else? Thanks.

  • I use the different tracks in the M3 sequencer to control the backing. For some of them (like the bass drum), I've just recorded one bar and copied it across the song, but for the melodic tracks, I've just recorded them by playing manually all the way through.

There's no MIDI file as a starting point - everything is played and programmed into the sequencer from scratch.

All the major lead sounds are also programmed by myself, but I have used some preset sounds in the background and percussion.

  • Hello,

    synthé du bas: KORG M3

Synthé du haut: KORG Radias ou Radius

    Cordialement

  • AWESOME!!! Long time Jarre fan, and I hate it when people do crap covers. This, with the improvisation in Jarre's style, is fantastic. Blows me away, and it just helped me decide between which synth to get - the Korg M3 ;o)

Sames goes for your Indistrial Revolutions too, incredible!

  • - yea i can still understand why JMJ is so impressed of this cover, it is so magnificent and i am so impressed about yer way to play it, keep that up mate im sure yer can bring yer music career far!

  • good on you, mate, this is the best jarre cover i heard in years,i love to listen to it over and over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mate, I just subscribed to your vids. Bravo.

  • I love Jarre and you are super!!! Bravo!!!

  • the korg radius is super,my compliments, you play it cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great great stuff, I love your first-person Jarre covers!

To quote you: Luckily for you, YouTube has a max limit of 10 minutes per video, because I could go on like that forever. :-)

GO ON FOREVER DUDE!! I wouldn't mind listening to this for another hour!

  • :-) :-)

    Thank you.

  • fantastic cover and radias sounds great

    give us more ;-)

  • i d love it if you played 6:20 lower

  • dude you rocked !!!

  • i couldnt believe it at first

    AWESOME

    YOU R NATURAL TALENT

  • excellent mix!!.

    Congratulations.

    SIROK

  • my jaws are dropping to the floor. mouth wide open.. this is very good. I also like the fact that the master himself linked to this video on his blog. How is that for appreciation :) JMJ is the most down to earth worldclass artist I have ever seen...

  • Equinoxe is Jarre's best album. Oxygene is good, but Equinoxe is more mature. Incredible music.

    Nice cover! :)

  • wow..... excelent..... really impressive

  • All of the previous comments sum it up, one question though. How did you get it onto youtube in stereo?

  • After recording the video and editing it in Windows Movie Maker, I then used a program called "Any Video Converter" (google it) to save the video as a Flash Video (.flv) file with these parameters:

    Video Size: 320x240

    Video Bitrate: 192

    Video Framerate: 30

    Audio Codec: mp3

    Audio Bitrate: 128

    Sample Rate: 44100

I then uploaded the finished .flv file, and it should show up on YouTube in stereo with these parameters. Upload any other format, and YouTube converts it to .flv in mono. :-)

  • To tell you the honest, Any Video Converter is a pile of sh*t. Seriously, it messed up mah files big time, when I first tried it.

I strongly recommend you Wondershare Video Converter Platinum. Sometimes it also loves to do funny results (presumably with AVIs), but it works a LOT better than Any Video Crapcoverter.

  • Thanks for the advice. I'll check it out. :-)

  • I've tried playing aroud with this one myself, but this is something else!

    Seriously well done.

The development into the second half is great and references Arpeggiateur without actually covering it, which was brilliant.

Hey, I also noticed it was posted on JMJ's blog page, so the man himself is obviously impressed too.

    :)

  • I am stunned. Awesome stuff!

  • wouah !!!

    excellent !!!

  • I like your improvisation very much!

  • Très bon mélange d'Equinoxe et de Arpegiator. Cela sonne vraiment bien!

  • Awesome!!

    Keep up the good work!!

  • This is a best cover of Equinoxe 7, that I've heard so far. And this "Arpeggiateur" addition is purely awesome. I'm out of a words. Just watching this with my mouth open. :) (5)

  • wicked

  • Awesome!!

  • you did a great job. props!

  • Actually - i prefer this version to the original! Well done - you have a marvellous talent

  • Thank you. :-)

  • did you work off a midi file

  • Nope. I played each track into the internal sequencer on the M3. Not all you hear has been hand played though. Some of the percussion is copy-pasted from one measure to the rest of the song, and parts of the bass riff was played at a very slow speed. :-)

  • can someone point to the mp3 for me so i can down load it. i also epect Rf to be on a stage soon with jarre, now that would be good, loved jarre all my life but its also nice to see someone carry on in a younger mind. top video, top extended tune, any more to come

  • Thank you for your comment. :-)

There's a link to an mp3-file in the video description area on the right side of the video. Just click on "more info" - the link is at the very bottom of the video description box.

    :-)

  • awesome

  • Almost the original!!! Great work!!!! I love it!!

  • Great !

  • Wow, now up to 100 ratings and still holding at 5 stars! :-)

Thank you so much for your nice comments and ratings everyone. More videos are coming, when I get the time to finish them.
