Currently, the Taiga biome is bugged to not have the snow it should have. (it's fixed in the weekly snapshot, though) In the meantime, Tundra is your only option for snow.

@pinnsvin84 i never managed to find a snow biome. then i started a world in hardcore mode to test with a random seed and spawned in a snow biome, but i died within a day or two and never pressed f3 to check the seed. -.-

Brian, if you want to find a certain biome in your world without cartographing your entire map (since that may take a while) you may want to look into using AMIDST, it can show you where strongholds, mushroom biomes, snow/ice plains, slime chunks...

Wow! Loving the terrain you are getting Brain. One thing I do hate with the 1.0 terrain generator(So Beta 1.8+) is the lack of big hills.hills in biomes other than the EXTREME MOUNTAIN Biome.
