  • very nice man. i speak your language! great info.

  • hi...what esx is that? looks like a version for dislexics pensioners!! it's smaller than the one i've got and it's got bigger knobs?!

  • thats a pretty sweet synth, I wish I could get one like that.

  • When you use the Korg ER-1 mkII to control the MicroKorg, the drum machine calls specific programs on the synth to go with the pattern. When you change the pattern on the er-1 the program changes on the microkorg. Ever notice that?

  • This is what more people need to create. Well Done! Thanks for the information. I own a Korg Radias. I stumbled upon your video because I wanted to know more about the Korg electribe sampler (ESX). People use Akai MPC's, Roland MV8800 and Yamaha A5000's...but I don't hear so much talk about Korg samplers. Watching your vid made me see the ease of use of this synth. I am subscribing.

  • Hey man, thanks a lot for the video. I have a question: Do the audio outputs of the Electribe go to amps directly? Maybe you already said it in the video, but my english sucks. A lot.

  • Neat video. Suppose i'm also partial to it since i also rock the Electribe+SH-201 combo ;-) Never the less good job!

  • Electribe's are really a GREAT deal compared to trying to score a classic like the 808's or 909's.

  • Great vid ! Very well explained and easy to understand for beginners like myself ,

  • cool video, the roland is a neat synth! I ordered the electribe from ebay and i am anxiously waiting for it, seems like a really awesome toy!

  • Hi nice tut., take a look my live performance of progressive House.

  • What are your thoughts on the EMX?

Btw, very nice video! Very informative!

  • @The7thINFANTRY Thanks for the comment! I like the EMX, kinda wish I had one, but I don't use this electribe much so I figure I won't use a new one that much either and it wouldn't be worth the cash.. anyways, I think they are great drum machines (especially for the price) and they can sound really great. Also, the newest ones with SD Cards are really useful. Some people are doing amazing stuff with them.

  • Good stuff man, keep 'em coming!

  • people like you, help people like me, im back from analogue days, had jupiter 6 for years, some times i struggle to keep up, posts like this are a godsend

    thanks

  • @emjay946 Good! I'm glad it helped. Please subscribe if you haven't already! Oh, and ya know, click an ad or two. :)

  • Intriguing setup: let me see if I have this right: the synth channel on the Electribe is running into the midi channel of the 201. Is that a patch you created or a preset?

btw did you get the Gaia : ) Hope so, I need to see more Gaia campadres and less haters. My setup is Gaia + EMX-1 also got Maschine...plugins too! : / VG channel subbing here! cheers

  • @NickDrake101 I think that patch was just a random one I picked, not sure if I made it or not. I probably did because I usually make everything myself. Yeah, you've got it right. I do have the GAIA and I like it. I will admit, its just a hardware version of a software synth, but I like having knobs/faders/etc. I have done some pretty sweet stuff with the GAIA and I'm planning to use it in some live performances soon. How do you like the EMX?

  • @BiggaBMusic Yeah, I agree with you it is a virtual analogue, so it is , in effect, a hardware version of a soft synth. Though, I step out and say that tthe Gaia is really a powerhouse synth. Flat out, I'm no expert--in fact I'm really still just a beginner, but the complexity of the sounds from the Gaia is in a league of its own. Not a pale analogue imitator! Just intricate...and quite vintage sounding...

  • @NickDrake101 I agree. If you don't know of Richard Devine, he is an amazing sound designer, then you should check into him. Anyways, when I saw him endorsing the GAIA, I knew it was for real. I really do enjoy it and I have used it a lot for playing around, not yet in any songs, but I am currently using it in practice for a solo improv/jam thing I'm planning to do around here in Hollywood.. the GAIA is great for that. I can get serious and large results on the fly and have pre-made sounds too!

  • @BiggaBMusic The EMX is really decent great analogue tones, all the effects in the world that one could use. Very intuitive is the key operative of the emx. I just linked it up today with the Gaia and it does what you might imagine! With the sliders and faders: Yes, I tried it with a preset, and it sounded all analogue through the Gaia, and switching presets whilst tweaking the filter or lfo really opens up a panoply of soundscapes that are quite interesting! Cheers Walt : )

  • @NickDrake101 Cool, good to hear, I want one but I don't feel like spending the cash on it yet. I mean, I had the chance several times, but I feel like all the electribes have a very distinct sound, almost too the same, like I can't get it to not sound like an electribe.. (personal thing, opinion only) and I'm not sure if its worth 400 + dollars for me to have something that sounds like the one I already have.

  • can i sync beats i make into electribe and recorded to logic ?

  • @logicike If I understand your question correctly, Yes. You can make a beat on the electribe, then sync it up using MIDI/MIDI Clock and Record the audio into Logic at the correct tempo. Does that help?

  • @BiggaBMusic Thanx for answering me.i dont know how to sync with midi clock..i know how to use it with logic when i insert midi from logic piano roll but how to midi clock with logic when the pattern is made in electribe?

  • @logicike Oh, ok.. in Logic, this how you do it:

Go into your Project Settings > MIDI > Sync

Then you will see some drop down boxes where you can select which MIDI port to send the MIDI Clock out of... I don't remember exactly but there is also a checkbox you need to check.. you will figure it out though. Then just press OK or Save or whatever. Let me know if you need more info.

  • hey well im still new to all this stuff. how exactly are you wiring all this. Is the Midi and the audio outputs going into the electribe?? and are you controling the roland with the electribe. yea textbook question, i got lots of them lol

  • @Demonicfire11 Yeah, I think you have it right. The Electribe is sequencing its own sounds as well as the sounds from the Roland SH-2O1. The MIDI Out of the Electribe is going to the MIDI In of the SH-201. Then the Audio Outputs of the SH-201 are going to the Electribe as inputs, which allows the Electribe to not only sequence the SH-201 but also act as a gate where the audio only comes through where it is supposed to. That help?

  • sweet. this is the same set up i got right now.

  • @ZanexDissociation Cool. I'm glad you got something out of it. I take requests for tutorials, ideas, experiments, answers for questions, etc. from subscribers. So, sub me if you want more awesome audio stuff! Its about to get much better too, I'm moving to Hollywood and will be covering lots of audio/music events and showing a lot of my work with clients and other artists!
