Dark? Maybe. Honest? Absolutely. For many years this song has given birth to more cinematic visions in my mind than could fill a 20 screen cineplex round the clock. It kinds of demands it of one doesn't it?
@tmpalao1 Indeed. Thank you for watching. My video called the Wheel of Time is along similar lines but very different music. It's not nearly as strong a song as Mr. Time but might interest you because of the subject. I appreciate your taking the time to comment here.
Music and words can certainly activate the thought process. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, purely from an artistic point of view. Jeff you are truly a master of your craft in this respect. Sure, there is a very deep and meaningful message to be had, beyond that there is so much more. I have such appreciation and admiration for your exquisite creations.
Well I try. But of course one can't hit a "home run" every time.I enjoy making them. Each stands in their own light. But I confess that I have some I like more than others. I actually never expected this one to get all the kind comments it has. (Yours included.) SO thank you very much. I appreciate it.
aweinspiring...thought provoking...incredibly insightful interpretation...one of the best of the best I have seen...Masterpiece audio/visual...incredible talent artistically and technically...thank you for the incredible amount of time it takes to make this happen...a true rare gift...a treasure
Thanks. It usually takes me a few days to do these, depending on the length of the song and the challenge of finding photos. So I very much appreciate your appreciation. I have a degree in music and taught music for many years. I think that helps a great deal in my sense of when to make transitions within the music. Each piece is different and takes on a life of it's own. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I had never heard this song before. What a subject line to get your head around.
You have the most vivid image selections I have ever seen.If you don't mind me asking... what video software do you use. I am in the process of getting a new computer and maybe it's time to turn in WMM. ;~}}}
nice vid. The original version of this song (By Jacqui Copland's own band "The Dreamfield" - she's the singer here of course) is a bit different (more guitar) but would also make for a good video - having heard both versions I slightly prefer the original as it has more power and even better vocals, but it can't actually ever be heard.. Sad. :(
@merhlin Legally AP's publishers owns the song - but I'm friends with Jacqui Copland who provided me the original (never published), and it sounds great. Her other songs (some similar in sound to Mr Time) are on youtube.
Hunting around on YouTube to find this cherished song by Alan Parsons and I stumble upon this incredible piece of video imagery. Unless viewers have personally dabbled in video editing and composition, no one realizes how much work went into this single piece, and all this with the single motive of allowing the world to enjoy sight and sound together as they relish in this nearly 20-year-old song by a master of musical creativity. Mehrlin, I am your newest fan.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! 4 years of YouTubes, nothing holds rank with this creation. The words "thank You" seem so limp when trying to exonerate the works of a true creator of thought travels.
You certainly got out of your "box" on this one merhlin. If I saw this show and did not know it was yours I could not have guessed it!. Still it is your signature with the perfect transition and a very speaking message as usual. You have the most awesome pictures.. lol.. were can he have found them,,,... she asked herself.. great job I am so impressed by your work!
@PlainClay Hi Berit. Thanks! That was my purpose, to sell the song, (so-to-speak) even though it is so dark. I knew it would take me outside my "comfort zone" and I felt it would be good for me. Something similar to dressing up in scary costumes for our Halloween. It was, in all honesty, one of the hardest vids I've done to date because it was very difficult for me conceptualize. I think all of us have a dark side. It's our scared "inner child" and it just needs love.
Dear Friend, this is superb work and I loved the music ~ haunting and profound ~ the meaningful lyrics combined with the excellent slideshow presentation is very thought provoking indeed and touched me deeply. Thank you so much from my heart for sharing this with us all. I did not find it dark at all, simply enjoyed the process of feeling yet another perspective on death so poignantly , artistically and thoughtfully pressented. I loved and enjoyed every moment of it. :-) Love your videos. :-)
A magnificent and "timely" video for me to watch. Just this weekend, as I was putting lotion on my aging and dry fingers, hands and legs, I was thinking about the aging process I'm experiencing with my approaching retirement on July 1. I guess I'm going to have to start purchasing lotion by the case!
This is a very profound and thoughtful treatment of the end of life cycles. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I was really concerned that many would find this too depressing. I'm sure some will. It's certainly nothing at all like what I've done in the past. I wanted to show some versatility in working with different music and lyrics. Ironically the same week I was working on this I watched the Batman movie "Dark Knight" (for the first time) and like many, found Keith Leger's character difficult to watch, both fascinating and disturbing at the same time.
Always a delightful experience to view your work, Merlin. Thank you for your continued contributions and artistry. Your choice of images are exquisite and alluringly beautiful.

STRONG (beautiful!!!!) images to a very potent piece of music. Surely a piece of art ~ but to me also a statement (whether you intended it or not).
I see so much beauty in aging. Aging paired with maturity and wisdom appeals to me so much more than everlasting youth.
There is so much depth in your creations ~ and I love it! Thank YOU!

It fits very well with this powerful, but extremely dark song!
