  • Seems to be some weird bastard hybrid of Jimi Hendrix and Gary Glitter, at least style wise. Muscially, a lot less exciting than either.

  • Is that Dick Middleton on guitar?

  • unbderrated band

  • Lead singer is Tulisa from N-Dubz' dad

  • @Defn28 no hes the pianist!!

  • long legged woman dressed in black. excellent! all of the work by Mungo Jerry has stood the test of time. Can't see today's performers doing as well....

  • Quality!!

  • i met mungo at the hawick club bought him a drink he signed my card

  • i believe the piano player is Ian Milne can anyone confirm or correct this ?

  • Bass player..Bob Daisley...5 years later he joined Rainbow !

  • @QueenReigns1 He also formed the Blizzard Of Ozz band and had a big part in the first two albums.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kilmaar Bob And Ozzy were the first two members of the Blizzard, Randy then joined and finally Lee. Ozzy was working with some other people prior to Bob joining and Bob basically told Ozzy they were crap and Ozzy canned them. Wonder who they were. Bob did write the lyrics. You can thank Sharon for screwing up Ozzy's career. He has had a great career but imagine if the original lineup had stayed together. Randy might have still been with us. Ozzy's whole life has been apologizing for Sharon.

  • my dad sold mungo jerry carpet a few years ago. hes still got that same haircut!!

  • @griddamus you must live in the south in dorset then cos thats where he lives, he lives right by me, and he certainly does have that hair still

  • Who is that long legged woman dressed in black ... that tells You ... no!? No to You?

  • Haaaa ....another long legged woman and dressed in black... ain't a single word about being cool ... haaaa ... I didn't realize during those times there were a couple of tunes with these idols ....haaaa ....

@RoryNights .... Hey Christine ... Wish ya with this tune a lovely and relaxing week-end...see ya later :)))

  • 1:56 - 2:10 yeah!

  • Dorset is the king of sideburns

  • @MickeyLove01 - Ray Dorset : che ritmo, che rock. Fabulous, fantastic, I loved him,

in my younger years. Actually his fabulous body is changed. Is it because of the time's passing ???

  • in the summertime.....best song ever :)

  • fuck yea rock on..prude bitches lol

  • ha this song is about getting no pussy..y in all the videos the band is rocking out and the crowd id is sitting around like they dont know wtf to do??

  • @overnutts what are they supposed to do? lol

  • the piano player was actually my history teacher! No joke, wasn't much of a teacher but a really cool guy :D

  • @weefeatures I wonder what ever happened to their original piano player? His name was Colin Earl, (I may have the last name wrong). Anyhow, your teacher did a fantastic job on the piano here! Sounds great!

  • there is only to people in the world with bigger sideburns!! -that would be Wolverine and Neil Young! ;)

  • geilstes Video ever MUNGO JERRY FOR LIVE!!

  • Imao sam čast da ih gledam uživo u Beogradu. Koncert je trajao celih 35 minuta kada je klavijaturista šutnuo klavir sa bine pa je koncert završen jer nije bilo čime da sviraju. It was a great shit!

    Inače, baš volim njihovu muziku!

  • Great video!

  • The first single I ever bought while at boarding school in Rhodesia, Bulawayo.

  • I've listend to this song about 50 times in the last week.. I adore it !

and now i'm waiting for my Mungo Jerry Cd to arrive :)

  • @thelucky1 This is my favorite Mungo Jerry song too. Female rejection has never been so much fun. I almost can't wait for one of my advances to be rejected just so I can gleefully burst into the lyrics, "Every time I make a move she tell me no"!

  • This is a style known as skiffle rock, an echo of the American type of jazz, blues etc bands which played very primitive instruments, often literally improvised household items like washboards etc. In the late 50's and early sixties this concept was revived in the back yards of England mainly because young musically inspired kids could not afford real instruments and formed their own makeshift sound producing stuff. Mungo is a typical skiffle rock band - simple, energetic, vital and catchy.

  • boas lembranças

  • I thought this song was "Long cool woman in a black dress" by the hollies, or a derivation.... lol

  • supaflu1,

I took a look at that website. It was worth it to just to hear Derek Dallenger play.

I've never heard of the "stick" before.

Ray Dorset does appear to be ripping him off. Perhaps your post will at least serve as a warning to other musicians that he approaches.

I don't know why your comment got so many thumbs down, perhaps they couldn't be bothered to look.

  • it looks like a young james may on piano, i knew he could play but did not know he could rock.

  • @harper1967

Not James May. orig member;Colin Earl played with Foghat as well.

  • dude this sounds like a nursery rythme....then again he probably was going for that 50s style

  • brilliant !! takes me back 2 good times. thanx 4 postin.

  • HOT DOG JUMPING FROG!

  • I love this song and i think he is great all his songs love Shirlsxx

  • i think he's a white with a bit black

  • is the lead singer black or white

  • probably both

  • half caste

  • So is the US President, who cares?

  • Englishman - he is 63 now and as a matter of interest: He was aka Mr Mungo Jerry to wit:

Mungo Jerry was the first Western rock band to play behind the Iron Curtain.

  • This is one of the GREATEST party songs of ALL time. Try it at the next party you have....it gets everybody up and jumpin' ......I once got about 800 plus people on a ship up and jumpin to LLWDIB

  • awesome song

  • Mungo jerry one of my greatest and this song is brilliant and the guy on the piano love Shirlsxx

  • the man at the piano is the best here, listen what he's doing!

  • @especiada

I am a great fan of Mango Jerry has I love their famous hits , but never got to listen to this song - it's Great ; as expected I tought this song would be in line with Woman in Black Dress of Hillies. It's different but Good. Well I am not form America or England , but from Malaysia. See How famous - Mungo Jerry is.Even in Asia they are well known

  • @especiada:

Very true. Becose of him I've been watching the video many times...

  • Mungo Jerry - amonst the best of all time! Why didn't they make it to US!?... While widely popular in EU and around the world? All we can hear in US is just 'In The Summertime' - once in a blue moon! Let me guess, because these all London boys sound like from the US Deep South!?... Perhaps the same why another great band of the 80s, 'Bonnie M' did not make it to US either, while hugely popular in EU! What's wrong with Hollywood!?...

  • @cliffrk1 Yeah you're right no British music act has ever amounted to anything on US soil!

British pop invasion, anyone, anyone? Beatles, anyone? Rolling Stones, The Who. Anyone?

    Bueller, Bueller, anyone, anyone!?!?

  • Great song by Mungo Jerry

  • rock n roll forever.

  • scorp1onx... eres un mekoooo... ya kisieras ser lo que fue el en su tiempooo...

  • This is not the original line-up. Probably line-up 12 or something like that. Can be Bob Daisley (later in Rainbow) on bass. Pretty good song, but their albums were not very good (many had a reworking of their biggest hit In The Summertime in one way or another).

  • haha, yeah. i bet hes got a huge forehead under that hair!

  • Had never heard this song before and accidently found it this week - what a great song! Strange no one has covered it - that I know of anyway - because it has such a cool style to it...

  • Even though 'Summertime' was the big hit, this song "Rocks"

For a 1970's group their music is timeless

  • London based band fronted by singer/songwriter Ray Dorset born.21st-3-46 in Middlesex UK.Their 1st 2 songs got to UK #1. He penned Kelly Maries UK #1'Feels Like I'm In Love'. This was their 8th of 9 UK hits. #13 6th-April-74. What an ugly git!
