So I just got a banjo last earlier this month and learned Cripple Creek and The Ballad Of Jed Clampett but after watching this video I think I'll donate it to a worthy cause because holy heck I don't think I could ever learn to play like this
It is nice just clicking on your tunes on youtube and hearing one after the other.I have played them over and over So I got a real good idea where your style and licks fit in so good thru out the songs. Always hearing some new lick I had missed before. Thanks Buddy Hope only the best for ya
Hi dwdale. Yes, but it has been awhile. Sometimes I contributed the tabs for some of my recordings, and for many years I had a column called "Scale Tale" devoted to many aspects of melodic style playing.
Thank you Banjobilly. Wait! That's my name too. hehehehehe Thanks to my very talented banjo student/cinematographer John Bryan who is producing all of these You Tube videos there will be many to follow.

It appeared in an old Banjo NewsLetter around 1985, It's a great arrangement -- The second break (third one here) is killer.

Thanks,
I prefer the alternating-string melodic style as much as possible. At times, in order to get the notes I want, I use the single-string style.
