konno is damn smart -- she was accepted into a private university in japan and she's got a 3rd grade something (forgotten the name) in Kanji (chinese character) recognition and use. That's over 300 Kanji words and she knows how to use each of them correctly O.o

pity she had to leave MM. Though i guess it is better to focus on her studies.

all japanese have to know atleast 1945 kanjis - That's like a minimum to live and work in japan. Pretty much all japanese know many more of course. Like 2500-3000 kanjis.

Japanese has three kinds of alphabets. One called Hiragana has about 50 letter and Katakana which are basically the same are also about 50. Then there are Kanjis that are very similar to Chinese characters that we see as tattoos a lot. There are total of over 50,000 kanji characters with many different meanings for each kanji letters and from combining two, three, four kanjis together. Average middle school kids know over 2,000.

Average college student with a minor amount of studying would be expected to pass Level Semi-2.

I think her Level 3 is still amazing, considering the fact that she's been an active idol through High School and University.
