The death penalty does not honor the victims who have died at the hands of the accused, nor does it save the living. Capital punishment simply kills. The act of taking life is an affront to our two most basic human rights. The right to live and to not be inhumanely tortured. Death row itself is an extreme form of mental and emotional anguish as thus described. Two wrongs don't make a right, thou shalt not kill and an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

I'm against capital punishment, but aside from that if you're going to use it, only use it in the most extreme cases. Since when is someone involved in a plot/accomplice given capital murder while the actual murderers are given life in prison? The death penalty does not honor the victims who have died at the hands of the accused, nor does it save the living. Capital punishment simply kills. The act of taking life is an affront to our two most basic human rights. The right to live and to not be inhumanely tortured. Death row itself is an extreme form of mental and emotional anguish as thus described. Two wrongs don't make a right, thou shalt not kill and an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

Reading the comments and thinking, ignorance is bliss. Fact 1. The death penalty does not reduce violent crime. Fact 2. A vast majority of the law enforcement community itself does not support the death penalty. Fact 3. States without the death penalty have far fewer homicides than than with capital punishment. fact 4. Hundreds of millions of our tax dollars are wasted on this sacred cow every year. So stop the madness! The death penalty is killing the economy, not saving lives and is immoral.

the utter delusion and absurdity of the death penalty: you take one terrible thing and double it. how does killing another person on top of the already dead ones serve justice? it is one crime duplicated. it is just as awful as the original crime. it is, plain and simple-- yet another life taken. and someone has to carry it out, the button has to be pushed. sure, it's all concealed among 3 people. but they will all wonder that night, and possibly for the rest of their lives-did I kill a person?

@HalalKafir I have no problem with her dying. If she got hit by a car tomorrow, I wouldn't care. What I have a problem with is the idea of EXECUTION. We can't DECIDE that it's OKAY to kill someone, even if they've committed the crime of murder. Creating a whole system around the idea of retribution through death leaves too many gaps for errors, not to mention takes our society back to the dark ages.

@sherribailey75 If we would've stoned her to death or drawn and quartered her then we'd be going back to the dark ages. Putting someone to sleep is barely a real execution - it's a very sanitized death. The hard part is not the dying itself but to mentally prepare or the moment they strap you down. Still, she got a pretty easy way out and she was guilty of masterminding a double murder after all and admitted as much so I'm not gonna feel bad that she had to leave the planet early.

Some people might think stoning is actually more humane. it's all totally subjective. When we as a collective decide that it's okay to make it LEGAL to KILL someone as a form of punishment, we are putting ourselves in a very precarious position. You know that innocent people have been put on death row right? It's a FLAWED system and therefore it's morally WRONG.

I'm against capital punishment, but aside from that if you're going to use it, only use it in the most extreme cases. Since when is someone involved in a plot/accomplice given capital murder while the actual murderers are given life in prison? Her IQ score is two above one of the criteria for mental retardation, and Shallenberger admitted in a letter to his girlfriend that he manipulated Teresa to get her husband's money. Is she truly as bad as Ted Bundy? We are barbarians :(
