  • We will talk soon

  • When we (ancestors) were in our respective homelands (throughout Africa) and were kidnapped and placed in these United States (or England, Carribean...) we all may have had different nationalities and beliefs...but once we got here we had a common interest...becoming free. That's enough right there to qualify as a community.

So the common interest can be the situation you are in.

  • Being in a community doesn't necessarily mean everyone will be the same in EVERY aspect. No such community exists like that. That's because every community is based on individuals who have various differences. By your own definition a community is defined as "...sharing a common interest". In this case that shared common interest is history (among other things). Thetogette's comment was on point.

  • Your missing the point, that still doesn't make all African descended people the same. We all don't have the same history if you were to study deep. What the heck makes a sub-Saharan African have the same history as an Egyptian or an Ethiopian? Come on, think about it!........

  • No YOU'RE missing the point. All enslaved Africans (wherever their homeland in Africa was) had something in common in America and now their descendants do. That factor is what creates a community. They DID NOT have to be the SAME. They were in the SAME boat, just as many of their descendants are in now. YOU think about.

  • Please listen!! Being enslaved is not enough to unify a group of mixed strangers. U know why? Like I said if you study history u would know. Reason is because Slaves in America were from west Africa. THIS SIMPLE FACT EXCLUDES THE REST!!! No all are not in the same boat. Some live good in America. What else can we try to see for any commonality. Bloodlines, NO, culture, NO,spiritual belief HELL NO!!!!

  • @1OriginalQueen: So how can a community form if we are not alike,or have a common BOND!!!?? Hmmmm!! Just think about the word Unity, united, UNI......it means ONE!!!! So we cannot unify in a community if we are not ONE!! In order to be one we must be the same, ALIKE!! Its really quite a simple logic lol. OK your majesty, are we done here LOL!!!!

  • Apparently you are not listening so this is my last post. We DO have a common bond. You are wrong. Being enslaved IS enough to unify a group of mixed strangers. Other differences may later divide them, but the racial hatred based on their skin color is a UNIFIER. Whether you live good in America or not - if you believe that you are discriminated against because of your color you have something in common. What is living good? That's a relative term. Some people in the hood think they live good.

  • Oh PLEASE!! You keep talking about slavery. ALL AFRICANS WERE NOT ENSLAVED BY WHITE EUROPEANS!! Even if that were true that still doesn't defeat the fact about genetic and cultural differences. lol when has being enslaved been a ''good'' unifier? Even if people were to come together and bond because of slavery, how would they form families if there not attracted to one another because of genetic differences and practice different cultures? It can't happen.

  • @1NaturalQueen: The effect of this would be conflict, like what is going on as I am typing this. Like I said before, do all Africans get along? NO! Africans are killing Africans! It is in our genes to seek out what is like ourselves for many reasons. And all Blks in America don't share the same likeness. LOL I know this is not going to be your last response haha!

  • To finish my final posting - I have studied history (got a master's degree), but this is COMMON SENSE. If you and I were kidnapped and taken to another land and viewed by our oppressors as animals. We then have something in common. We want freedom (unless you are comfortable being enslaved). We wouldn't get into discussions about our idealistic opinioins and so forth. NO! We are UNIFYING to change OUR common condition. We are not the same but we have a common problem. Why can't you see that?

  • im wondering where my earlier post is...

  • ur history. b/c obviously you have a very eurocentric p.o.v. on things and when the revolution is fought I wonder what side you will be standing on. im done!educate urself

  • Regarding the differences, what has worked for me is the realisation that we don't have to like each other, but we do have to take care of each other.

  • Comment removed

  • cant get ahead.

  • well i disagree with you because we ARE connected as a people. The only reason y we view ourselves as different is because that what the enemy wants, us as a people to be divided by religion, light skin dark skin, poor or rich, gangs, all of it!!No matter how much we say we are genetically different, we are looked at as black and disriminated against. We are ALL descendants of the motherland, the richest continent and NONE of us own a damn thing. Youre playing into the white mans trap and thats y we

  • O.....K, How the heck are we connected? I already explained what makes a people a people. Do all Africans look the same!? Do all Africans have the same beliefs and culture!!? NO, THEY DON'T!! Africa is not just one big happy continent. There are "COUNTRIES" in Africa. You have Africans killing other Africans, is that what brothers and sisters do to each other? Honestly, you have to let go of that old failing Ideology.Or live will leave you behind.

  • That said, each of us have to participate in existing projects in our local communities or in communities that are mainly black, to help with any problem that the community faces. Wether it is drop out of school or difficulty finding a job. In Quebec (Canada), blacks have a level of education that is slightly higher than the total polulation. Our unemployment rate is twice the rate of the population. How about that ?

  • Black people from african descent have this in common : An experience of discrinimation and racism that directly or indirectly affects us. That exprerience comes from our history with white people who dominate the world ( even if Obama is president and even if things are getting better over time). We have in common a history that has been manipulated to make us and everybody believe that we are not as intelluectually able as other races. The world believes we are less than..

  • Something made you notice, register and respond to a video aimed at so-called Black people.

    What was it?

  • What do you mean? Do you want to know why I made this video response?

  • Yes, but I dont want the reason that you gave in your video, I want the reason why it was important to you to share it.

  • umm i dont understand your overall point. Are you saying that we as African people are connected or not? Just tryin to understand you.

  • My point is AA or AE people cannot come together to solve anything as of now because we are all NOT THE SAME!! Not the same genetically, culturally, or spiritually. So before solving any problems in the ''Black community'' we have to identify ourselves to see if the "PROBLEMS" even concern us.
