Just look at pac's neck will show you that he can take a punch well. Thick necks usually mean you can absorb the punches better then a thin neck person just like guys with bigger calfs can generate stronger punches!!

You did a pretty good job, but of course as we all now know...Pacquiao took Cotto's best shot and barely winced. Pacquaio's chin is somehow better now than when he was in a lighter division. I also disagree about Manny's punching power...Manny can be off balanced and still knock people out, he doesn't have to put his weight into it. He just has "heavy hands" naturally. But you did a good job in your prediction though. Props!

I agree on your analysis. cotto is a technical fighter, the flow of his fighting skills are almost for the heavy weight bouts. his a kind of fighter that is sure of his punches but lack of speed, need to say pacman is more of a hybrid boxer( combination of sugar ray leonard and roberto duran) i havent seen a boxer who is a slugger and at the same time technical one. the speed and the power punch is overwhelming. so my prediction cotto losses air in the 4th round, knockout on the 6th round.

Hi, I agree with your analysis, most of that, Manny Pacquiao has Left and Right same power punch so what ever arms he throw left or right are effective to knock out his opponent while his oponent used only one arm. That is the most important for Pacquioa. It was tested that his left/right arms has the same punch power.

Manny is probably the fastest champion in boxing today. Cotto's timing, specifically his jab, is very effective against fighters who don't really have much head movement. That's how he beat Sugar Shane. Cotto is not known for speed, but his awesome balance of both finesse and power. Regardless, Oscar looked pretty lumped up for those 7 completed rounds. Just think what he would have looked like if he tried to survive 5 more rounds. Given Oscar was dehydrated and weak that night, I am easily giving Manny the benefit of the doubt that he would have KO'd Oscar (again, given Oscar's condition).

You know, Teddy Atlas, legendary trainer and now commentator stated that power can transcend any weight division. If you have it as a Flyweight, you'll have it as a Middleweight. 1. Speed is physical. The other speed you're talking about, it's actualy "Accuracy". The manner of getting the right timing and actualy hitting right on the spot is Accuracy.
2. Yes rounding up all the momentum and stuff, it's actualy way more than the boxer's weight. For example, a slap generates around 300 G's(from my research) instantaneously, where a punch is way more.
Absolutely, physics does state that a punch can have the momentum to deliver a hit equivalent to a car hitting a wall at 35mph! hehe. Imagine what Hatton felt right before round 3 was over..
As for your description on "Accuracy", you're right. In addition to timing, it's the Boxer's creativity and imagination that will seperate him from the rest of the fighters. Consider all the greats: Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tyson, Mayweather, Pacman...all creative fighters with limitless imaginations.
Round 9: the PR welterweight projects power, power jabs made the southpaw backpedaled.
Pac uses footwork again. forward-back and unleash 3 combo attack. Straight left landed well to the welterweight king made him wobbly then Pac unleash the 7 punch combo in under 3 seconds, Cotto wears down against the rope trying to escape. Finally, Pac followed him with a big straight left to the chin as Cotto escapes along side the ropes. Cotto goes down, tried to get back up but referee ends the fight.

Just look at pac's neck will show you that he can take a punch well. Thick necks usually mean you can absorb the punches better then a thin neck person just like guys with bigger calfs can generate stronger punches!!

You did a pretty good job, but of course as we all now know...Pacquiao took Cotto's best shot and barely winced. Pacquaio's chin is somehow better now than when he was in a lighter division. I also disagree about Manny's punching power...Manny can be off balanced and still knock people out, he doesn't have to put his weight into it. He just has "heavy hands" naturally. But you did a good job in your prediction though. Props!

This chin is a combination of having strong legs, as well as having good vision in seeing punches coming at him. Anyone can get knocked out when they don't see the punch coming, especially from below that jukes the jaw sideways and turns the head.

i like your comments very much. Especially about the timing in each fighter's arsenal. I beleive the timing will play in Cottos hands more so than Manny. i think sometime early in the fight , Mann yis going to test the waters and come in on miguel but if cotro times him correctly with his jab he can send pacman back to the philipines to help out with their tsunami disaster.

I agree on your analysis. cotto is a technical fighter, the flow of his fighting skills are almost for the heavy weight bouts. his a kind of fighter that is sure of his punches but lack of speed, need to say pacman is more of a hybrid boxer( combination of sugar ray leonard and roberto duran) i havent seen a boxer who is a slugger and at the same time technical one. the speed and the power punch is overwhelming. so my prediction cotto losses air in the 4th round, knockout on the 6th round.

Hi, I agree with your analysis, most of that, Manny Pacquiao has Left and Right same power punch so what ever arms he throw left or right are effective to knock out his opponent while his oponent used only one arm. dude your analysis is pretty good...but your voice recorder is better. One thing that I disagree is when you say..."not the fastest physical speed but his timing is very fast"...then what is or who has the fastest physical speed. Pacquaio is like going 100 mph while others are like going say 40 mph. In conclusion I don't discount Cotto. But Pacquiao by TKO in the late rounds.

Manny is probably the fastest champion in boxing today. Cotto's timing, specifically his jab, is very effective against fighters who don't really have much head movement. That's how he beat Sugar Shane. Cotto is not known for speed, but his awesome balance of both finesse and power. The more I think of it, I'm thinking Cotto will get knocked out before the end of Round 5. Wow, I am really convincing myself! lol

Pac can throw series of punches in different directions, very unpredictable, very hard for boxers to anticipate. If Pac keeps Cotto second guessing where he will throw the next punch, PAC will WIN.
Cotto needs a good trainer ( he does'nt have one ) to see and neutralize Pac's strategy during the fight.. Big disadvantage on Cotto's corner. Pac TKO in 5th round.

Hey, you do have a point about Nacho telling Oscar that Manny's "just too fast". I do remember him saying that. So yes, maybe Manny could have KO's or could not have KO'd. Regardless, Oscar looked pretty lumped up for those 7 completed rounds. Just think what he would have looked like if he tried to survive 5 more rounds. Given Oscar was dehydrated and weak that night, I am easily giving Manny the benefit of the doubt that he would have KO'd Oscar (again, given Oscar's condition).

When he did grabbed the ropes.. Oscar had just finish getting an IV to try to hydrate again, and it was to late, u try getting balance while a guy is punching u for 8 rds. Well, I'll tell you, I agree that Oscar is one tough fighter! It took a much bigger opponent like Hopkins to fold up Oscar with a nasty liver shot. Props to Delahoya but I would have liked to see him finish the fight.

Yeah, I used to get that twinkle in the eye when I talked about Cotto. But ever since Pacman showed his ring intelligence against Morales, I am now a Pacman believer. Again, Cotto can totally win, if Manny over-extends, but given his ring smarts...Cotto will be the underdog in this fight.

in the round to round analysis, you someone here said manny will do 7 combos in 3 seconds, i think you're wrong. I've seen him do 5 Combo in in less than a second, 7 punches should be less than 2 seconds. damn, try blocking that in every angles.

nice analysis. in addition, cotto needs to corner his opponents in order to knock them out. i dont think he can put manny in the corner.
manny on the other side can fight in any angles in the ring. he has speed, timing and power too. thats why he put down porter twice in the 2nd round with headgear.

I was in Baguio and i saw Pacman trains by Roach strategies and what i noticed is Roach is giving Manny's instructions like right hook then Cotto open his right to counter punch but by the time Cotto land his right punch Manny will be the first to land his killer left hook punch or upper cut to finish the game. Right hook followed by Jeet Kune Do left hook killer punch!!! Guaranteed! I will bet 3000 dollars to Manny to win. 5 rounds KO.

speed equals power if you have good accuracy with the amount of malitute of speed punches coming along with delivering power at the same time can hurt somebody.manny has speed in both hands and power with both hands.but manny is definetly a different fighter now then he was in his early career ill tell you that right now he is definetly a complete fighter who is only getting better.this is a great fight to see cannot wait to see manny vs miguel

You know, Teddy Atlas, legendary trainer and now commentator stated that power can transcend any weight division. If you have it as a Flyweight, you'll have it as a Middleweight. That's why we will never see Mayweather as a powerpuncher. We never saw it as a lightweight, we'll never see it as a Welterweight either. Manny, on the other hand, we will see this brother knockin people out in every weight class he steps in. Very interesting comment from Teddy Atlas.

Wow probably best commentary i've seen here in youtube. I have some things to share though..
1. Speed is physical. The other speed you're talking about, it's actualy "Accuracy". The manner of getting the right timing and actualy hitting right on the spot is Accuracy.
2. Yes rounding up all the momentum and stuff, it's actualy way more than the boxer's weight. For example, a slap generates around 300 G's(from my research) instantaneously, where a punch is way more.

Absolutely, physics does state that a punch can have the momentum to deliver a hit equivalent to a car hitting a wall at 35mph! hehe. Imagine what Hatton felt right before round 3 was over..
As for your description on "Accuracy", you're right. In addition to timing, it's the Boxer's creativity and imagination that will seperate him from the rest of the fighters. Consider all the greats: Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tyson, Mayweather, Pacman...all creative fighters with limitless imaginations.

Round 9: the PR welterweight projects power, power jabs made the southpaw backpedaled.
Pac uses footwork again. forward-back and unleash 3 combo attack. Straight left landed well to the welterweight king made him wobbly then Pac unleash the 7 punch combo in under 3 seconds, Cotto wears down against the rope trying to escape. Finally, Pac followed him with a big straight left to the chin as Cotto escapes along side the ropes. Cotto goes down, tried to get back up but referee ends the fight.

Round 7: As blood drips from Cotto's face he remains brave as a warrior. Cotto wants to trade punches with Manny toe to toe, Manny fires back then move side ways. Cotto 's coming forward, left to body, but Pac has to absorb the punch to minimize the effect, the southpaw has to pivot his body right forward to distract the angle.
Round 8: Cotto wears down. This is where the Southpaw unleash its art of attack, 3 combos, defense and keep more coming, Cotto covers face with gloves front. Manny hooks

Round 5: slight bruise are visible from both fighters from jabs, Still Manny throws the snappy left jabs but moves lateral. Cotto throws a succesful jab, Manny gets into the rhythm again and do the jab,jab, cross-left, R uppercut, croos L. Cotto throws left hook to the body, left hook to the head and straight Right hand. Same style as he did to Branco and Clottey against the rope.
Round 6: Manny's flury combos opens the previous wound on Cotto's left brows, blood drips.

Round 2: Here is where the game plan is laid. Cotto puts pressure and chase Manny. Manny is waiting for the right moment, creating some opening.
Round 3: Manny's attack is becoming more prominent, he attacks when being attack, throwing speed power combos.
Round 4: Cotto's trying to cut the ring, hoping that Manny will get trap so he can execute his power liver shots

You should be a coach! Great analysis on both fighters. One thing Cotto will hit his power shots in those twelve rounds. Pacquiao will also hit a lot more. So, who ever can stand the punches wins. Cotto's rocket punches or Pacquiao's machine gun punches. It's going to be a war!

Agreed. But don't forget what was said by Manny's sparring partners, that Manny hits harder than Marguerito (even with the plastic inserts). So we can ask the same question, "Can Cotto handle Manny's power"? This question has been continually answered by Manny's opponents. Manny has that underestimated power that hides behind his speed. It's a deadly combination. He now has speed, power, defense, and imagination.....but, Cotto definitely can win. That's just Boxing. I love it.
