I really could go on. The Dreamcast was WAY ahead of its time and was, I believe, the best console of that generation. Goldeneye on its own isn't a good enough reason to say N64 was better.

Think they just couldn't meet a certain sales threshold. Sega wasn't doing great financially and figured they had to sell x amount of DC's in order to achieve profitability. They weren't billionaires like Microsoft that could keep eating their losses. Nor were they as financially stable as Nintendo that only ended the Virtual Boy early & had a massive war chest from the NES/SNES/GB. If only they hadn't cut support for the Saturn so soon they might have been in better shape.

Never played this but the games look far ahead of it´s time. I couldn´t make a ROM game work on a simulator though. You needed the cd-rom. Then I bought one and it didn´t work on my PC. I guess one day I will buy an old one.

This is how sega can get back in buisness = Make a console that is backwardscompatible with all sega games released (genesis, sega cd, saturn, dreamcast) so all your favourite oldschool games could be played on 1 system. And then they should upgrade it with the newest hardware, so they can make new games aswell - Shenmue3, jet grind radio 2, sonic adventure 3 and so on, last but not least a new and cool color VMU - if they ever realesed something like this, i would pay whatever it takes :D

Dreamcast died way before its time; it was a lovely console to play and 3rd parties who developed for it loved the architecture. The sheer quality of the games released for it was phenomenal.
What killed it? Sony lying through their teeth! "Our PS2 has 50+million Polygons!" My ass! The PS2 couldn't do anything near that number (which they later admitted). Indeed, Quake 3 Looked BETTER on DC!

And Quake on PS2 was a depressingly lazy port, along with a few other Dreamcast titles that were ported to the system. When exclusive games were developed for the PS2 from the ground up, it showed. Why do you think the PS3 gets bad ports of 360 games? The Saturn, PS2 and PS3 have all been notoriously difficult to program for.

I actually bought a Dreamcast over the summer this year. While I don't yet have Sonic Adventure or Crazy Taxi, (Both are really hard to find) I do have Virtua Fighter 3tb, and love this console!
Sonic Adventure is one of the greatest games of all time. I used to love raising the Chao babies between my VMU and the console. Dreamcast and the VMU system was so ahead of its time. I wish consoles had VMU style systems today. Imagine what could be done with today's technology.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, dumbass. The NFL license was picked up by EA after the release of 2K5 in 2004. NFL 2K1 was released in the year 2000 and it was only available on one system (Dreamcast), it only sold 1.09 Million copies (though pretty good for one system). Madden was available on N64, PS2, PS1 and PC, plus a few handheld systems. It sold about 4.5 million copies. Last I checked, 4.5 million is WAY larger than 1.09 million.
@AllPro777 What claim would that be,that 2K while it was out would end up getting more praise and rivaling Madden both in sales and critical response there have been plenty of reviews and ones talking about the history of the Dreamcast that mentioned that including PlayValue.It was able to do that plus as you stated almost sold as many copies on 1 system that had less units sold in a couple of years while Madden had been around for awhile,says abit about the series does in it.It was just as good

I had a Dreamcast as a little kid. Besides Sonic Adventure, one game that I loved was Fur Fighters. Terrible controls, but a game I loved as a kid. Good thing I still have it.
PlayStation2 and DreamCast are both great, but i feel a bit sad for Sega that their console died that fast, they just started the generation in the wrong time.

the DC could've easily gone head to head against the PS2 and Xbox for many years, but Sega unfortunately didn't have the cash to keep up with the manufacturing and marketing costs. At least nowhere near the kind of funds that Sony and Microsoft had for their respective consoles. Such a shame too, as it was a sick piece of hardware!
The Dreamcast was the only Sega console I purchased. I bought it on day one and it remains one of my favorite consoles, even though I have a XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii.

I actually bought a Dreamcast over the summer this year. While I don't yet have Sonic Adventure or Crazy Taxi, (Both are really hard to find) I do have Virtua Fighter 3tb, and love this console!

Sonic Adventure is one of the greatest games of all time. I used to love raising the Chao babies between my VMU and the console. Dreamcast and the VMU system was so ahead of its time. I wish consoles had VMU style systems today. Imagine what could be done with today's technology.

And the Saturn pad was indeed a beast for Street Fighter, it only there was a way I could use it to play SF3 on Dreamcast. =(

@strykah92 That i have absolutely no idea. But i think that in general, 4 buttons and a couple of triggers work better than 6. And if you combine them (6+triggers) it starts getting confusing.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, dumbass. The NFL license was picked up by EA after the release of 2K5 in 2004. NFL 2K1 was released in the year 2000 and it was only available on one system (Dreamcast), it only sold 1.09 Million copies (though pretty good for one system). Madden was available on N64, PS2, PS1 and PC, plus a few handheld systems. It sold about 4.5 million copies. Last I checked, 4.5 million is WAY larger than 1.09 million.

@AllPro777 What claim would that be,that 2K while it was out would end up getting more praise and rivaling Madden both in sales and critical response there have been plenty of reviews and ones talking about the history of the Dreamcast that mentioned that including PlayValue.It was able to do that plus as you stated almost sold as many copies on 1 system that had less units sold in a couple of years while Madden had been around for awhile,says abit about the series does in it.It was just as good

You're preaching to the choir though. I've always felt that 2K football was head and shoulders above Madden in almost every way. Look at my username, it's named after All-Pro Football 2K8. Madden is a joke, a joke that isn't even funny anymore. It makes me angry that 2K is not still in the game, but they've decided not to keep making football games after APF 2K8.
P.S. My comment about "JESSIEEDSELL21" was in regards to him saying it outsold Madden, which is untrue.

I allways thought the 2K series played better and was more fluid than the Madden series. It felt like an arcade game, and that was great because you could pick it up and play.

the DC could've easily gone head to head against the PS2 and Xbox for many years, but Sega unfortunately didn't have the cash to keep up with the manufacturing and marketing costs. At least nowhere near the kind of funds that Sony and Microsoft had for their respective consoles. Such a shame too, as it was a sick piece of hardware!
