Far Cry 2 is alright; the time when i have to take a pill to battle the malaria happens at the worst possible fucking time. If you don't take it, you die. I don't think it was neccessary. Other than that, Far cry 2 is pretty good.
Except, every intersection you drive pass there are people shooting at you, then they'll chase you, you have to jump into the turret so on, when thats done you have to repair you're vehicle, good game, but some parts are annoying.
but if you have far cry 2, please let me know if it lives up to the hype, as i am dying to play it.

i'll buy crysis when i get a new graphics card, and enjoy the physics and grapics. But for a good game, i just bought Far Cry 2 Limited Edition. They have created a new story model not seen in any game before, and a few cool things crysis didn't come up with, while taking things like 24h day cycle.
If you set fire to a bush, the fire continues to spread until it reaches buildings and barrels, which then causes explosions. I'm more impressed with this atm. Whats your opinion on far cry 2?
i just started far cry 2, and i think it definitely a game a will buy, even though i already have a copy. it seems awesome, absolutely awesome. i have encountered a couple of glitches (mostly with the controls, as i dont use WASD), and im not sure how the whole "malaria" thing will play out. but, all in all, so far so good. better than crysis, and seems at least as good as the best bits of far cry. also it isnt as demanding as crysis. my system seems to run it fine, i may even turn things up ;)
well, you dont need crysis at max, but you have to have at least half the settings on high, or the rocks and bushes jump out of the draw distance at about 50 metres. it ran fine on my peice of shit pc, with everything on mid-high. shame the game was shit, cos it had loads of potential.
far cry 2, as far as i can see, is absolutely AWESOME. i played for "five minutes", yesterday, and then didnt get to bed till 5a.m. thats a great game when you lose track of time like that

you never seen the ATi tech demo for far cry did you? It replicates that fairly well.
Everything else seems to match up. The story of farcry is he's taking a woman in to take pictures, and they blow up his boat and he is trapped. So this movie is the exact same.
that wasnt far cry though, that was a cryengine tech demo, thats all. if this is based on that, fair enough, but if its called far cry it should have shitty trigens, not shitty super soldiers. and the woman wasnt going to take pics in game she was CIA and was trying to take out the doctor and his scheme, not just take pics. she seems to be a reporter in this, which is also wrong.
if its called far cry it should be about far cry, not a 5 min tech demo for an engine
on the Xbox version they show more about the trigens are created.. or in essense, a more successful version of the project. You the character are attacked and slowly become a trigen like creature, but the change is slow. So you have several abilities much like in Crysis that the human soldiers do not have. I don't know enough about the xbox far cry to know how you turn out in the end.
Apparently this movie is released this month in germany. Looks good for a watch, lets hope it makes it here.
i would have thought the console versions wouldnt count. i never consider them when i think of far cry, as it is a pc only title. the console versions, as far as i have heard, are absolute rubbish. (not to say the pc version was great after the trigens showed up, but the console versions were just cheap knock-offs to make quick money by ubisoft.)
by the time the console versions were being made the original dev team had already left ubisoft and started work on crysis

yes, but at the time of release there was NO pc capable of running far cry at full settings. just like with crysis now. crytek are just pricks for this i think, they should realise that graphics arent everything (not even all that important in my opinion), and when you put shitty things in games with great human AI combat, like trigens and alines, that just jump around and float around, with no actual tactical combat, the game will get slated. yet crysis and far cry both scored over 90% on pc
it was for technical achievement really. It was unlike any other fps, for range of combat, physics, water effects.
Not better than HL2 but to appear from no where it was really impressive.
And the graphics weren't considerably better with completely maxxed settings in FarCry. In Crysis however its a completely different story. Very High looks unbelieavable.
One thing i really liked in farcry was the updates, they added HDR and 3Dc later on. I think more games should do this.
but they still release games that are far beyond what the average gamer can afford to run.
it wil be another year, at least, before i have a system capable of max settings on crysis, with a decent res.
and to say they charge full price for a game when they dont even really give a shit if it is actually any good, just shows why people often turn to piracy.
i wont buy another crytek game until i have played a copy first, i felt robbed by crysis, as, after you went into the ship, it was just shit

im sure you know what i mean? graphics are good enough now that even the worst looks very good, so devs should concentrate on gameplay

i'll buy crysis when i get a new graphics card, and enjoy the physics and grapics. But for a good game, i just bought Far Cry 2 Limited Edition. They have created a new story model not seen in any game before, and a few cool things crysis didn't come up with, while taking things like 24h day cycle.
If you set fire to a bush, the fire continues to spread until it reaches buildings and barrels, which then causes explosions. I'm more impressed with this atm. Whats your opinion on far cry 2?

i just started far cry 2, and i think it definitely a game a will buy, even though i already have a copy. it seems awesome, absolutely awesome. i have encountered a couple of glitches (mostly with the controls, as i dont use WASD), and im not sure how the whole "malaria" thing will play out. but, all in all, so far so good. better than crysis, and seems at least as good as the best bits of far cry. also it isnt as demanding as crysis. my system seems to run it fine, i may even turn things up ;)

i think with crysis u constantly want to max it out or it doesn't look good enough. It wasn't made to run at medium and thats obvious.
Far Cry 2 looks good with the settings down, and thats on direct x9 i played it.
I'm impressed with the dynamic story of it so far, going to play some more now i think.
Btw if you do buy the game, get the collectors edition.
Comes in a wooden box with a free tshirt, making of dvd, artbook, and realistic looking map. i got the tshirt on right now lol.

well, you dont need crysis at max, but you have to have at least half the settings on high, or the rocks and bushes jump out of the draw distance at about 50 metres. it ran fine on my peice of shit pc, with everything on mid-high. shame the game was shit, cos it had loads of potential.
far cry 2, as far as i can see, is absolutely AWESOME. i played for "five minutes", yesterday, and then didnt get to bed till 5a.m. thats a great game when you lose track of time like that

i know what you mean lol :D Even getting killed in far cry 2 is awesome lol. One of your buddies wakes you up and carries you while firing at the enemies.
Also i blew up a car for the first time and the fire wouldnt stop spreading through the grass lol Awesome :D

you never seen the ATi tech demo for far cry did you? It replicates that fairly well.
Everything else seems to match up. The story of farcry is he's taking a woman in to take pictures, and they blow up his boat and he is trapped. So this movie is the exact same.

oh, yeah, i remember.
that wasnt far cry though, that was a cryengine tech demo, thats all. if this is based on that, fair enough, but if its called far cry it should have shitty trigens, not shitty super soldiers. and the woman wasnt going to take pics in game she was CIA and was trying to take out the doctor and his scheme, not just take pics. she seems to be a reporter in this, which is also wrong.
if its called far cry it should be about far cry, not a 5 min tech demo for an engine

on the Xbox version they show more about the trigens are created.. or in essense, a more successful version of the project. You the character are attacked and slowly become a trigen like creature, but the change is slow. So you have several abilities much like in Crysis that the human soldiers do not have. I don't know enough about the xbox far cry to know how you turn out in the end.
Apparently this movie is released this month in germany. Looks good for a watch, lets hope it makes it here.

i would have thought the console versions wouldnt count. i never consider them when i think of far cry, as it is a pc only title. the console versions, as far as i have heard, are absolute rubbish. (not to say the pc version was great after the trigens showed up, but the console versions were just cheap knock-offs to make quick money by ubisoft.)
by the time the console versions were being made the original dev team had already left ubisoft and started work on crysis

i agree but i did enjoy the console versions when i tried them out.
However, if i was making a movie it wouldnt matter to me if i was following one platform or all of them for the story, just whatever worked best in a film. Cos alot of people hated far cry on the pc, it was good graphics and that was it (altho alot who hated it had slow pc's ;) )

yes, but at the time of release there was NO pc capable of running far cry at full settings. just like with crysis now. crytek are just pricks for this i think, they should realise that graphics arent everything (not even all that important in my opinion), and when you put shitty things in games with great human AI combat, like trigens and alines, that just jump around and float around, with no actual tactical combat, the game will get slated. yet crysis and far cry both scored over 90% on pc

it was for technical achievement really. It was unlike any other fps, for range of combat, physics, water effects.
Not better than HL2 but to appear from no where it was really impressive.
And the graphics weren't considerably better with completely maxxed settings in FarCry. In Crysis however its a completely different story. Very High looks unbelieavable.
One thing i really liked in farcry was the updates, they added HDR and 3Dc later on. I think more games should do this.

but they still release games that are far beyond what the average gamer can afford to run.
it wil be another year, at least, before i have a system capable of max settings on crysis, with a decent res.
and to say they charge full price for a game when they dont even really give a shit if it is actually any good, just shows why people often turn to piracy.
i wont buy another crytek game until i have played a copy first, i felt robbed by crysis, as, after you went into the ship, it was just shit
