Peter Hammill est l'un des grands compositeurs de l'histoire du rock : V.D.G.G. et en solo. A une certaine époque (album : Over), il m'a sauvé la vie. For me, P. Hammill is God... Respect & admiration....
Una de las obras maestras de Peter Hammill. Tristeza, rabia, desesperación se conjugan en este tema tan hermoso y emotivo. Un tema tan eterno... como la muerte.

what a comment! I wholeheartedly agree with the first part but i have to strongly decry the validity of the second, Guy Evans is a truly great drummer and the evidence of this is in all VDGG's records as well as the legion live performances featured on youtube. You are mistaken.
This wonderful song is from my first experience of VDGG . I heard "Still Life" first in 1976. I've been in thrall ever since. The best music, lyrics and attitude in all of modern music. Halls of Fame are not sufficient . . .this is art of the very highest order . . .
Its turning out to be something of a VDGG golden age...Jaxon meanwhile has been working with the other forgotten hero...Nic Potter and low and behold a new live CD is about to be realeased...look out nic's site.
Astonishing! Peter Hammill & co. should write a book about how to grow old and keep the voice, the attitude, the will... Many a rock star would do well reading that book. Amazing performance of this great song.
Though broadcasted by RomaUno, this is VdGG at Umbertide, Umbria. They finished with this beautiful Still Life and as the lights turned on, I went wandering by the small town unable to believe what I had seen. Thank you so much for the post

Guy Evans is one of rock's great drummers, great jazz drummer too, along with Palmer one of a few with conventional grip

Cavolo, Peter Hammill è davvero inarrestabile anche alla sua età.. E mi fa piacere che venga spesso in Italia a suonare, cosa che in pochi fanno.

Sex/Death same thing.
When I first heard this song, Sex was more of a threat than death.
