@29razorbock29 this is why you don't buy from the top name brands. since they have a good reputation and a large following, they couldn't give a fuck if a small percentage in a line of products fail after short term use.
MrJoemumford = maltyful, same guy who has been posting the same message on every samsung tv video clip. letz put our hands together for his time & effort to insult samsung!! hooray!!

As of now, the bigger they get in screen size, the shorter the life span, so there is still work to be done. Also the screen sizes are compressed so much that it won't matter if they don't support 1080p, the picture will be fantastic. But they really do need to add 1080p support cause people who buy these tv's are more than likely going to be using Blu ray players
"Since OLEDs can be printed onto any suitable substrate using an inkjet printer or even screen printing technologies,[42] they can theoretically have a significantly lower cost than LCDs or plasma displays" -wiki
u have to give the marketing people for confusion people with led technology....saying led hd tv is led tv is like saying a prius is really a "green" car..
Still won't keep pace with my 56" Panny CRT... 5 yrs old and re tuned once and looks better than it did new, OLED may look pretty but they don't have a great lifespan. Wait for FED (or SED) TV, all the attributes of a high-end CRT set but only an inch thick tube display, they look even better than OLED
Wheres it all going to end, its not worth buying a tv atm, the market wants to make its mind up. Once youve baught something it'l be outdated in six months. I feel sorry for peops who baught hd ready tv's before they started to put hdcp on them. So the futures not plasma or lcd. Im just going to have to stick with my lcd. The led ones do looks better, but whats the point, ive heard talks of 3d television and cordless television. Should make tvs with easy access to update.
Stupid person. Natural colours because of organic material. Never had such techno joke by a smart pants marketing idiot.
People here keep ranting that LED TV not possible. People shouldn't express their opinions if they don't know about subject and technology. Please do some search for OLED topics on internet. OLED tv are possible. This is not the LED backlit TV as in Samsung 7000 or 8000 series.
LED tv is not really led tv....it's just LCD with LED backlighting instead of using traditional florescence light...it's a marketing ploy....REAL LED TV is not possible in a regular TV...
Not to mention it also displays true black unlike its lcd/plasma counterpart. Lcd never fully blocks the back light in darker colours. Usually giving a dull washed out feel. When led shows black, no light is being emitted, therefore True black unlike any other tv to date!
Since the advent of the Blue LED, I knew it was only a matter of time before a Tricolored multi cathode LED would be created, and LED tvs would be a reality, I said this to a teacher back in 1998 but he laughed and said theyd only be used in big venues like ball games and stadiums, for a while I thought he was right, especially when we started seeing them pop up in stadiums. Now, I'm very happy and for 3 grand anyone can own a large screen LED HDTV. Go technology!
I think hes trying to play on the Be Green trend among the Yuppies, simply because the people who bought into the LCD and DLP technology won't want to buy a NEW 3,000$ television so soon after theirs unless there is more to it then getting "a good picture"
The contrast ratio is phenomenal, because black is true black (off is off and not a mirror turned away from light or no signal to a still backlit LCD pixel) it dose prove to be the best technology in video, it has 40% less power usage too.
It seems all people see when they think of 'the future' is making things thinner hahaha. Ok so they've gotten the world's thinnest TV now what are they gonna improve? run out of ideas huh? xD
Just came back from Best Buy today and saw the led tv's for the first and I did not know what to make of what I was looking at. The colors were so rich it damn near looked fake.
I'm supposed to trust info about OLED displays from a guy who claims that "What your looking at is the future of LCD TVs". Does this guy even know the difference between a Liquid Crystal and a Light Emitting Diode?
You are wrong because LCD is the mask used on panels and LEDs are the light sources. Therefore a LED TV is a LCD TV using Diodes instead of Flourcent Lamps for backlighting. They are both using LCD technology for masking. What they differ is the light source.
No, it is a matrix of 3 different colored Organic Light Emitting Diodes clustered in triplet sets to form Pixels. They need no mask. This is why they can be made flexible. Why would you need Red, Green and Blue elements to make white light behind an LCD?
You are confusing this technology with Samsung's LED backlight they currently market, which uses traditional LEDs.
Well since my comment was about THIS video, which is about Samsung's OLED technology, I assumed, apparently in error, that it would be understood that I was talking about the Light Emitting Diodes in the OLED he was demonstrating in the video. Silly me...
Lol, the guy you're responding to is wrong, he's aware of it, and is just back pedaling to save his ego. Youtube comments are full of people like that.
He mentioned OLEDs in the same post that you were responding to. Don't try to back pedal, just admit that you don't know any better than he does. It's really pathetic how some people try to save their ego on youtube.
I had 2 Samsung LCD and they're NOT reliable! First one had no sound on analog channels from day 1 -- Samsung tech had to come out to verify it, then ordered the part, then came out again - they don't just give you a new tv. 2nd Samsung's power supply died after a year and costs $450 to fix. In contrast, my 3 Sony LCD tvs have be trouble-free and they're over a year old. Life's too short for unreliable products!
Sorry, last TV I bought was a Samsung. Had to replace it 3 times during the 12 mos of warranty, then found out they revoked the extended warranty on the model. Not buying another one.
OLED is amazingly clear but so far it is an expensive technology that can't be readily spread and purchased by many people. I think that is why Samsung has introduced LED TV which is amazingly clear and stunning as well. LOVE SAMSUNG
yea we just got the luxia series in at bestbuy a couple weeks ago and they are amazing. 40% more energy efficient than traditional cold cathode lcd, yet stunning picture contrast at over 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. and literally paper thin. its like a 52in ipod touch. stoked
I know right? I'm gonna wait til they have a 240Hz LED TV by the end of the year to buy one. Gives me time to save, ya know? Then I have to find a way to get rid of my LCD TV after.
But that is dynamic contrast, not 'true' contrast range. The 9 series relies on multiple led backlights, a step up for LCD technology, but still causing a glow like effect around small bright areas. OLED has vastly superier per-pixel true contrast.
I see Samsung LED LCD out right now....this is all getting way too confusing. When is an OLED going to come out? Is an LED LCD TV the same as an OLED TV?
LED LCD TV is just a television that has LEDs as the backlight for the LCD TV instead of fluorescent bulbs. OLED televisions, use organic compounds to produce the picture, and requires no backlight at all.
I don't care if this TV is the best picture in the world, there is no 11 inch TV that is worth $2,500. What they don't tell you is it burns out in 14,000 hours, which if it's on 6 hours a day, it only lasts 6 years. Everybody go eat up the eco craze and I'm going to spend money on a wasteful high emission emitting car because this is just another brilliant marketing ploy to win over your hearts and steal your money
I wouldn't waste a dime on any LCD, when their motion/response time and not to mention color just cant match a CRT, although blacks arent really an issue anymore if you're buying one of the new LED LCDs. anyways, the only tech that can almost match crt is LaserVue(for now) but the smallest size is currently 65" and it goes for $6999 ;o....For now, i'm sticking with my CRT...But it will be interesting to see what rolls out in march for the new HDTV line up..also, i wonder how OLED handles motion
Oled have a refresh rate of 0.02ms. MUCH faster than a high end CRT (<1ms). They can also achieve a one million to one contrast ratio. They are currently the best display technology. CRT, LCD, Plasma or Laser do not come close.
Well Organic LED's have been tooted for a while, unlike Apple keynotes thee technology is never delivered for a long time. So it must be time. It looks impressive, but like other technology I have heard about I am awaiting SED technology. When Canon sort the patents out oh and the technology.
Very sexy Oled!

whats the difference between LED and OLED, like the samsung led and the sony oled
ermano 2 years ago
LCD - liquid crystal, lit via a tiny fluorescent backlight sandwitched in the bottom of the panel.
LED - liquid crystal, lit via tiny white LED's usually directly behind the LCD.
OLED - no backlight whatsoever - the pixels generate the light you see, made with organic phosphors.
AMOLED - the same as OLED except this incorporates an Active Matrix.

This is bullshit! When will it ever end? I'm looking to buy an LCD but now I don't want it because six months later it will be outdated.
nandoGdog 2 years ago 3
buy a 55inch led tv at best buy, its either 55 inch or a little higher or lower just look for the paper thin one lol
Robsie2300 2 years ago
I know right? I'm gonna wait til they have a 240Hz LED TV by the end of the year to buy one. Gives me time to save, ya know? Then I have to find a way to get rid of my LCD TV after.
musicispower84 2 years ago
240 hz is coming out this year? I was looking at a 60hz but it seems now that it would be a total waste of money.
nandoGdog 2 years ago
the hz isn't the most important part, the human eye can only refresh an image at somewhere between 30-60hz so past a certain point its just overkill.
BrockSamson9999 2 years ago
Different technology there.

Yea but a fallout stumped a lot of progress in that reality.

Actually highest with a LED is a million to one ratio whc is the Samsung 9 series.
wnjf4789 3 years ago
But that is dynamic contrast, not 'true' contrast range. The 9 series relies on multiple led backlights, a step up for LCD technology, but still causing a glow like effect around small bright areas. OLED has vastly superier per-pixel true contrast.

I see Samsung LED LCD out right now....this is all getting way too confusing. When is an OLED going to come out? Is an LED LCD TV the same as an OLED TV?
dooovde 2 years ago
LED LCD TV is just a television that has LEDs as the backlight for the LCD TV instead of fluorescent bulbs. OLED televisions, use organic compounds to produce the picture, and requires no backlight at all.

Impressive 5/5

What im really interested to see is just an LED in a 22 inch model, so far the lowest ive seen is like 37 or something...

when plasma tv came out they were like $10,000 then they got cheaper.
badssmofoyahoo 3 years ago 2
I don't care if this TV is the best picture in the world, there is no 11 inch TV that is worth $2,500. What they don't tell you is it burns out in 14,000 hours, which if it's on 6 hours a day, it only lasts 6 years. Everybody go eat up the eco craze and I'm going to spend money on a wasteful high emission emitting car because this is just another brilliant marketing ploy to win over your hearts and steal your money
delaney252 3 years ago 5
unless if they drastically reduced the price, some models cost up to 10 grand!!! but it will get better

liffaman 3 years ago
organic. they use jelly fish raw meat to produce colors. jelly fish meat emit light when electricity runs through it.
secret103 3 years ago 3
isn't it like... illegal ?? LOL!!!!
liffaman 3 years ago
no, its not from jelly fish. The light is produced from non living organic compounds. There is nothing "alive" about them.

Samsung plans to release these badboys in 2009...Question is, how large in size will they actually be? and expect an super expensive price tag.
Nyana999 3 years ago
They say that 60"+ sizes will be released in 2011, 30" in 2009.
Sony is selling one atm, I'm not sure how big maybe 37,38"? But its going for 2999.99 so I'm just gonna get a LCD for the time being.
XxSpawnPoint 3 years ago 2
I wouldn't waste a dime on any LCD, when their motion/response time and not to mention color just cant match a CRT, although blacks arent really an issue anymore if you're buying one of the new LED LCDs. anyways, the only tech that can almost match crt is LaserVue(for now) but the smallest size is currently 65" and it goes for $6999 ;o....For now, i'm sticking with my CRT...But it will be interesting to see what rolls out in march for the new HDTV line up..also, i wonder how OLED handles motion
Nyana999 3 years ago
Oled have a refresh rate of 0.02ms. MUCH faster than a high end CRT (<1ms). They can also achieve a one million to one contrast ratio. They are currently the best display technology. CRT, LCD, Plasma or Laser do not come close.
AlessandroAUS 3 years ago
Well Organic LED's have been tooted for a while, unlike Apple keynotes thee technology is never delivered for a long time. So it must be time. It looks impressive, but like other technology I have heard about I am awaiting SED technology. When Canon sort the patents out oh and the technology.
