They've always been something of a pseudo-progressive band, musically, and the 3rd guitar gives them so much dynamic flexability and tonal depth. I don't know your beef with Gers specifically, but it's your right to like or not like anybody you choose. The concept of a third guitar in Maiden, regardless of who's playing it, however, is right. (just mine)
