  • THIS IS SPARTA AND MADNESS- "NO THIS IS PATRICK" XD

  • question?

weren't the Spartans said to be descendants of Hercules?

  • @trooper1173 i dont think so buddy

  • Am I the only one that wants to know what Troy Story is about?

  • Originally, Athena's beef was with Poseidon. They both wanted Athens, so they both gave the city a gift: Posiedon gave them a salty river, Athena gave them a tree. The tree won.

And Athens had a lot to offer in terms of knowledge and culture... but only for men. Free women were hardly allowed to leave their homes. On the other hand, Sparta encouraged women to exercise along with the men, and the women ran the place while the men were off at war.

  • 1:13 How could he punch his own sister?

  • 09:53 Hercules just swore at the Spartans. He said 'surrender'.

  • 05:55 Of course it's mission. The Ancient Greeks didn't go in for human sacrifice (except as a last resort).

  • Phil says 'Jump' Icarus says 'What colour?'

  • He's not better in war necessarily...they're both gods of war :P he's just the brutal aspect

  • "Dueling Deities"! coming this fall to Fox! i just had to say it!

  • Wait... Sparta?

  • The Armageddon bow, an ABSOULUTE MUST for god of war.

  • @BleachFan9891 and kevin micheal richardson is a must for a deep voiced character such as hephaestus!

  • Ah Athena. By far my most fav goddess b/c shes the Goddess of Wisdom and Cunning :D

  • Why does Athena have a weird accent? Ah well, don't care. Still laughing my ass off.

  • @webkinz8234 The voice of Athena is Daphne fron Frasier, she's actually British.

  • lol athena pwns ares

  • Heh, I like the movie references. Troy story. Ha!

  • @xtwinklenshinex Yeah, not to mention Homer Alone, Sophocles' Choice, and Acropolis Now!

  • I don't think Athena should have a british accent, a bad one at that

  • @JoyRay156 the actress that plays her is english.

  • Congratulations, You've Just been slaughtered!

By Ares, the God of war. LOL

  • SPARTANS RULLES, JUST LIKE SPARTANS IN GOD OF WAR, athens are weak, noone is more ruthless than SPARTANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @vergilheartnet Spartans rule, just like the Spartans in God of War. Athenians are weak. None are more ruthless than the Spartans!

  • @tjrieves HAHAHAHAHA, DAAAM right, bro

  • ATHENS ARE SUPREME!!!

  • athena reminds me of mary poppins

  • Even though this isn't exactly accurate, it's funny.

  • It really seems like Ares and Athena compete with each other just because they would die of boredom otherwise.

  • this show ought to have a season 2.

  • @goldenthoth technically it does.....

  • @3fatkid oh really plz explain...

  • @goldenthoth according to tv.com it has 2 seasons.....

  • um wow.ya know wats realy annoying about this show??...the muses!in alot of episodes, they just pop out of no where and just start singing!its ANNOYING!!!!srry i just HAD to get that off my chest.

  • @hercsgirl15 theyre Supposed to be the chorus....following the ancient Greek theatrical custom of having a chorus explain things to you as you watch the play. During comedies they were often dressed up as satyrs and they made fun of the play, adding their own dialogue and inserting dirty jokes and obscene gestures, thus we get the word "satyrize", although the definaition has changed a bit since then.

  • Wait a sec, if the red guy is Ares then whose the buff purple guy in the armour?

  • @someonerandom1000 the buff purple guy is Apollo.

  • @EdoubleM ahhh, got it. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • you will speak unless spoken to! jerk lol (actually it was check)

  • Oh my God!! The narrator is Robert frigging Stack!! LOVE HIM!!

    Unsolved Mysteries, anyone?

  • Athena seems a bit like the loving aunt towards Hercules, considering that in the myths she was his half-sister.

  • "You will not speak unless spoken too!"

lol First Athena's all nice to Hercules then she's all mean to Phil. Wonder what caused her to go from nice to harsh.

  • 3:56 Wisdom IS hot!!!

  • lol, watch out for that tree

  • It isn't the Cyclops who forged the thunderbolts for Zeus?

  • Hephaestus forges the thunderbolts.

  • Thank you

  • Your welcome

  • Your welcome

  • Your welcome

  • I love how this is the only family tie that they really stress in the show. Never mind that Zeus is their father, or that Hep was Ares brother. xD

  • Poetic justice and irony...

    LOL Cool

  • Dueling Deities!! LOL

Damn, wisdom is hot, if you know what I mean...*wink*

  • @heresthadude1080 she's a fucking cartoon you sick fuck!!!!!

  • ya didn't hear it from me.

    twit.

lol i love the british accent for a greek goddess

  • Wasn't Athena born in fully grown?

Eh, well. The point is that Athena pwns Ares because she's smart, and Ares pwns Athena because he's strong. It's equal!!

  • "Herc, watch out for that...oooo...tree!!!"

  • 00:18 SPARTAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • ares owns that bitch

  • *I* think Ares is cool... ;__;

Or maybe I just like his very Gerald-Scarfe-y look...

  • -laughs- Gotta love Hephaestus, especially since he was voiced by the guy who played Gantu; I think he also played someone from Halo, maybe the Arbiter?

  • @genericbagel

Nope. He played a character in Halo 2, but it wasn't the Arbiter. It was Tartarus. But yeah, Michal Kevin Richardson is fucking everywhere.

  • I always wanted to say this. THIS IS SPAAARTAA!!!! Sparta..? No this is Athens! *punch her* shut up

  • This episode is giving me a "God of War" feeling.

  • @bluethunder25 You know thats so true except I don't think in "God of War", Ares takes any cities side

  • @bluethunder25 but unlike ares in this movie, KRATOS IS THE TRUE GOD OF WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bluethunder25 well its givin me a goddess of wisdom fellin!

  • @bluethunder25 Yeah. Personally, I think Ares would be a better villain than Hades in the franchise. But that's just my opinion.

  • @sparkshark789 no villain is better than hades lol

  • when phil said omega it sounded like he said oh my god

  • Man Ares gave Athen a good punch! Burn!

  • Athena has curvy hips.

  • I wish I could date Athena!

  • Family visits are always a hassle.

Especiallly when you're a half-mortal with all powerful aunts and uncles.

  • Actually,Ares and Athena were also Zeus's children, which would make them Herc's brother and sister.

  • 7:40-7:45

    Smooth. XDDD

  • in history the only people who attacked was athens sparta didnt want to gain more land unlike the athenans

  • Doesn't armigeten mean something big ? or adventure or something? when did all of this happen, between the movie XD! and yes athena's symbol is an owl, it does stand for wisdome, but in here she's so nice to Herc!! phil is sortov'e annoying :) whats the name of the smith? asbestes? isnt that a disease were your always like "im doing my best im making this as fast or as best as i can" :P?

  • Armageddon is the site of an epic battle associated with the end time prophecies of the Abrahamic religions.

According to traditional interpretations, the Messiah will return to earth and destroy the Antichrist in a battle that somewhat parallels the Battle of Armageddon. And Honey, its gets complicated!!!!

the smiths name is Hephastus, aka Vulcan.

  • It's also come to be assosicated with meaning 'end of the world'.

  • Haphaestus

  • i love latin, i want to learn the whole alphabet :) OMG isnt that funny!! Alpha Bete!! anyways, i dont mind Ares and Athena's fued i have one too! and i did a report on athena a long time ago :) i love this show, if i had a time machine id go back in time to see if there really was a hercules, y'never know if those myths are true, i really hope so though! i have faith :). is this AD. or BC???

  • BC!!...depending how you look at it, anywhere from 50 to 800 BC.The myths werent the only thing that screwed up here..they really messed up the time element too....but its still a funny show!!

  • what play you going to? rofl love this episode

  • Movies Zephyns(?)Gump(spelling's hard to make out)-Forrest Gump Acropolis Now-Apocalypse Now Greece-Grease Spartan Fink-not sure, maybe Monsters Inc though I'm not sure if it was out then Homer Alone-no explanation needed, and for some reason is listed twice Lyre Lyre-again no explanation needed Apollo XII-obviously a Rocky movie Centaur of Something, can't make it out Rhodes Warrior-Road Warrior Sirens of the Lambs-Silence of the Lambs Sophocles Choice-not sure what it's parodying
  • Sophies Choice, starring Kevine Kline and Meryl Streep. Major tear jerker about a woman in the Nazi death camps forced to give up one of her two children to the gas chamber...and the desicion she has to live with.

  • monsters inc. wasn't out. I think it was supposed to be martin fink

  • Sophocles Choice is Sophie's Choice.

  • going through the entire greek alphabet are we phil?

  • Aeris one smart cookie e-o

  • isnt hephaestus suppose to be ugly? ares is uglier than hephaestus! i dont think aphrodite wud have an affair with some1 worse

  • well this isn't real, besides this is disney, and in disney, i don't think they'd make a god or godess in bed with different people.

  • @IAN9620192

that's the Disney depiction. the depictions aren't accurate. look at Hercules, his actual Greek name is Heracles. Hercules is his Roman self's name.

  • Jane Leeves as Athena! Great!

  • Troy story, homer alone, lyre lyre ! LOL

    (4:15)

  • I finally get homer alone. get it? home alone. And homer is a greek historian!

    LOL

  • HA! Troy story

  • 4:17 shows a show called Homer Alone hahaha. Nice parody. Athena is cool(:

  • w00t unlimited ammo!

  • Athena has always been my favourite Greek goddess. But this version of her is really too matured and stiff for me. (British old dame?)

  • ...more like Mary Poppins. And Ares is the perfect General George Patton....think Mary Poppins VS Patton...it works!!!!

  • Yeah! Athene is meant to be a tomboy (well, in my DeviantArt account she is), not Mary Poppins!

  • Mary Poppins was a tough cookie. She was cute and fun in the Disney movie, but she was also actually rather strict and proper and very duty bound. There was a warmth, but there was also a "dont even think of messing with me" quality which added up to a very disciplined independent character. And dont forget, this toon is aimed at 3 to 11 year olds, they need warmth and whimsey in their chars!!!

  • I liked the way they were portrayed in the movie even less. All monochrome and stereotyped. Athena almost had lovely long red hair and a huge gold helmet. They had to make her more physically masculine, didn't they?

  • well, how she's portrayed is less important than the stories and the humour. Its a hilarious show with warm intelligent stories and really witty dialogue. The char design is secondary. And yeah, Im ok with Athena being more masculine. She represented a cult of virginity, not an easy{or appropriate} concept to sell to little kids.Making her a lil less traditionally feminine, than say Aphrodite was a nod to creating a warrior goddess. Also her design is based on a lot of popular Victorian imagery

  • I love Phil "Who who who, sacrifice or mission?"

  • PS I didnt mean to imply Van Diesels, Schwartezenggers and Stallones were homosexual, merely insanely violent.

Spartan women were not encouraged to be homosexual but they were trained to be as tough as their men. And how did they reproduce?? the men did get furloughs to go home and make babies,{in order to further the race} but in a very unofficial unromantic way, no champagne, no small talk, no nothin'.

  • How is that beeing homosexual has anything to do with beeing tough...or acting like a men. You are a fucking ignorant.

  • I never said homosexuals were tough one way or another. I wrote that Spartan soldiers were tough and they embraced homosexuality as part of their military creed.Ya know, there's this wonderful cool thing they have now called "books"...trying reading one and learning the facts before you get rude.

  • I do know history but its evident that you dont know how to write a sentence to tell clearly what you mean. Re.read your post and then tell why I answered what I answered

  • We posted these clips to share the humour and wit of the Disney Herc Tv show with fans. If thats not your cup of tea, fine, leave.I'm not interested in discussing homosexulaity one way or another. If you are trying to imply that I am homophobic, you're barking up the wrong tree.

  • You do not have any authority to ask me to leave from anywhere, pal.

And Im not saying you are homophobic, I dont even know you.

  • Well you started this, I didnt. But if you need to stay then I suggest you relax and enjoy the cartoon. Its a good one, and very clever. Not too many kids toons debate the difference between poetic justice and irony.

  • I guess Spartans weren't greatly known for their subtlety!

  • They were a tough bunch. They used to starve new recuits...age 12 to 14 ...until they could barely stand and then make them run a gauntlet of whipping to reach a piece of cheese on an altar. Anyone who Didnt reach the cheese got whipped some more.I dont think Herc and Ick would have liked that too much!!!

  • WOW O.O Didn't know that. I knew they were a warrior race (Here's the bit where I get killed) and the Spartan Army was known for homosexaul relationships when away from home (Really, I read it in a book!) But that was about it really.

  • oh yeah...think of a legion packed with Van Diesels, Stallones and Swartzennegers all yelling and coming at you at once.{No wonder Athenas disgusted!!!!} Look up the Spartan fox myth, that gives you an idea of how nuts they were. And yes,homosexulity was famously encouraged to ensure loyalty and bravery in the men within the ranks. They did'nt want anyone pining for the wifey they left behind or the things she represented{nice warm bed, children, home cooked meals}

  • I found the fox myth! Youch! Also found about the whole Army Brotherhood idea and the way they used to train the recruits. Harsh life, but hey, the rest of Greece was scared of them, so I guess they accomplished their mission!

  • yes...I would imagine a roving band of infuriated not-afraid-to-die heavily armed homosexuals coming down on your city would be enough to put a crimp in anyones day!!!

I wish they had included the fox myth in the show...Herc and Ick would have loved Adonis having to pass The Fox Test!!!...anyone want to draw that for my site????

  • What was the fox myht about?

  • A Spartan boy stole a fox, and hid it under his tunic. It ate his vitals raw while he was being questioned about it, but he refused to buckle under the pain, he was so tough.

There was also a Spartan custom of whipping boys as they ran naked up to an altar to get some cheese...it toughtned them up!

  • Was the fox a monster or normal?

  • a regular fox...I guess if you grabbed a wild fox and stuffed him under your shirt he Would start biting and gnawing around on you...the wquestion is...why steal a fox? but then, its just a story to make a point.

I believe the Spartans also shamed cowards by making them dress like women and shaving half their beards off.

  • "Hello, you've just been slaughtered by Ares, the God of War."

    How original ~__~;; Haa...

  • Yah,What he says(BlackdeWhite)

  • Ares and Athena seem to hate eachothers' guts.

  • yea, they're brother and sister

  • you can hate someone's guts even if you're not related to them. there's plenty of people outside my family that i hate.

  • Half brother and sister. Ares' mother was Hera, Athena's was Metis (who lives in Zeus' head)

  • oh, gotcha

  • I wonder if in this cartoon, (although to my knowledge i don't think it's mentioned) if Ares and Hercules are brothers, (Cause in real mythology Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera, and in the cartoon we know for a fact that in the show Hercules is the son of Zeus and Hera)

  • Maybe. In the myth they were only half-brothers, so, yeah.

  • actually I just thought of the perfect comparison{duh, one month later...}The Statue Of Liberty!!!...shes got a really strong, somewhat grimmo look to her face with a classic, androgynous body. Its interesting{if unfair} that whenever Victorian artists wanted to portray concepts like strengh, wisdom, leadership or even motherhood etc they always avoided obvious sexiness or beauty, as though the two cannot co-incide.

  • In the Myth, Hepheastus tried to rape Athena... she just lays there like, that, im not surprised.

  • She probably roundhouse kicked him before he got to her.

  • Teacher: Pi r 2

Me: Noo Pie is round :D

  • ummm Dueling Dieties? Sitcom much? O.o X3

  • Synchronize sundials. Night! Check.

Now I remember why I liked this show so much.

  • lol; yes!!!!!, it was a kids version of The Farside humour....

I liked the Self Sacrificing Sheep...man, that was really ill by Disney standards!!!

  • I agree with b3rna below this message.

  • this is soooooo cool. Thank you soooooo much. Please put up more soon :)
