DC is not like the Northeast where they are used to deep snow all the time. If it snows 1/2 inch most schools in Northern Virginia are closed for 2 days. I grew up there, and my northern friends would laugh about how we react to snow.

i know! direct t.v. sucks! in our cabin in Lake Tahoe, every year, our dish freezes! its such a pain to go chip off all the ice and such.

Unfortunately with small satellite dishes and depending on where you are, dish signal can be interrupted in a snow storm, extreme levels of cloud and when blocked themselves by snow or leaves. If it has snow on it, just brush it off and life will be good. Looks like you received about 40-45 cm of heavy snow. Isn't it fun? I know DC isn't so prepared to deal with that much, in Canada we love when we get a big heaping of snow, its part of our hibernation ritual.
