I like the remake better. It's more of an emotional story. Not that this is void of emotion. But the remake just seems more dramatic with sadness and anger than this one. It's still pretty good.
This was good but not sure whether I prefer the new one. There are a few differences in the two films but this original is nearer to the book. The woman in black is NOT Alice Drablow, it is Jennet her sister who was forced to give her son up and she wanted revenge for this. In the book and film she was watching from the window as the pony and trap sunk killing her son, sister and Keckwick's father. I'd say watch the remake, it's very scary and best watched on the big screen as will be milder on
The remake is way much better than this one. The new version is more scarier and dramatic. I wonder which version is the closest to the novel. There's a couple of changes in the story between the old and new version. Someone who has read the novel, please tell me which version is the closest.
@ElHollywooddeLola I've read it and seen it at the theatre and this version is closer to the book than the Radcliffe version. Give the book a read, it's very good.
@Andre00x Despite all his attempts to rid himself of the "Woman in Black", she still manages to kill him and his family by drowning them, in the same way as she and her child were drowned. Get it?
Great old fashioned ghost story.Reminds me of works of Algernon Blackwood or M R James.I feel sorry for all you kids and teenagers suffering from lack of empathy and imagination. Most of you do not read anymore and you need to have thigs shown because your silly little brains cannot produce emotions and feelings.
The whole point of this movie is the suspense and subtle creepiness. If you're into blood and gore than this is not the movie for you. When Hollywood goes overboard on special effects etc they end up ruining a lot of great movies like The Haunting and make it totally unbelievable and non scary just gorey. I'm hoping they don't screw this one up. They could make it better or it could be a disaster. I think this is a great movie.
WTF? Everyone was saying how scary this movie was but it's actually the least scary movie i've ever seen. Not creepy at all. This was shit and waste of time!
What a horrible ending. Just because he went to that house the ghost hunts him down and kills his whole family! They were not even there. Why didn't she kill the dog? Those sounds were actually him. Is that the little artistic twist?
Personally, I like the new one better. Better ending, and creepier. (:
