the king was gonna burn it, until that stupid person said don't burn it it is a gift from the gods. how stupid can u get they give gold not wooden trashi hand built horses!!!!! duuuuhuhuhhuh!!!!
wait a minute. Where is Patroclus and Briseis. Besides, Homer said that Achilles left the army because Agamemnon take Briseis, but in that movie Achilles and Agamemnon are friends (!!!)
@Blisterdude123 you can say that but didn't he get dipped in some special water as a baby and gave him amazing strength but everything below his ankle is sort of like his weak point?
@MrMexicanRules I do know the myth of achilles. But my point was this, this interpretation can't seem to make up its minds whether its going for a realistic of legendary telling of the Illiad. Its like the writers picked and chose when it suited them. We have the golden apple, but we also have a lack of godly intervention at other more significant points in the tale.
@strawberyaid I know that in The Iliad Agamemnon only used Helen as an excuse to go to war with Troy, but in this movie, was his motivation truly Troy? Or was it Helen? Both?
@strawberyaid I know that in The Iliad Agamemnon only used Helen as an excuse to go to war with Troy, but in this movie, was his motivation truly Troy? Or was it Helen? Both?
@ornak8 Its Maltese. its our native language in malta..this film was fillmed in one of the three islands in malta called 'Comino'. Maltese is made out of 75% arabic and the rest english and italian.. lol no japanese :)...
@justicemanga- The saying was created because Achilles could only die from getting wounded in the heel. His mother dipped him in the fountain of eternal life, but the only part she missed was his heel, because she was holding that part. Plus, it's not just a saying. The tendon in your heel is called, and Achilles heel.
@teefitz92 Fountain of eternal life? The myth says he was dipped in the river Styx but in reality the only person who ever said that was Statius. Homer never mentions Achilles being immortal or invulnerable. In fact Achilles is wounded on one occasion during the course of the Iliad. But alas the modern, popular version is that he could not be hurt. It seems rather stupid that he would wear armor and carry a shield if he was invulnerable doesn't it? It also makes fighting him quite pointless.
oh, come on, that thing is EVIL.... :-P obviously it's some sort of trap! does he really wants gifts from a bunch of murderers anyway?.. the whole thing is bizarre!!
@Nigelene Possibly, it was a belief that if they captured the horse, that somehow they would capture the magic they believed the Greeks received from it. That MAYBE the reason; otherwise, I agree; why would you not burn the thing where it stood?
@fresh7up LOL i laughed so hard at that part, agamemnon just closes in and stabs so quikly and fades away lol just the timing and almost robot like act was priceless.
in this film, you really do feel sorry for menelaus, and he's probably the only decent greek leader besides odysseus. the acting in this film is ok i suppose, but the story is so screwed up its not funny
@IIOdInll LOL...yeah, but actually Achilles does keep riding Hector's body like that either up to or a little after the funeral of Patroclus and yeah, King Priam goes in disguise and then he gives up Hector's body. But yeah, that Priam part didn't happen here. Yeah, very true about Paris. This version idealized him far too far from the book. Although I actually like this version WAY better than Troy. Aggie, Menelaus die and Paris DIDN"T die in that one. Ugh. Ur right...Hollywood :(
@ThePaganSun Yea u are right...but in the book achilles doesnt keep riding the chariot with the body of hector like that and gives up hectors body to his father on request by king priam, Paris is also a coward in the book running away from meneleus in this story he is displayed as a hero...=/ hollywood.
@jmzimmerman1984 yea they say he was snatched by aphrodite and when helen scorned him for leaving the battle field and not going back he never went its in the book...
omg Agamemnon is such a wuss, he sneaks up and kills Paris when he had no weapon and wouldnt even fight with him honorably, that fricking wuss he never meant to fight honorably
So the Greeks doubt that Troy can fit their gift inside their city? Hmph, WE'LL SHOW THEM! -- typical testosterone-induced response. Why didn't he ask himself why they Greeks would offer a gift that they 'believed could not fit within Troy?'. If he's too stupid to follow simple deduction, then he deserved to die. But I feel sorry for Paris and the rest of Troy. =(
grr~ i love Odysseus but why does he have to be so darn smart?! The king shouldn't have changed his mind, he should have burned that stupid horse! hahaha:)) now i dont know where to side:))
@feudeneige18: he said "you've given me a hundred lifetimes worth of happiness" :)
so beautiful~ but Agamemnon just had to ambuscade him. GRRR~ :|
Wow, the Trojans looked pretty surprised the first time they saw that horse. A wooden horse that size cannot be built overnight, especially one sturdy enough to hold grown men. If it was not built overnight, where did they keep it until it was fully completed? If someone was building a wooden horse the size of a mountain, I think somebody would have noticed, news like that gets around. Im pretty sure someone in Troy would have seen or at least heard about the horse. How did they NOT know!?
Actually I think that Homer's account in the Iliad was pretty balanced compared to most people today. We are wholeheartedly on the side of Troy because we can understand the good in people who are defending their city whereas we recognize the futile violence in attacking others.
Wow that is really unfortunate. And poor Cassandra!!!! They should let her out of the dungeon, I mean, she's been right all along so what did she do wrong?
@babychick912 the problem is, while she was gifted with the ability to see the future by the God Apollo, because she refused to sleep with him after he gave her the power, he cursed her with the fact that nobody will ever believe anything she says about her visions. even if all her visions are true, they still won't believe her
@babychick912 yeah i agree! The greeks probably found the prisoners in the dungeon because maybe the greeks searched EVERYWHERE!! because troy's falling!
@TaraTheTiger Actually it's a great ending, it shows both the tragedy and the irony of war. What sucks in these series is that Achilles is a baldie and Agamemnon's ass kisser.
I bet the Trojans always wanted a wooded horse ... there is no way wise men would bring an unchecked wooden giant horse within their city right after 10 years of war....
I don't think it's the original myth, but in one of them, don't the Greeks leave behind their soothsayer to convince the Trojans to bring the horse into the city?
I applaud Achilles' death. I can't stand him - brute, vain, childish...the best that can be said for him is that he fought back for Patroclus. Other than Odysseus and Diomedes (rarely mentioned) I just can't stand The Greeks in this. I side with Troy all the way. Agamemnon is the biggest prick ever.
@PhillAlexandros WHy? If you actually read the damn book instead of watching VERY corrupted and skewed movies you'd realize that Troy DESERVED to burn! Agamemnon gave them sooo many chances to return Helen AND the property Paris STOLE from Menelaus! Instead those losers broke the treaty and when Menelaus and Odyseeus tried to go as messengers, the Trojans tried to KILL them! If you ask me, Troy HAD IT COMING!!!!
@PhillAlexandros trojans started this tho... they fueled the final spark needed for agamemnons flame to burn lol. in the actual myth/history, menalaus and helen love eachother and return to sparta. greeks are the awesome i think. agamemnon doesnt seem like a bad guy he obviosuly feels things when his brother duels and so on. if he didnt care he wouldnt of poisoned the weapon or felt sadness for his daughter and so on he just knows he must be hard and ruthless to save what he has and his peopls.
@PhillAlexandros agemmenon ajax achilles are pretty bad true but odysseus was there only cause he was forced because of the oaht if you pay attetion you see he is the only greek who from the beggining till the end doens't want to be there
Real life? No. Not unless you did what Achilles did and bathe in the Styx all over except for your heel. But then again, that is a myth within itself.
it was just becuz he got him on the area where his mother held him at when he was dipped in the river styx. thus showing that he does have a weak spot. and not becuz it was poison.
and dont call me muppet! and poison is spelt like this.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

@PhillAlexandros agemmenon ajax achilles are pretty bad true but odysseus was there only cause he was forced because of the oaht if you pay attetion you see he is the only greek who from the beggining till the end doens't want to be there

but in real life, can u die from getting hit at the heel?
creativsis 2 years ago
Real life? No. Not unless you did what Achilles did and bathe in the Styx all over except for your heel. But then again, that is a myth within itself.

it was not poisoned!
it was just becuz he got him on the area where his mother held him at when he was dipped in the river styx. thus showing that he does have a weak spot. and not becuz it was poison.
and dont call me muppet! and poison is spelt like this.
