I would recommend new decals. Adhesive not made for vinyl will eventually cause it to fail again but you can try some 3M spray adhesive for a temporary fix.
hey darian, i've got a brand logo i want to apply to the front head of a bass drum. problem is, some of the lettering of this logo has come unstuck from the bottom piece that it sits on. do you think i can glue the letters that appear to be not sticky anymore, after i get them on the head? what type of glue would you think would work best? thx for the post
@408427 Yes, you can. They make specific spray laminates for vinyl and are recommended. You can also spray paint , you just have to be careful to do multiple thin coats. Since the spray is not intended for such use, too heavy a spray can damage or bubble the vinyl. I would mist coat lightly and allow to dry briefly between coats until you build up an even finish. Or let the first coat dry completely and then build it heavy as you want. Once the edges and surface is sealed it should be fine.
@TheRocketman78 NFL and NCAA items are a little tricky because of licensing and copyrights. They have lots of stuff in the licensed stores, but I believe if you want something custom a sign shop or the likes could make it for you with no problem for personal use. Please don't quote me on the legalities of it, for I am not completely sure. You might want to check ebay ... that could be a good resource.
@jrocampo I am not keen on the wet method and never use it. Many people use soapy water and I have to believe that will have a negative impact on the longevity of the decal and affect the integrity of the vinyl adhesive. You can use rapid tack or application fluid, but it sometimes can create adhesion problems, especially if you spray too much or the weather is colder. It also can make small details on contour cut vinyl not stick at all. I
@8darian1208 believe dry is always best ... even on wraps and large decals. Some people prefer wet ... but to each his own. Anybody who is good at vinyl ... doesn't really need these products. I would also recommend high quality air release vinyl ... makes it very easy to get flawless application, especially with wraps, where it is necessary. That's my two cents ... hope it helps you !
i'm not sure what the "lines" you reference are ? if you have an overlap issue and get bubbles it is best to work them carefully towards a release point. if no release, create one with a sharp point exacto and work towards hole. hope it helps
