  • I was the only girl in the biggest school of Toronto who played the trombone. Girl power! haha D

  • shes really good for 2 years of playing

  • if she opened her teeth when she played that would straighten the tone issue out. other than that this really great for a 7th grader

  • i do that aswell she is amazing well done anya hopefully you can be a famous trombone player hopefully i can be one to xxxxx

  • you're an amazing player for a 7th grader! You have the potential to be a really good player. Do you really enjoy music? You're better than most of the trombones at my high school, and older people I know even! Keep up the fantastic work!

  • BRAVOOO

  • Your flat

  • Gentle rating: Her tone is o.k, positions and tecnique is o.k, overall its good. Not perfect, but many good things.

Real Life rating: Her tone/sound is very very poor, I dont know if its the camera, but she really needs to work on her tone/sound. Work on moving to high notes from comfortables notes. make sure to not slur, too much. Make sure to make differences. I have no idea, how on earth she made it into this "states" thing. I hope she got better by now.

  • HAI ANYA!

    GRACE GORDON HERE!!!

Hello. Nice job on the trombone!

  • Great job, shout to u Anya. I'm in the 7th grade too and i play trombone. Way to represent!!

  • Thank you.

  • lol wow ur a 7th grader and ur better than all of our tronbomes at our high school...

  • As a 7th grader I was so much better than her, her sound is pretty bad, but that is coming from a three year all stater

  • Parabéns garotinha, você é muito linda e toca muito bem, continue estudando música que com certeza você fará muito sucesso. Boa sorte!!!

    ~>I'mBR

  • @bolonha91 obrigado

  • Bach did a version of this playing all violins and pianos himself (!!!!) but he was a lonely man and that is why he is such a big talent. RIP Sebastor Bach

  • im going to solo ensamble in febuary :)

  • Good stuff. I sounded much worse than that in 7th grade and turned out working on a masters in perfromance. Keep at it!

  • Definitely drop the mouthpiece like its hot as well I didnt realize. Stick with a 6 1/2 AL until you're comfortable with it that will make a. TREMENDOUS difference as well. Best of luck.

  • Well you're obviously young and everything. Just a tip try using more air from your diaphragm to support your notes. It will improve your tone a lot. My general advice would be to find a note you're comfortable with get the best tone you can out of it then just scales scales scales.

  • you're forgetting about all the runs, but it's pretty good

  • This is so cute! She is really an outstanding player for 2 years. Keep up the great work Anya :))))

  • Wow. You're great for a 7th grader :D I play sax but from our Honor Band in school, you're better than half of our section in 7th grade LOL Good job :)

  • Is it just me or do tenor trombone bells look tiny after you look at a bass trombone video?

  • @FenderDude107 I play bass trombone as my principal instrument, and when I look at the trombone I played at her age, and I'm amazed that I used to have a bell that small. 10.5 inches and 5.5 inches is a huge difference XD

  • Nice performance of Trombone Playing.

    Enjoy yourself with Trombone. Welldone.

  • Can everyone claiming to be pros please stop commenting and showing off? If you were that good you wouldnt waste your time on youtube watching begginers, happy trollin

  • I can play better than her..... but ive played longer so nice job!

  • You sound as good as half the people in my section. For a 7th grader, that's pretty good! As for my section, this is depressing. Haha, it's kinda funny, reading the comments. If an average looking male kid performed this exact same solo in the exact same fashion, half the comments would be about he could be better, or how the kid sucks. Here they're all nice a fluffy. :P That's what being a cute girl gets ya. :P

  • I hope she becomes a killer bass bone player :D

  • 2nd yr? Impressive. You're going to be a great bone player! Stick with it!!!

  • Impressive for only playing two years. If you want a tip with tone, try dropping your jaw a bit, it will let more air through for a clearer note.

I have played the Trombone for six years, by the way.

  • I sounded worse in 8th grade, and now i'm the best trombone in school.

  • hey, not perfect tone yet, but still for 2 years and a 7th grader, youre pretty amazing. keep practicing and you will be astoundingly good

  • Aw! you are awesome,

  • i used to be like you one day and now i have a great tone and i am the bass trombone player in a symphonic band

  • I played trombone from grades 5-8 and gave up before high school. I regret that decision every day of my life.

  • This is GREAT for the age you are at right now. I don't know if it's the sound quality of this video or it's just the tone. But if you practice long tones you will get a smooth rich tone.

  • I like how that girl plays, only two years of practice, wow!! I like it.

  • I like how that girl plays, only two years of practice, wow!! I like it. Please, search for "Glissando Ensemble", it's a young trombone quartet, tell me what you think about them, thanks

  • Wow! Has she been playing only for two years?? she is pretty good, good luck Anya.

Please people, search for "Glissando Ensemble" and tell me what you think, it's a young trombone quartet, tell me what you think, Thanks

  • hEY yOU CAN PLAY IN MY BAND !!!!

  • She has excellent technique, especially for her age. She just needs to open up her sound a little more and her performance would be next to flawless :) I see a 1st chair All-State trombonist here! haha

  • Hope you achieve your goals, Anya!

  • im in 10th grade, your probably better than me :)

  • Well you did a good job but you should improve a little on high notes but your sixteenth notes were awesome

  • VERY good performance over all, just drop your jaw and keep the fast air moving and you will be AMAZING AT STATE!

  • PEEEAASSSSHHHOOOOOOOOOOOTTEEEERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOLZ good for 2 years i admit, but after 5 years, you can play the solo better. she needs to practice using more air, and relaxing to get more air through the instrument. and shes probobly using a small mouthpiece being in 7th grade.

    get her a BACH 5g

  • Sound good keep up the good work. practice only makes you better and practice what you want to go after.

  • wow, impeccable rhythm and pitch. and a 7th grader! great job! keep up the great work!

  • Oh my...she's great! i play the trombone also... and im also a 7th graders haha i just went to region and made wind ensemble 2nd chair... pretty happy but im not used to being 2nd chair :( im usually 1st but im just glad to be in the top band and so close to 1st chair :D

  • If Anya DID have a cold, it didn't affect her playin' any. She didn't make her 'bone growl.

  • Great performance! I'm gonna offer a bit of constructive criticism.

1.) Relax your wrist a bit. It'll help a lot with speeding up your slide.

2.) Drop that jaw. My teacher made me play with an eraser between my teeth. Single most drastic improvement I've ever heard in my tone.

3.) Use your diaphram to help you hit those higher notes, not your face. I still struggle with this one.

4.) As others have said, drop that 12C like it's hot. Pick up a 6&1/2 AL or 5G. The sooner the better.

  • I am in 9th grade, been doing solo/ensemble since 7th grade (maryland as well). But im playing bluebells of scotland this year. Youre off to a good start, good for 7th grade!

  • @Dantromboneman :o Ive been in the solo ensemble since 7th in Maryland too! but im a Sophmore

  • It sounds like its a teeth thing. Try putting large uncooked macaroni behind your teeth, where your gums are tall.

  • I don't think her cold made any difference in the way she played.

  • Best Girl trombone player I've seen. And she's in 7th grade!

  • hey what state is this in because i live in texas and for us they dont have state in middle school cuz i got first place in my region and there was no competition after that :p

  • who is playing the trumpet on the begin of the video?

  • @Coffey50 has a VERY good point if you try to say "O" with your lips on the mouthpiece and then play it will help tons but you sound very good for only been playing for two years i wasnt even doing that well at 2 years :P but ive put my hours in and now im one of the better players at my college :) also your center of pitch is AMAZING you have a bright future ahead BEST OF LUCK!!!:)

  • Bravo, keep going. It is amazing to see someone at your age playing, yes like the others said...open the jaw, ones you got control of the breathing all will follow with ease. I got this feeling if you push hard you will make it right to the top and join the big players. Bravo again, and never give up. ( I actually watch your video 3 times, amazing)

  • really beautiful .. apart from this very cute .. nice touch ... lucky ...

  • oh congratoulations,good job!

sou do brasil e gostei de ver vc tocando assim.

    god blassing you.

  • Very good I am in the tenth Grade and practise every day the best day. Also better tone will come with more playing. Just Open the jaw up, as if there were a golf ball in your mouth. LOL

    It works though

  • "she had a bad head/chest cold this week"

You should never mention any excuses.

  • VERY GOOD....Thanks for posting. Stick with it and in no time you'll be a pro. Ylou have great tone.

  • Oh cool I play trombone and am the same age and got a one at solo ensemble! but I played "down by the riverside"

  • good job!

  • It's the teeth, they have to stay far apart. Keep the tongue down too for open tone. Not bad besides that!

  • Anya, you were just great. Brava, my dear!

  • try a larger mouthpiece rather than that 12c..try a 6 1/2al or a 5g.always do lip slurs and long tone before u play...some breathing cant hurt either and of course open your teath.try putting a dime or something that will open your jaw in between your teeth and play...other things such as starting with your teeth closed and slowly open them and listening to the difference will help u to get the idea. but good job it was mostly in time and great articulation.from here u will become a great player

  • She sounds like she's clenching her teeth a little. Maybe just nervous, or was it the cold you spoke of?

  • Bravo, bravo!

  • wat music destrict are u in im in IGSMA and will be playing this piece on saturday
