I love the music that goes with this lol. But yeah vista is stable enough especially with service pack 2, and Windows 7 is even better. But in the end it all comes down to hardware. Bought a new laptop yesterday. The display is about a hundred times clearer and aero is as smooth as silk. =)

@imapcstephen The question is: "why not copy?" Mac OSX is based on a FreeBSD core, Linux desktops pretty much stole the Mac interface in return. We learn from the environment and each other, not even outdated copyright policies are going to change that. A wise man once said: "It is right to learn, even from the enemy." :D

I LOVE Windows 7, but Vista is a good alternative. Everyone says Vista is a bad Operating System, all because of it's speed. If You are at home, You can wait "3" minutes until Vista starts, but max. is 1 min 30 Sec, depending from Your autostart things such as: Sidebar, Windows Live, Antivirus Software, etc... So, I just want to tell You that Vista is not fucked up. To be honest, Vista has a lot of features, and IT IS NOT Copied from Mac.

they copied mac with the media center mac has a classic one called fronnt row they also copied with tabs and quick tabs all of that comes with safari 4 instant search is a copy of spotlight sidebar and gadgets is a copy of apple's dashboard apple's interface is alot more sleek and space age so i would go with mac and if you give me a thumbs down you just cant handle the truth

Personally...I hate Vista. It's basically a prettier version of XP anyways. Want transparent windows? Get some programs. Want aero themes? Download VTP.

Vista SP1 out next year, along with XP SP3.

I have vista basic on my machine. I just used the unlock patch to get Aero and Glass effects for Basic. So far it's running just fine, and my computer isn't even that fancy. Driver issues only came up when using my Logitec keyboard and mouse from 2001, no big shock there. My system - Pentium 4 Extreme, 1.5 Gigs of DDR400, Radeon 9800xt, 2 74 gig cheeta HD's.

microsoft will fix their errors though updates, and if your running like 192MB of RAM, then no wonder your vista experiance aint gonna be any good.....

vista runs really smooth, and given time, will be the next generation OS.

I'm not saying that Vista Sucks (in fact, I just tried it and like very much) but it has a lots of security holes (how annoying is it that for every click it ask you to cancel or allow the action :S)... Plus I read in a lot of tech sites that it is full of bugs and saw on You Tube a great video in which someone took the audio of the Windows Vista presentation and put it over the video of Mac OS X... Just great, look it lol

u r wrong on all of this, Start menu is better, Flip 3D is different from time machine, time machine takes ur comp back in time, to any point to the previous state of ur desktop, Flip 3D just allows to go to another program w/o minimizing ur current open program.....Sidebar is right on the desktop, while dashboard, u have to open, Aero is a glassy look, while Aqua effect makes everything look watery and yes i meant to say that, live icons is a new feature, and as for Media Center(cont)

Windows is not boring, MAC OS X is boring, tiger and leopard is boring.....Microsoft has come out w/ some very new innovative OSs, I really think Tiger is boring, where as Windows isn't Apple's Tiger & Leopard and all of that is so boring b/c apple has no time for fun, they r full of genius, where as microsoft is full geniuses and yet they have time for fun too, they make the os for video games, i still like MAC but only b/c the no viruses

Vista is NOT XP with a new skin, Vista was made from sratch, they started all from nothing and made this awesome OS, which I will be buying when it comes out. And by the way, for those who don't know, XP does come with a media center to, it's call "Windows XP Media Center Edition", which I have and love.

to all the people complaining about "oh damn i need highend hardware" why dont u go on wikipedia and lookup vista. there are 4 gui's to choose from. if u have the fastest hardware choose the full featured one. same in windows xp. i can disable the fancy shit when i play games and renable it after. you cant on a mac and the emacs at my school take the performance hit for the osx gui immensely.

OSX has a shadow effect under every windows, Exposè, Dashboard and as you can see in Leopard Time Machine with cool graphics effects. OSX and Linux are both UNIX systems (I think you know that), so the probability that they have virus is very less. Have you try the beta of Vista? Yes I agree with you, the graphic is good but it's too expensive for a standard hardware,

Mac OSX doesnot use Hardware to provide 3D effects! Mac OSX DOESNOT have 3D effects!. The effects of Vista is pretty cool no wonder, (almost like XGL by Novell). About virus.. just wait a few years for mac to get popularity and see what happens..:)! If you want a great OS, then switch to Linux !

It's only a Windows XP with a new interface and a media center. Mac OSX has this features from 2002.. . This video show a lot of graphic effects that require a lot of hardware. And remember, Windows it's always Windows so prepare a good antivirus.

Yeah but Dashboard sucks... and most Mac users say that as well. Windows calendar is an extension of outlook which has been around a lot longer than iCal. I see you didn't mention that the dock is a rip off of the Windows task bar. Other rips offs include parental controls, and fast user switching... oh but its ok when Apple rips off from Microsoft right?
